Thread: I'm confused. Do we suck or not
i dunno i havent had much luck since the recent kd nerf for us
i think we do now
but not before we were awesome before
they say that the life of a fencer is a difficult one but ultimatly rewarding.I DONT THINK SOOO. it is WAY to difficult. "all these marksmen have it soooo easy, and they are low level pistoleers or riflemen." at the begining it seems this way but once you develop your foot work your speed is supposedlyunmatched. the dmg may not be as high as, lets say, a bounty hunters would be, but while they are thinking about shooting you, you already got 3 hits in. i still think that the fencing proffession is unbalanced, the dmg should be higher.
i still find my self wondering why it is that sometimes i cant even solo a white or yellow /con enemy. i really hope that the devs work something out by either lowering the ham costs of special moves or increasing the damage or somthing.
Yep the speed is deffinatly benificial. i cant seem to get enough speed to get all the way up there though... it seems that what ever gives somewhat good xp, turns out to be too difficult. i end up using tons of specials and kill my self... lol.
like i said sony should do one oftwo things.... lower ham costs, or make damage higher
I dunno.
From my experience I can definitely say that we are at a serious disadvantage in PvP and as well we have difficulty attacking NPC's and creatures that attack at range. This is especially true since the infamous KD Nerf.
The trick, as I see it, is to choose your fights carefully and you might be surprised by what you can take down.I can and regularly do obliterate YELLOW conning Feral Banthas on Tatooine without sustaining serious injury. I get 900+ Fencing Experience and ~120 combat experience per kill.
How can I do this? Two things are involved. First, I always have a cheap MK 1 Shield generator equipped. This helps a lot since Banthas have an AP 0 attack meaning I take 50(?) percent less damage than I ordinarily would and I don't sufferany HAM penalties, letting me use all my specials to great effect. Second, I make use of all the traps available to a novice ranger, and some of them really help out in a fight. Contrary to popular belief, Ranger and Elite melee skills DO go together in a very complimentary fashion if you know what you're doing. I'm having a blast as a Fencer/Ranger.
Granted, I'm not soloing Krayt dragons like some of the Ranged players have managed to do, but I'm pretty happy with what I am able to do with the tools I have at hand. In my opinion, Fencers can still hold their own in PvE even though we're not quite as strong as I'd like us to be. But don't even bother with PvP. We're hopeless in that arena since the KD debacle.
Nice, Thror. I was wondering about Ranger/Fencer myself. I, however, opted to go the Fencer/Doctor route. Right now as a Novice Fencer/Novice Doctor (I can't buff yet). I do fairly well for myself in PvE. I don't have an uber weapon (although it's sliced, and my armor is mediocre also), but I can take on a whole mess of white creatures, a few yellows or weak red cons with little problem thanks to my healing ability. I doubt I'd enter the PvP arena though in a combat capacity, since I have no ranged ability whatsoever.
So, as I see it, most Fencers who want to PvP had better have a useful profession as a major and only break out the vibroblade if someone (insert another melee oriented class here) is foolish enough to run up on you thinking you're a helpess Doctor, Combat Medic, Dancer or whatever.
Fencer/Doctor is a great combo from what I've seen and heard. It just didn't suit me because I like having lots of toys and the ability to make myself a kind of home wherever I go.
My only gripe with the Ranger profession is that I still don't get the Creature to-hit bonus with melee weapons, at least I don't think I do. That's a really atrocious oversite by the devs and it illustrates all too poignantly just how often and how clearly the boys up top think about the melee professions.
*sigh*
just like me feralwookie
currently 4/4/0/3 in fencer...and im unstoppable in pve...im a zabrak so i also have the (spelling?)equibrilium ro soemthing race skill
say if your mind drops to 100....and u still got 2000 hp and 1500 action
then all stats will become equal 100+2000+1500=3600/3=1200(tho my mind max is 1000) so it will be 1300//1300//1000
then i just sue a stim and im good as ever
