Thread: If pistoleers get dual pistols...
A agree...think of the potential...and if anyone wants to see a good dual sword duel watch the end of shanghai knights.
I must say that I started this profession as a holo profession...now I don't ever want to give it up :-D

Funny you should mention this, my friend and I were just discussing the idea of pistoleers having dual pistols last night. As a fencer (granted a novice) I don't necessarily feel tha a fencer would really wield dual swords. If you've ever tried to wield dual weapons and be effective in combat (try picking up two 3-4 pound sticks or metal rods and swinging them around a little at the same time) it can be quite difficult. Now, a few things that seperate a fencer from a heavy swordsman, IMO, would first and foremost be the weight of a weapon. Swords were balanced for easier use, usually having more weight in the hilt to give better control to the wielder (or so I understand). So is it feasable for a individual 9especially someone trained in the art) of swinging two swords? Yeah, just seems really awkward. Short swords, or something like the vibroblade would be very feasable, and the vibro knuckler is almost without a doubt realistic. Fencers really have fast pased jabbing like manuevers, or so I'd think a fencer would have, and might be better suited for single weapons. TKA and heavy swordsman (as much as I'd hate to see them get that much more powerful to fencers) might wield dual weapons. Lightsabers probably only weigh like 2 pounds and Anakin (however you spell the name) has the force to help guide his movement (or so I thought.)
Bottomline, if fencers get dual weaponcapability, hazzah! Another perk for me! I'd be happy just to have lower HAM weapons, better damage weapons, and or armor piercing weapons, as I don't really think the vibroblade does much for fencers...
All my opinion. Power to your movement! ![]()
I think if you use dual swordsyou should get no net damage/speed increase. You would just alternate between the two weapons, and you'd the "cool" two weapon look (I don't personally think it looks cool, but many people do). Whether this is accomplished by making the duel wield cosmetic only, alternate between hands at half speed, make each hit a composite of the two weapons, or reducing accuracy and damage to 75% of normal, or whatever other method you can imagine, it doesn't matter. Bottom line is that this shouldn't simply be a way for fencers or pistoliers to get a gross advantage in combat.
Just a thought
