Thread: New proffesion Idea..
I'd just like your ideas and feedback on here, no need to get violent ![]()
New Hybrid Proffesion:
We can think up a name for this thing, but to start you off the premise is 'Ninja'. (I know how stupid ninja sounds, which is why I'm not using it.)
A hybrid of Fencers and Teras Kasi.. some time in the future after the space expansion maybe... A user of melee weapons and unarmed, acrobatics, more (grenade/trap style) thrown weapons, knives and the like, to give a defence against marksmen... Using the meditation and 'ritualistic' parts of teras kasi and advanced forms and stances of fencers... A new armour set for this group, usable by all, but much more effective when worn by one of this 'ninja' class...This armour is primarily resistant to blast, kinetic, and stun, but vulnerable to heat etc... Advanced forms of burst running and such... Dual weapons could perhaps be incorporated at some point... shields........ probably not, but perhaps... the ability to mix and match moves; While using a sword, you could still kick your enemy... A move near identical to the 'Pistol whip' of bounty hunter: Hilt whack (
Think up something better!), where you stun/dizzy/blind your enemy with a hit to the head...

Yeah, the two-handed route would mean building on three profesions, but I would like to see the skills built on from different proffesions.
If you combined TKA & Fencer the sword portion of er... Nin.. no cant say it on this forum.. CQB specialist would use a One Handed weapon where as a TKA & Swordsman would use a 2 handed blade.
Would like to have seen something similar for smugglers unarmed/one-handed as i felt a smuggler would rather have a knife as a backup.

the katana is made to be used as a one handed sword but it cause have two hands for extra power if needed. from the book of five rings and mastering the way of bushido.

yeah, it would be nice to have ninja like abilities, but then we'd also have to add some badass moves and abilities to pistoleers and bounty hunters. which i'm not averse to, but it may make it hard to balance. unforunately, i would probably side with whatever the devs said on this one. they know the intricacies of the game better than we do.
i'll always be for better movement as a fencer since our lives often depend on it. it's the same reason the little guys are the best running backs. they have the dear. if they're caught, they're dead.
don't push me, i'm a fencer, and i'm not afraid to run like a little girl.
I don't really like the idea of a class that can dual wield steming off of a class that has a powerful dizzy/kd skill.
Besides, after mastering TKA, Fencer, and this new class, a character would have a whopping 10 skill points left. That means he wouldn't be able to even take a novice of another profession. I say make it a fencer elite class since they don't really have a good stun skill.
Wish there was an edit button...
Anyway, I think it would be better if this class were spawned off of Fencer and Scout's Exploration/Trapping tree.
Hybrid it. You don't need master TKA or master fencer for it, perhaps just 50% of both? Or less? Just one or two skill columns each. I like the scout idea, trapping = caltraps, area effect that slows down your enemy and causes action damage and health bleeding.
Keep talking here, leave off the sarcasm about the unfortunate preliminary name, and stop picking holes in the idea based upon its rough comparison, I created this thread for the purpose of refining the idea, not to have it blasted into little pieces because of the word ninja ![]()
Teras kasi was probably compared to various martial arts before the original name was decided.
A new hybrid seems a good dea although the naming really needs a bit of work as the modern conertation of Ninj. is a little off putting (He says with an ID like mine <<< :smileyvery-happy![]()
The ability to add a little sculdugery to a class with a hybrid of one hand and unarmed mixed with a few grenade like components. Maybe some unusual weapons that mix barriers beyond the one handed unarmed.
If we where to use nin's as an example they where not any single weapon class. Unarmed obviously, but their main sword was a ninjato, shorter than a katana, cheaper and disposable, taught used in one hand to keep second available for other attacks. They also commonly used polearms and also chain weapons like the kusarigama (sickle with chain), good for entangle or KD attacks ?
With such a possible variation of weapon usage that could be restricted to this class maybe as an elite version of brawler that is able to use a broad range of weaponry or unarmed techniques, ability to attack the different hams with different weapons (not sure if that would be codable). Maybe certain weapons have an inbuilt modifyer to some attack options.
Generally I would like to see some nice hybrid options away from the basic 4 trees, but they do need to be worked into the SW galaxy in addition to being good for gameplay. I know others have got things not in SW theme but lets us rise obove that.
