Thread: PvP question: How do I counteract this?

So I'm fighting aTKM in Theed last night. He has the following:

  • Full Health and Action buffs

  • Mind buffed (secondaries as well, I believe, his mind was regen'ing really fast)

  • Brandy (probably, why his mind was coming back so fast)

  • Full Composite (80% kinetic, I assume)

  • Stun Layered Composite Helm

I basically had the same things as well. He and I just beat on each other constantly and we weren't getting anywhere. It was ridiculous. Eventually, four others showed up and they all killed me.

I tried my stun baton w/scatter hit 2, but I couldn't damage him fast enough before his mind came back. So I tried the Gaffi stick, but anytime his health got low, he healed himself completely.

It was literally a stalemate if his friends hadn't shown up. Is there anything that can be done in a situation like this?

Yeah, join the bandwagon and nerf the TKM so he can't do this anymore *snickers*.

No, really, there isn't much you can do except pull out a republic blaster and run It just goes to show that armor, buffs, foods, drinks and spices make almost any combat template practicallyinvulnerable, even against other combat templates. It also sounds like you were fighting a similar template to mine, with enough medic background to heal a lot of damage if need be at low mind cost due to foods and drinks and spices.

Actually, this sounds rather encouraging for the melee combat professions. People scream about imbalance, but it sounds pretty balanced to me if this is going on like this.

Out of curiosity, did the TKM try any targeted pool damage on you? How did you fare against those?

If he did try targeted pool damage, I didn't notice it. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if he posted a similar message to mine. I'm sure he was just as frustrated with not being able to damage me.

Since I'm also Master Doc, my mind pool is at 1100. Plus I had a mind buff, so that put it to 2200. Put two brandys on top of that and my mind pool was sitting north of 3000. I was having a good time killing almost everyone, but then I ran into this dude, basicallya mirror of myself.

I guess it makes sense that it was a stalemate when he and I were one-on-one, but wouldn't it have made more senseif we both saw our HAMs continually drop until we both beat each other to death? Rather than both being at basically perfect health?

To me, it made the whole Buff/Armor/Food system seem kinda silly.

Sure it's fun to be all-powerful, until you have to fight yourself.

in a situation like that, i would probably lose even though my helm is stun and 82% kinetic, as head hit does more damage to the mind than scatter 2

A smart tka will just mind hit you repeately until your mind runs out. No matter how good you are that tkm will be mind hitting you to death, thus it only costs him 7pts to use the move in mind while your stun is taking 20pts off per attack. You would loose the fight completely in a mater of minutes. It sickens me that a tka can mind hit you so effectively.

I think I could counter this, have TKM and Master heavy swords with your fencer skills

Well, I dont have that yet, even.

Hey esh...yours was against another tkm.

To original poster, blind, dizzy, intimidate? Even with a stun layer you should still be doing some damage and I've found that scatter hit sometimes get's a nice armor hole hit

Couldn't have said it better myself. Either bring all the other professions down to the same level, or bring them all up to the same level. "The Way of the Dev" seems to be the first..they just aren't very good at it...

Furthermore, all the combat professions need attention, but mostly the elites and not the hybrids so much. Pistoleer is seriously borked, Carbineer is still borked but has gotten a little bone thrown to 'em with this last patch, Rifleman is overly powerful and rules over all of the ranged classes as TKA does to all other melee classes, Swordsman is borked, Pikeman is incredibly borked, TKA is overly powerful in oh so many ways, and Fencer is operational, but is sadly still borked. When the devs wake up and start fixing things, situations like the above will have a way to get around them...but the double-slicing craze doesn't seem to be helping the status of PvP...

Edit: I never really answered the initial post's question, so...Best chance would have been to dizzy/lunge him, keep him blind, intimidated, and dizzy...but TKM's tend to be hard as heck to land a dizzy on, and when you do, they tend to stand right back up after a couple of seconds while still dizzy. Stoopid TKM's (intentional mis-spelling),

Edit #3: Last edit, I swear...ahem, also do some bleedingness. Strength and/or Constitution wounds can be a real pain.

Get a better stun baton.

It sucks to go against a well equipped opponent. But after less than a minute, you will run out his Synthsteak and PSG. Then, even against someone w/ buffs and stun layered armor, it should take 5 hits tops to bring him down. By the time he sees white in his health bar, he doesn't have time to heal...use lag to your advantage.

LOL.

Speaking as a former MTKA and now master fencer I can tell you I eat MTKAs for breakfast.

80% kinetic and their screwed.

Simply get buffed, brandy and canape.

Max dmg/mind reduction powerup on your stun baton.

Dizzy/blind/intim/lunge+ scatter hit 2 = Dead MTKA.

Repeat as needed.
