Thread: Fencer is NOT Uber, it's NOT All Powerful, it's NOT Godlike.
This people bragging incessantly aboutkilling multipleTKM/Jedi/DarkStormtroopers/Grand Maulers/Force Sensitive Chars/IMPS/REBS blah blah blah ad nauseum are either exaggerating their accomplishments, or downplaying their other skills. Anyone else who says differently is a liar.
On multiple occasions Fencers without Master Brawler have posted how they have a difficult time beating Master TKM. This is the reality. Without Warcry 2 and Intimidate, or additional defense bonuses from other professions, or spice, or TKA meditation line, or food buffs, beating a TKM in a duel is a formidible task. (Unless you purposely pick out aTKM that sucks.)
Even now, with my KD Defense at 90 and Posture Change defense at 110 - I STILL get knocked down (Usually by TKM) frequently enough that I have to watch it. It happens a LOT less then before becoming a Hybrid..... but it still happens.
I have played Fencer with the bare basics, since the beginning. I speak from experience. We got a HUGE performance boost with the last few patches - but that brought us from nearly unplayable (except by the most diehard of geeks) to a VIABLE (not UBER) class.
Am I 'uber'? I hope to hell not.But I think it's safe to say that my dueling skills are known as some of the best on Flurry. To GET to that point, I had to pick up MULTIPLE defense lines, dropping ALL of my other support skills except the barest of medic skills. It was not Fencer that made me the tough opponent I am... it was smart planning about which other profession skills to COMBINE with it, that made the difference.
So enough with this chest pounding and BMOC crap. We are a decent profession. We are what we are supposed to be.That is all.

Enough beating around the bush, Kali. Tell us how you really feel. I gather it has something to do with Fencers.....
I feel your pain, and share the sentiment.
my 2 cents: TKM got way too much toughness (+47 if i remember it right). on a normal swing, he can do 80+ damage to me and i only do 20+ damage to him, i mean, we are all melee profession after all and they have high accuracy......and our weapon kill our HAM, so should we spam specials hope to take him down faster then we kill ourselves first or just bleed him and hope he doesn't hit us?
Kali is in the same arena. She was arguably one the best PvP melees around even back before we were repaired; all due to her keen insights, ability to size up an opponent, and make use of what tools her environment presented. She worked very hard to get to that point, and it dilutes the accomplishment when everyone believes that winning with a Fencer is no accomplishmentdue tomisperceptions of basic Fencer abilities.
Listen the fencer's counterattack to the amazing accuracy of the TKM's is CENTEROFBEING. It's really not that hard to figure out. Youprobably think of it as that useless crap that they give you with the bleed shots. Heck no. This will greatly help you in PvP. Why don't you actually be unique Seena. You seem like the kind of person that lines up in a line for war like those darn british. Maybe you should just spend some time looking through your actions window and see what "combat" and "other" skills you actually have.
I recently have figured out a very nice trick that i don't believe anyone ever has. I'm not afraid of sharing it, as teh dev's will never see this post. But you probably don't care any way, because you weren't smart enough to get master brawler along with fencer. So good luck winning those PvP battles when you are using ;your oh so wonderful tactics. Heck i bet you just go up to a TKM and start hitting 1 handed hit 3. I used to love that when i was TKA, all i did was knock you down and you just couldn't get up. And i was, and still am only 2/1/1/0. Maybe you should be using some different tactics eh?
lol cob is that good unless you have the other line of dodge from pistolneer againsta a tkm ive dueled other fencers that were talking crap like ill cob and you wont hit me i pulled out my vk and boom they droped hard and were like **edit**.

I think you completely missed Kali's point. She is not saying that she can't PvP. On the contrary, Kali's PvP skills are amoung the best, and she is very rarely ever beaten.
It's not that she wasn't "snart enough" to get Master Brawler, or doesn't know how to use Center of Being. She is quite aware of all of her skills, in addition to efficient use of terrain, situational modifiers, countering her opponent's armor with proper weapon choice and specials choices. She knows her stuff.
Having been around since the beginning, Kali was great even when Fencers were very weak. She is awesome now that Fencers have been fixed.
What she is frustrated about is that since people are shouting from the rooftops that "Fencers are Uber" it cheapens her accomplishments. When you fairly beat someone in PvP, and they come back with "Oh sure... you only won because you are a Fencer, and everyone knows Fencers are overpowered and deserved to be nerfed!" it robs you of all the satisfaction and fun.
What Kali would like (and many of the rest of us) is that when people do their shouting of "Fencers are Uber", that they include those factors they currently leave out. Such factors should make that statement more to the fact of "Master Fencer + Master Pistoleer is uber" or "Master Fencer + Master Doctor is uber" or Master Fencer + Master Brawler + 90% Ubese +35% damaged sliced Ancient Bull Rancor Tooth weapon is uber." That would at least create a full picture.
So... she isn't whining about not being able to win. She would just appreciate being able to win without her opponent thinking it was only because she was a Fencer, and not from simply knowing her stuff. Instead of "Of course you won, you're a Fencer", it would be nice to once in awhile hear "Wow! Great fight. You really know your stuff!"
Disclaimer: Above I said many times "what Kali wants" or "what Kali thinks." I'm not a mind-reader so I took some liberties when of making those statements from what I have learned about her, but it doesn't mean I'm right. I hope she feels free to correct me if I'm way off base. Even if she doesn't feel that way, many of the rest of us that were here early on, and found ways to make this profession work before all the enhancements and stacking issues, do feel that way.
