Thread: Pettion: Fix the Vibroblade.

Master Fencer since 2-3 weeks after shadowfire opening.


Oky, I am not not one to really go around posting something like this in any of the form's. I honestly do not know were to post this but here as it is more logical to place it here instead of spaming it all over on other boards an places. Well here is what I have to say about the issues with the vibroblade since I played a fencer since publish one to know this is my data an information I have compiled over the months. I am surpised none of the older fencers noticed this or even bothered to say something sooner.

Since publish 1-3 the vibroblade an master fencers were very very rare on any of the servers. Tka's an swordsmen kinda of out numbered us due to thier powerful attacks, skills or bleeds. The fencers weapons weren't even really discovered by many weaponsmiths to be of any use or profit to make. Although once the vibroblades were being produced with good quality an even better over time the weaponsmiths on shadowfire found that there was money in selling them. To be honest this was a grand age for the vibroblades they did an proformed as well as it was intended they should. I remember many times in pvp, if I got someone just right I could down them with a vibroblade in mere seconds, complared to now which I have to fight three to five times harder to get a kill.

Publish 1-3 combat data information. This is compiled from older data I have had made easier to read I rather not spam you all with many lines but I am using just the avagere hit to best to show. Remember this data veries to person to person if you still have logs but simular.

Now in publish 4 an to now, the vibroblade was drasticly adjusted to the point it no longer what it was a very good weapon for a fencer to use. The weapon still honestly is good to use due to its low ham cost an ablity to spam your specials at a much greater rate then any other fencer weapon we have. An it has a nice little pen 1 modifire to it. But recent testing an I do mean recent testing shows that the vibroblade DOESNT preform remotely as close as it was intended orginaly. The dev's have stealth nerfed this weapon an many of us know it. Heck, I could use a combat knife in pvp an still do as good as my vibroblade fencer weapon.. Here is the new updated information with Viboblades in combat on shadowfire I think you might find this intresting

Anyhow, I just wanted to point out, with tka's able to do a consistant 400 to 500 damage to you over an over again. An swordsmen an pikmen doing far greater damaging hits to you as well, why are we stuck with nibbling an bite damage attacks. To be honest we should do a bit better damage then this, I know we do well in defence but we should be able to do a bit better in dishing out damage to. The reason why thier is so many tka's is cuase the fact the tka is god in pvp, they are by far the hardest class to kill in my honest oppion. Due tot he fact we can never stand toe to toe an dish out anything remotely close in damage wise to them. In pvp, I work 3-6 times harder then any class in the game to get my kills. TKa's just kd2 you an kill you in seconds, or you get shot up so fast by other professions that your miserible damage cant compete. The only saving grace of the vibroblade is that it doesnt kill you in ham cost as fast as a gaffi stick. An Don't get me started on the gaffi stick. GEEZE how can a non-armor pericing weapon do 2-3 times more damage in pvp then our vibro. That makes no sense!

Vibroblade used to test with 58 to 185 damage, 2.6 speed...

Combat Knife 20 to 95 3.0 speed.
(used this for giggles found out this in damage wise only does 15% less damage then a VB an is funner to use in combat.)

Gaffi stick 148 to 282 speed 3.3
(dont have time to post this data but it is upsetting this weapon out performs but at a cost our vibroblades by far)

um... its a knife.


the best way to 'fix' it would be to make it part of a larger tapestry of weaponry. Its a stepping stone weapon; something to use until you got certification in something... gee i dunno...longer than a knife!


I do like the sound they make though!

I entered my vibroblade and my gaderiffi baton(and my stun baton, but that's something else) into this site:

and I found that for an armoured target, the damage output between them is almost identical (give or take .2 or .5 DPS). Guess poor old vibro doesn't even shine there, although I'm having a hard time remembering if the vibro got a decent slice or not.

First and formost i'd like to say i always find reading your posts difficult lol but anyways...

you mention to get the vibroblade as was originally intended? Are you a Dev or do you know what their plans were for this weapon and if they still are the same... unlikely that you are.

Though I would like to see more of a dmg output and additional AP weapons, it is still after all just a knife... *shrug*

I avoid the viberoblade as much as posible... the impact sounds gives me headaches >_< and it's ugly as hell

It's a shame alot of you do not remember or even care if the vibroblade isn't adjusted a bit with improved damage to properly compete with a gaffi stick, due to its an armor pen 1. You all say its only a knife, back in publish 1 - 3 the vibroblade was a very strong tool in pvp. You were able to rip though armored an unarmed targets very fast, an when I mean fast if you had someone dizzyed an on the floor you could incap them in 3-5 seconds. Even when they were standing if it was an unarmed wookie you can tear though them like a shag rug in moments. Now adays it takess far longer, with nearly any fencer weapon execpt for a gaffi stick unless you enjoy paying the massive ham costs to use it.

Heck last night it took me an other fencer to kill a tka unbuffed in a pvp battle whom's ham was 1150/ 1150/ 1650, most likely defence stacking template 24 seconds, an using over 50 moves combined. An no the target wasn't even armored he was wearing only cloths. I find that the fencer damage over all with speciality weapons such as the vibroblade an stun baton are seriously lacking, due to damage output or the huge mind cost associated to using the weapon.

This post is mainly reflecting an focusing on the fact, why was the vibroblade adjusted to be pretty much worthless. Everyone here views them to be useless an not worth it, I do not think so, if the dev's were to go back an look at the damage output of this weapon in pvp they will see that its not performing as intended. I presented my information I had to a former lead tester whom beta'd SWG, an I think stayed longer. Heck I even know his net handle name ^-^ although he told me to present this information directly here in hopes it would get some acknowledgement but he wouldn't by his contract say anymore an I respect that. I have done beta testing long ago myself so I know the drill. To be honest adjusting this weapon into spec's of what its suppose to do or close to what it did back in the days of publish 1-3 would greatly enhanse our ablities. Low ham, darn good damage, fast speeds thats what I remember the old vb coding was great!

But again you never know what sony will do next sadly to say. =p

I love my vibro blade. CSA weapons on Starsider makes them with low ham tendencies. My vibroblade is 11/22/11. I can spam specials all day and never worry about my ham.


I'm pretty satisfied.

Dude the vibro blade used to only be good because everything had hella crappy armor. They are just one of are worthless weapons: ryyk,vibroblade,curved sword,sword,rantok. The only weapons worth anything are the gaff and stun baton and the stun baton is becoming more and more useless everyday with all the stun layered armor protecting people from the new pistols and jawa rifles.

they've only nerfed like a thousand different things from the beginning. start by nerfing the whiners to keep them from bitching so much that the DEVs just want to shut them up. very vicious circle.



i am loathe to suggest any changes b/c everything gets messed up. but I agree with your logic that a hitech blade with AP should do more damage than a rusty pipe. And longer is better.
