Thread: TIP THIS!!!
I AM NOT TIPPING ANYMORE!!!!
You ask why? I say because its pointless and a waste of money. First off I'm a novice bio engineer/medic. Money isnt just following my way. What I make I useally spend right away on supples. Then i heal people and yes get a few tips but more inportantlly XP. But I've never and never seen a medic ask for tips. Yet every time I go into a cantina you get spamed with "Listen to the band get healed and DONT FORGET TO TIP". ARGHH. It angers me to the point thatI cant spell. ButI get over it and tip the people what I can. So today dayI get healed for 145BF. WhichI got from healing. The whole timeI got those messages.But due to lack of fundsI could notgive away what I had left. So I left without tipping.But less then 20 secs awayI get /tell message:
Deyuo tells you,'Hey you ran out without tipping thats not kool.See if I play for you agian mother #%#$#%'.(yes cool witha 'k')
I was takin a back. He swore at me over a tip. Angry I kept going on with my day. But he contuied to /tell with them getting worse each time. Finally he gave up. I wouldn't be so angry if this wasn't the same treatment that enertainers mostly all give. Well I got news for you entertainers. You also get something called XP not just tips when you healm me.
You see tipping is dum because when it comes down to it entertainers dont need money. They arent buying weapons or armor or supplies for stem paks LIKE ME. They need clothes and an insterment which they can make themselfs. And most dancers are prefreed without clothes. If it was needed the DEVs would of made it so you had to pay to get healed. But they didn't and I for one i'm not going to fall into the entertainers propaganda of TIP US. Why don't you go do missions or take up a second skill.
On a last note to entertainers: Dont ask for tips and you'll get more tips.
Just ignore those weirdos, there is some good folk out there who took up on Entertainment.
I for myself will never ask for tip, a tip is just that .. a tip.
Many of the Entertainer probably took up on this profession because they think - Hey cool, I get money for standing around and hitting a few keys (or macroing 24/7) . Well let me tell you this - YOU WON'T
I disagree with your statement about the entertainers don't need money, even we have desires - a house maybe or some sort of transportation (Vehicle addon). And you can't imagine what we spend on Clothes,well not all but some of us are very picky when it comes to that *g*
And for your exp remark, maybe we get some exp while healing you - but remember at some point in the game we don't need to make this exp anymore, what happens than? That is the time where the serious Entertainers get separated from those - "Hey Tip me kiddies"- that is thepoint where we spendour time in the cantinas just to entertain you.
Don't make generality from a fool.
If someone spams you with too many tips reclaim, just type
/addignore <fooltipaskername>
And some of us DON'T NEED THE XP ANYMORE ! I don't need your xp and I have never asked for tips. So don't put all of us in the same bag. And I don't expect any money from medics. They heal us even if it's for raising their skills (not all sometimes some master Doctor heal me lol).
And we need money too, and how do you know if we're not the people who buy you the so expensive tools you made ?

PS : Why people comes here to whin about a particular entertainer who may be a third profession entertainer ?
1) Definitely /addignore that entertainer, you don't need that kind of grief
2) Well it's true medics don't beg for tips outload, many of them /tell user fees in advance. Entertainers can't really do that, cause with an entertainer, if I'm helping one person and someone else comes in, I'm automatically helping them too - unless I cut off my first customer until the new one tips. I'm not about to do that.
3) Entertainers need quite a bit of money. Without doubling as an Artisan we can't make any clothing at all. And as far as instruments, they reguire a fair bit of minerals to make, which we can't get ourselves without moonlighting as Artisans. Then, of course, many entertainers need money for training - I've spent 9000 so far, and that's just the very beginning. Sure, once there's 2 or 3 Master Entertainers in an area so that one is online all the time, the cost for training drops, but don't assume our profession is free.
4) Responding to you I assume is pointless for your benefit, I'm just doing it to let the Entertainers know a different point of view - since you aren't an entertainer, you likely don't frequent this board.

First of all, as amusician,I would like to apologies for Deyuo's behavior. You did not deserve such treatment. NO ONE does! I am an entertainer, 200,000 XP away from Master Musician. I have never macroed a routine. But I understand the reasons and willingness behind it.
However I have been (for lack of a better word)guilty of reminding patrons to tip. I do this rarely. But the fact is I have. One of my reminders lets patrons know that they don't have to leave and go to the bank if they don't have the cash on them. They could simply type '/tip bank <first name> and they are all good. Many patrons including some entertainers are unaware of this command.
I wholeheartedly agree with the statements above regarding '/addignore <first name>'. Try standing in a cantina for hours at a time, making small talk with regulars and new alike, getting spammed every 2 minutes bythe oblivious AFK entertainer. NOT FUN! /addignore is a priceless command when you really need it.
As for you Deyuo, if you come across this post, of which you are truly the catalyst, I have two words for you.

I'm sorry I grouped all entertainers in the same boat. Your right this is the first time some one bothered me that much and it will propbly be the last. As money I'am not saying you dont need it I'm just saying that you don't need to baragge every costomer that comes in. If I'm going to tip anyone its beacuse They were goo entertainers by Entertaining and not tipping.

As an entertainer, often a medic's heals are more welcome than tips. Especially for dancers who use up a lot of action. There is nothing more annoying than being in the middle of a dance and having to stop to rest.
You can tip us with action heals. Gets XP for you, lets us dance longer, costs you no credits.
Note: I thank people for action heals exactly the same way I do for credits. I know, if entertainers are the most broke group in the game, medics are 2nd most, so I understand where you are coming from not having enough money.

OKay, as a fellow Medic (almost master yay!) I feel your pain, but I must also say you are a bit over generalizing. Remember, this game is full of people who *gasp* can be jerks!
Sometimes one needs to see more than their "home turf" to gain a perspective, and to once again like the game (and people). I took up entertainer so I could be a "on stop healer shop" (Catchy no? :smileywink
and I've enjoyed being a musician. Yes, they don't TECHNICALLY need to spend any money, but you know what? Neither do we! I could /tenddamage and /tendwound all day long and then relax in the cantina. Will I do very well? Hell no! Will I enjoy it? Hell no!
The same can be said for entertainers. Sure they COULD stick with the basic stuff, but I have yet to meet anyone who likes those basic clothes. (Heck I LOVE my medical clothes, do you know how much that stuff costs?! 6K baby!) Sure sure, do missions, heck we ALL do missions. That's no reason to say they don't need money.
Now I understand, these annoying pricks can be just that, annoying; but it's no need to take it out on a whole profession. Just relax, enjoy the game, and ignore the jerks and you'll live longer thanks to lower blood pressure. Take that as good advice from you're local country doctor!

Hi. People who master their chosen skillset (Master Musicians and Dancers) don't get exp anymore for healing you. In fact, they get nothing. A massive heap of it, as a matter of fact. Don't want to tip them? Fine by me. But don't expect to ever see me in a cantina healing your sorry ass when I could be off getting paid to play a band gig with six friends at someone's party.

Everybody needs money. That's how economies work. Can't buy crafting tools to make my instruments with without money. Can't train novice skills of any given profession without money.

Because entertainers generally have their stats optimized for entertaining, not fighting. But wait, even for those that can fight, it may require them to buy a weapon. Buying a weapon costs money. I thought we didn't need money. Why are you tipping us?

Second what I really ment to say is that you don't need as much money as other people, So you shouldn'tspam us with messages and I know you've all seen people do it. Almost every cantian gots one guy doing it. Third Iknow what the flesh wraps are and I didn't mean those, it was more of a srcastic joke saying down to the bare white skimppys. Forth I'm truely sorry if you got all the way to master and you think I'dcare,Imany times listen to more newb playersbecause Iknow they need the xp. Lastly there is lots of other missions then just kill destroy, I know I've done them with the artisain I started and stoped.
So in conclusion I'm talking to all those entertainers who think they deserve money from eveybodyform every little heal.And I wont tip those who ask till the devs makeme.
