Thread: Defenses
Thunderheart is very fired up about fixing professions right now, which is a good thing. He has asked us to (once again) submit issues to the Devs, and he claims that we should hear a response soon. (Like you guys, I'll believe it when I see it.)
Here's something I thought was interesting, though ... the Pikeman top 3 issues talk about defenses as well:
- Defenses don't work or aren't effective (including TC changes), defense vs. states aren't seen to be working properly, toughness is too low, block does not work ever. CoB only affects our targeted enemy, but all of our attacks are AREA attacks, being tough against one enemy when 4 are attacking is useless.
I'm going to try to work with the Pikeman Correspondent and other melee correspondentsto test defenses on Test Center, since they already have access. The fact that they notice the same things that I do tells me that we might accomplish more by banding together with melee and trying to get this addressed as a global issue instead of just including it on our long list of Pistoleer problems.
I've been working with some of the other Correspondents on other issues. You'll be pleased to know that the Marksman Correspondenthas made the FWG5 issue a top priority and has also asked about the certification for the Republic Blaster.
There's nothing else new to report. I just thought you guys might find this interesting, since apparently we're not the only ones with defenses that don't work.
I would suggest contaction whomever is the new BH correspondent and having him+Meelee test with you...
For the simple fact that the BH's have the most *single* state effect shots......And if they use CDEF weapons you can garner alot of test data.
fixing dodge would make us cool.
dubious, master smuggler, pistoleer, naritus
I wont hold my breath, but expressing defense problems that go across the board of proffessions will help greatly.....I am not without hope.
This tactic may just work in getting the message across that defense mods are clapped out.
Seems to me if everyones defenses are broken that it could be the SAME section of code effecting us all.
Hence, one fix shuts up alot of people.

Samra, I've got 1 suggestion. Instead of saying "Our specials are broken." I think you should be real specific and say "Disarm2 is broke, Bodyshot3 is not effective" , real precise statements like that. A dev that doesn't play at all will read something like "Our specials are broken" and be clueless. I know you explain more in paragraphs later but I think things might get overlooked this way if they have to dig through paragraphs to get the specifics.
I do, don't worry. They just asked me for our "Top 5 Issues" again -- it seems like they ask me for the same issues every day -- and I made them long paragraphs, not single sentences. For the broken specials, I went through each one in the paragraph to be specific.

LOL, OMG, I love this, this is precious. Not you Phil, that statement, ROFLMAO. Give them this.
Pistoleer top 5 Issues
1.) Same issue's we gave you last week
2.) Which happen to be the same issue's we gave you the week before
3.) Which also happen to be the same issue's we gave you last month
4.) Wouldn't you believe it, same Issue's we gave you two months ago
5.) Same Issues that you have been to lazy to fix since DAY ONE!
There we go, our Top 5 issues...Why do I have a feeling I'm gonna get banned again really soon??? hmm, might be because the Dev's are getting me all frustrated with their stupidity. They haven't fixed a single stupid thing, so what makes them think that the issues are gonna be different? Do they think the problems will fix themselves??????????????????
Samra,
This is what I'd ask for, very similar to your State of the Profession report... only narrowed down to more specific details.
1) Attach a 5-second combat delay to disarm shot2. A message saying "You have been disarmed by Defiler's Master shootingand spend 5 seconds fumbling for your weapon!" would be great. Similar to panic shot and warcry. Perhaps make it a low-chance special, I'm not sure how Panic shot works (if it hits does it automatically cause the delay, or is there a chance to resist?.... "Your attempt to disarm your opponent failed!") ?
2) Put the code for the AoE Fanshot cone that just got nerfed away from us into Multi-target.
3) Add an additional +10 speed to the Master box.
4) Take the awesome gift of +20 Defense vs. KD and put it in the Master box.
5) Make bodyshot3 more effective for non-masters (reduce delay).
Alternates: (lol, in case one of those is declared unreasonable)
6) PMD2 is currently useless. Give it a chance to apply a negative state like dizzy, stunned, or intimidated.
7) Dodge - please look at the formula and ensure that this is working correctly.
-------
This is addressing the same problems, just adds recommendation/proposals to it so they know what we have in mind.
It would solve the problem of gaining 2 useless specials at Master. It would solve the problem of somebody going up just Techniques and achieving what will be some nice defensive mods and also our (current) best specials. It would solve the problem of non-Masters not havinga special withbetter dpsthan Marksman Kip-up or Bodyshot2 (by fixing Bodyshot3).
Am I missing anything more important? I don't think that any of this is too much to ask, and if it all happened we would have a solid profession. We still wouldn't have a ranged KD or a ranged negative-state-applier, and without those 2 things I don't see how a ranged class could ever be considered overpowered.
The reason I left Dodge for last is I can't come up with anything specific to say about it. I don'thave any specific ideas ofhow they could fix it, and I think that's a long-term problem (same as block for Pikeman) that I hope gets attention.
Yes, make it happen and you'll go down in the Pistoleer Correspondent history book as "The One." lol
Thanks for the good suggestions, izdefiler. Unfortunately I had to follow their format ... they wouldn't let me make it a recommendation/proposal list. They had a fairly specific format -- it was the "Top 5 Issues" and so I had to do things like "ISSUE #1: BROKEN SPECIALS" etc. I purposely made the "issues" as broad as possible to get everything I could into them, since they vaguely indicated that they were going to fix the stuff that made the Top 5.
I got specific within each issue to get everything in there, though, so nothing is left out. It would have been a lot easier if I could have just told them how we want things fixed, but maybe it's better this way. *shrug* I didn't really have a choice in that.
I think you'll like what I wrote, since it's basically ripped right out of my State of the Profession Report. Iwasn't givenmuch time to write the Top 5 Issues, to put it mildly, but since I had done the Report already it was easy to take what I wrote from there and re-use it.
