Thread: Why am I harvesting less, I don't know either
Organic resources go through shifts. You could harvest 3 million hide from a womp rat this week, and only harvest 5 hide from it next week. All the resources go through these shifts. I promise it has nothing to do with your fencing.
And you also get less xp for lower creatures as you progress. I now get 1 pistol xp per worrt I kill, when it used to be like 50 xp or something as a novice marksman. So yes, Rori might be usesless soon
Good luck!
Pay attention to the message you get when harvesting, if it says the creature is fat and healthy, you will get maximum harvests. If it says the critter is "skinny"...then you'll get a minimum harvest. Likewise with "medium size".
Also try harvesting different resources off the same animal. Sometimes hide will be "skinny", while meat and bone will be "fat and healthy". Just try not to think about that or make sense of it. Just accept it an move on. /grin
Additionally, if you are in a group you will naturally harvest less (60%) than the full amount.
As for your XP issue...as your skill increases, XP/kill goes down for the critters/opponents you've been beating. Male and Female Squalls as well as Spiked and Horned Kevols all used to con white and give me 500-600XP when I first got Novice Pistoleer. Now I only get 290 or less. The system is designed to make you seek out more difficult adversaries and in some cases, promote grouping and travel to other planets.
Yes, I know all that and I appreciate you responses, but dropping almost 100 xp for a shallow torton just because of one box? Make that two boxes now, earned a second one last night. I suppose it could have been worse though, 200, 300 maybe. One-handed XP is till over 800 though, not all that bad, just didn't expect it to drop that much. Guess I'll just have to start hanging out on Endor or Yavin IV.![]()

I realize resources shift, however Rori animal bone did not shift from Saturday to Sunday, trust me I keep a close eye on such things. Which is my point, although I made it poorly, just gaining one box of fencer should not have made any difference in harvesting resources. Neither was I grouped with anyone/anything, but now that you mention it, the amounts almost seemed as though I was grouped, hmmm. I do group with my pets to get higher missions, but I always ungroup before I leave town. If I don't the group HAMs always cover up my waypoints and there was nothing covering up my waypoints. Oh well, maybe harvesting will fix itself by tonight, yeah right.
From what I've seen...resource shifting doesn't mean a change in the TYPE of resource...but the amounts harvested can shift. So you're probably looking at a shift in the amounts. I've experienced this a bunch of times...especially in my early days hunting Chubas and Spineflaps in the "Newb Zone" for hide/bone to try to sell on the Bazaar. One day Spineflaps would give me 7units of hide. The next day I'd only get 2.
Its most likely a shift in amounts.
I have to agree with Amon on this... I noticed something very similar last night and was meaning on testing it today. Here's what was happening...
In a group of 5 I was getting 79 units of hide off of Mnt Squills.
Grouped with my GSP and Probot I got 84.
Solo I was getting 144.
Now... in theprocess ofdoing thisI leveled in rifleman and took a break to get training in advanced conceal tactics.
Suddenly I was getting 130 units off of each Squill. What's interesting was it was moving up and down a bit. Sometimes it was 130 sometimes 125 sometimes 139. All the same quality. This all seemed to coincide with the amount of work my pets did while taking down the critter. If I did all the work, higher yield. If I split the work, lower harvest. Very weird stuff.
My thought here... if you use a pet while taking down a creature it affects the amount of hide you get off it.

Guys,
First of all, the size of the creature will determine the amount of hide. A fat/healthy,sickly/scrawny, or an average animal will each give you different rates. Be sure to actually read the whole spam.
But it sounds like this is something different, so I need some more information here before I present this to the devs.
Can you get me the servers you are on, and verify that it is still happening? I specifically need types of creatures, what you were getting before, what you are getting now, if you were grouped, if you had any faction pets out, etc.
Just to be clear - resource shifts will result in you getting "1" and the creature will be skinny. Same for any creatures in a cave. Total amounts will not fluctuate based on resources shifts. Only the attributes of the items you are harvesting will actually change.

You know...I went back and read this...and I gotta clarify this...I must have been sober and not thinking clearly when I wrote this.
I've seen the amounts of resources a critter drops change from day to day as well as the quality/type of resources.
I didn't mean to give the impression a resource shift was only changing the amounts of resources a critter dropped. Creatures seem to go from Fat and Healthy to Skinny overnight while dropping the same resources, just different amounts.
I have too much blood in my beer stream right now. Forgive me. When I get home from the doc's tomorrow with orders to stop drinking beer and proceed to crack open a cold one in defiance...I'll be able to compose my thoughts more precisely.
In the mean time...just find me in game and /slap me. (No /snogging or I'll lekku-slap you into next tuesday).
