Yes Melee and Ranged Defense Cap at +125, and so does CounterAttack, Dodge, and Block.

Nope I've been watching my defenses closely for a year thru all the changes... when the caps went in I started getting hit a WHOLE lot more and not from capping on dodge... I've always just had Master Fencer Dodge.


Melee and Ranged Defense Skill Soft Caps at 125, it can be boosted 25 from skill tapes and or Bio Clothing (20 possible from clothing including backpack) to an effective 150... plus any food and drink additives that boost melee defence are allowed.


If you really want to tank DWB or Corvette get outfitted and you will have a better time of it... still won't be effective but you will at least stay alive longer.


Not really sure what the best melee defence food and drink is, I generally use mind altering foods due to the lack of at the keyboard musicians and dancers.

All defenses cap at 125. You may then add up to 25 using skill enhancing attachments (SEAs). You may then add in food/spice on top of that in order to get maximum stats for the particular mod.


So, for dodge, you can still get well over 200 dodge actively working for you.


125 maxed dodge from fencer/pistoleer

150 dodge with +25 from SEAs

200 dodge with +50 from pikatta pie (pikatta pie actually provdes more dodge bonus than this, but just for the purpose of the example)

240 dodge with +90 from denellian fizz <- try it out sometime, you are unhittable by most professions. A pikemen will hit you 1 time in 100 with this much dodge and COB running


For melee defense, you can get 175+ fairly easily using thesame method.


125 maxed from profession bonuses

150 with +25 from SEAs

180 with +30 from vegeparsine

Just to clarify, this is a Soft Cap.


Your number can increase as much as you can stack it... but only 125 will effect from skills.


Example from skills I have 172 Melee Defence. Only 125 is calculated.

Hmm i thought from that publish they only capped dodge, counterattack and block... I don't remember reading about all stats.

Pikatta pie does not increase dodge (pistoleer/fencer defense), but general defenses. So anyone can use this and get a bonus. Proof from devs in this link:
