Thread: Unofficial: Spoke w/Devs about Fencer, in real life.

Just so happens SOE/SWG developers live/work in my city-- I ran into a pile of them at lunch, and asked some questions about whats to come with the combat rebalance, fencer, wookies...


They said, ALTHOUGH this is subject to change, the following is planned for the next release (pub 10):


1) Wookies will get 2 new types of armor

2) Fencer will be nerfed:

A) Dodge will be completely removed and replaced with a small amout of block

B) Fencer will be mostly a DOT-Based character (you read that correct) with a new Dot attack

C) Swordsmen will be STATE based.

D) TK/Jedi will be the best combination (for removing states/poisons/etc)

E) Riflemen will have a 5 second delay between shots, and reduced damage

F) Stun damage/defenses are considered broken and will be re-worked with the new armor an combat rebalance

G) Force Run-2/3 will not be nerfed, and they laughed about how the jedis can run, throw saber to blow up bikes in persuit..

H) Your MAIN character will become your Jedi..not a new character

I) It is currently NOT possible to become a Jedi, if you've already unlocked, you will have to wait for pub10 to become a jedi


... thats about all I got outta them ... This was just word-of-mouth, so I can't gurantee its 100% correct, just what I was told.

Almost forgot-- Doctor buffs.. severly nerfed-- You will only be able to get a MAX of 200% of your current stats..


Thus, if your Str is 200, fully buffed w/master doc bufs, you will only get 600 HAM, not +2400


... and all damage output of ALL classes has been reduced.

one small fact the combat rebelance is not publish 10 it is 11 as for changing fencer to just dor attacks we i dont thjink so,

2) Fencer will be nerfed:

C) Swordsmen will be STATE based.more probably pikemen

D) TK/Jedi will be the best combination (for removing states/poisons/etc) come CB there shall be noFotM

E) Riflemen will have a 5 second delay between shots, and reduced damage different cap for different profession would make sense

F) Stun damage/defenses are considered broken and will be re-worked with the new armor an combat rebalance got hit with a SB once too many ?

G) Force Run-2/3 will not be nerfed, and they laughed about how the jedis can run, throw saber to blow up bikes in persuit. i laugh at jedis too, indeed its all i can do

5 secs on the rifleman i can still understand , but 5 secs and reduced damage?! LOLOL i bet he lunched with Bush yesterday also...

First off, I'm no troll, I'm an high active player... Second, the lunch happened at NXNW (North By North West) in Austin, TX, yesterday @ 12:15pm.

Oh and one of your characters is a jedi not two, your main becomes FS, you get a second character and may make that FS too, IF you do the trials AGAIN with that character..


Oh well, Im retreating to space come JtL, leave the ground to the CM/Rifleman and the Jedi.

Just as a note, regardless of weather this occured or not, if it isn't in Patch notes, it isn't in the game. And unless it's stated in one of the Devs posts here, it isn't in the works.

My understanding is:


Publish #10: The Jedi Trials



  • Complete overhaul of the path to becoming Force Sensitive
  • Combat Balance: A major overhaul to the combat system and balances of our game.
  • Squad Leader Revamp

Publish 11 is the change to the GCW

I believe the original poster... however, everything is subject to change of course.



However, it sounds like reasonable changes.



Not sure how swordsman will be able to compete with only state changes and no bleeds.



That might mean the death of swordsman.
