Thread: PUT THE ARMOR QUESTION TO BED
I wear full advanced composite. I am a fencer of course. I cornerd an enraged Kima (please laugh here because nothing "corners" an enraged Kima). And while i was running for my life I got hit several times. One of the Kima hit stats I can remember was a hit my boots took that was a total of 3000 points...with out the boots I am very very dead....and i was able to sustain serveral hits before he killed me.heh. And there is no way, without the armor even buffed up, that a player can take those kinds of hits. Now this just applies to AI.
It may be different for pvp but i don't participate in that part of the game....I also use personnal sheild generators which seem to help some as well.![]()
Yeah! That's what I like to hear.A single brave person running up and smacking a Kimo with a stick, taking a few hits and living (or dying) to tell about it.
The armor makes all the difference in the world. All it needs to do is absorb a few hits for you and sometimes you can get out of their alive.
I would have hit Warcry 2, stuck 2 bleeds on it andthen ranlike hell before the 20 second delay wore off. Repeat as necessary until it falls over dead.
Cheap?Sort of.Do I care? Not really.
At least I run up to it and hit it. I dont use pets to hold it off while I shoot at it from a distance andI dont hit it with a bleed shot from 35mand play dead. The way I see it, if I have to almost commit suicide to run up to the thing and stick a couple bleeds on it, thenrisk it chasing me down and killing me, it's all good.
I am going to try that combo Rro. And seeing that that darn Enraged Kimo lives right out side my front door, it would seem, I should be able to tell you how well that combo works for me.
Since the kimo ate you anyway, I'm not sure if it really helped ![]()
I find armor occasionally saving my butt when i'm trying to run away from something really tough with a blaster (like Nightsisters).
Hi,
Don't forget. Good old fashioned Intimidate works very well. It might take 3-5 tries but it is worth it. (Warcry never worked for me and I am not going to master Brawler for now.)
I used to use high % chitin since it was very cost effective (few thousand each piece). Now I use Composites because people shoot me with blasters. I used to regret the change since ubese sometimes give you 60-70% kinetic. However, once blaster shooting enemies increased, I couldn't do without composites. (Plus, Ubese doesn't look good on me. My ... chest ... sticks out of the armor. So embarrassing! Please fix!)
Don't worry about the cost, once you are done with one of the skill tree, you should be able to make a considerable amount in a matter of few hours. Not only that, you will see that armor becomes less and less important. (with exception to the helmet ... gotta get a good one there.)
Last thing, stay away from Hilltop Kima's they tend to be in a pack and help each other. I had an unfortunate encounter with a herd and I had no burst run at the time. They send me back packing. ...
Qui'lu of Chilastra
P.S. It's fairly easy once you get the know-how, but know-how comes with painful encounters ... ![]()
Lol armor for pve is alright i assume... sometimes the ham encumberance isnt really worth it. For pvp its necessary, even tho i only wear a helmet and a cheast piece..
Either way, its really up to you, though wearing anything short of advanced composite is a complete waste of encumberance.

i would tend to disagree. Mabari for instance gives you the light armor rating, which halves the damage you take automatically. and has very very little encumbrance. which means i can use specials more than if i'm wearing composite. it also means i can wear more without stat migration if i don't want to.
that said, i wear composite. but i also drink tatooine sunburns like they're air. without those, i go no armor, or i'll use Ubese, since it's not as bad as Composite.
the devs have done armor almost right. there's not one "best" suit. certain professions prefer certain types, and individual style factors into it, as well.
there are so many variables; not *everyone* wears full suits of composite, which they would if it were clearly the best way to protect yourself. and it shouldn't be that way.
got that right!
My new character wears Ubese for now until my stats get done migrating. Then it's back to the composite. He's not a fencer though.
They have done well with the armor though. I just wish there was more of it.
I'm still working on getting a full suit of each to experiment with and see what I like best in what situation.
um... Is a Kima different from a Kimo? Kimo is short for Kimogilla.(or something like that) They can be found on Lok. Looks like a Krayt only not quite as nasty? We talking about the same thing here?

were all adults here, you can say boobies!
Armour is a complete waste of encumbrance?
Did anyone read my post?
Armour equip macro! Equip your armour for the fight! Trust me, its pretty easy to tell if your getting more out of it than your loosing to your specials, then the second the guy falls over, unequip it to recover. There is no middle ground here people.
Ive fought npc's that con red to me and hit for about 350 damage, and thanks to my armour (composite) I only take 100 damage, it blocks about 250. 250 a shot, where if i didnt have the armour id be saving myself what, maybe 50 per special?
Oh yeah, im a master armoursmith ![]()
