Thread: TIP THIS!!!
I never tip people who ask. But I do tip everyone else. Ever since I reached Novice TKA I have been tipping very good. When I first started the highest tip I gave out was like 100. I was spending most of my money on new equipment. But now over the past 2 nights I have spent 30k just on entertainers. My character enjoys his time in the bar lol.
Alright. I've seen this argument so many times, it's not even funny. I have a dancer on Flurry, who will remain nameless for now. She is now about a third of the way through the Dancer skill tree and working on gaining Novice Tailor. She has a decent selection of clothes and a bank account strong enough to keep her comfortable. Did it come from tips? No.
The simple fact is that delivery missions are just as profitable as destroy missions. I can take a round trip from Mos Espa to Mos Eisley and back and net about 2600 cr. Do I need tips? No. On the other hand, some of the dancers add an incredible amount of atmosphere to the cantina where I usually dance. Those are the dancers that need your tips. They don't get out of the cantina often and I have taken it upon myself to help them along with wardrobe or what ever, if they need it. If you don't want to tip them, maybe you can offer them something else...
What it all boils down to is that the patrons have to pay attention. If they are an AFK/macro dancer, don't tip them. If you don't like the incessant requests, don't tip them. However, if they put an active effort into their routine and openly RPing with you or the other customers, please, please, PLEASE tip the ladies and gentleman. Not only do they need the tips, but they actually add to the game.
Oh, and this applies to the musicians, too. Sorry guys! ![]()

I AM NOT TIPPING ANYMORE!!!!
You ask why? I say because its pointless and a waste of money. First off I'm a novice bio engineer/medic. Money isnt just following my way. What I make I useally spend right away on supples. Then i heal people and yes get a few tips but more inportantlly XP. But I've never and never seen a medic ask for tips. Yet every time I go into a cantina you get spamed with "Listen to the band get healed and DONT FORGET TO TIP". ARGHH. It angers me to the point thatI cant spell. ButI get over it and tip the people what I can. So today dayI get healed for 145BF. WhichI got from healing. The whole timeI got those messages. But due to lack of fundsI could notgive away what I had left. So I left without tipping. But less then 20 secs awayI get /tell message:
Deyuo tells you,'Hey you ran out without tipping thats not kool.See if I play for you agian mother #%#$#%'.(yes cool witha 'k')
I was takin a back. He swore at me over a tip. Angry I kept going on with my day. But he contuied to /tell with them getting worse each time. Finally he gave up. I wouldn't be so angry if this wasn't the same treatment that enertainers mostly all give. Well I got news for you entertainers. You also get something called XP not just tips when you healm me.
You see tipping is dum because when it comes down to it entertainers dont need money. They arent buying weapons or armor or supplies for stem paks LIKE ME. They need clothes and an insterment which they can make themselfs. And most dancers are prefreed without clothes. If it was needed the DEVs would of made it so you had to pay to get healed. But they didn't and I for one i'm not going to fall into the entertainers propaganda of TIP US. Why don't you go do missions or take up a second skill.
On a last note to entertainers: Dont ask for tips and you'll get more tips.
Wanting tips is one thing. Harassing people because they didn't tip is something else entirely. Honestly, with an attitude like your's (they don't need money, it's an easy/worthless profession, etc.) I wouldn't heal you either, but whoever was /telling you because you walked out of the Cantina and couldn't afford to tip is a complete tool.
Asking directlyfor tips orpolitely suggestingyou should tip your entertainerarepersonal pet peeves of mine. Every time I saw a fellow musician / dancer say "Come on in, and don't forget to tip!" I would cringe. It's just impolite. You're providing a valuable service to people, most of them will acknowledge that and reward you. I never once asked for a tip and I averaged 1-3k a day in tips while leveling up in the cantinas. Granted that didn't make me rich by any stretch of the imagination, but it's not nearly as bad as Ihear somepeople complaining about.
Oh, and naked dancers (with the default white underwear look) get under my skin too. Come on people, be professional!
I /addignore people with tip messages in their entertainer macros. I can't tell you how many times I've had other people in an entertainer group say something like, "so and so is asking if you'll train them... Didn't you see?"
On the other hand.... People with your attitude that treat entertainers like NPC mind healing stations are the reason that master level entertainers are alomst never seen in public cantinas anymore. If we didn't have to rely on the honor system to be paid for our services you'd be able to go into a cantina and get a REAL entertainer (one that suits you) to heal you instead of AFK macro bots with annoying tip begging spam.
As a medic, I always require a pre-payment tip before I heal. I will do one /tendwound to prove I can heal them.
This game has an economy! Do you need to tip every entertainer/medic in the room? NO! If you frequent the same cantina a lot you don't have to tip them every time, especially if you're broke.
But the really good musicians/dancers rarely leave the cantina to run missions...which would only pay a few measly credits since they'd be a difficulty of 3 or something.
Quit being a tightwad and spread the credits a little. My CH has 30,000 credits and nothing to spend em on cept travel tickets, medics and entertainers (and he's also a medic/musician).
I often redistribute my tips to my fellow band members since I don't really need em. Why? Cuz I'm nice, it helps them, and helps the whole game world.
Awww I'm sorry Doomus that you had such a bad experience.
Most of us Entertainers don't ask for tips, tips are tips - your choice.Yes I do need money for things, butof course its not things like you do I dance because i love to - not in for the money, if i was I've got a long way to go LOL
I hope your next visit in a cantina is much better, and you really should have not gotten a rude tell from that person.

I'm an Architect but I started up an Entertainer for the heck of it. I enjoy it, but I do see a bunch of arse-heads. One guy that I refuse to group with just says "Tipz me plz!" over and over while playing. I didn't get into this for the tips because I know how unrealiablea source of income they can be. I do this for fun.
As far as tips go, every so often I will say, "Thanks for the tips everyone, they're appreciated." That way noone feels obligated, and those that haven't tipped may feel like they should. I really don't care either way.
The only thing that bugs me about entertaining so far is that you can't craft while playing. I mean my architect can run across a desert at 5 miles an hour while making a house. If we're going to be unrealistic, let's make it even across the boards.
I think the point was that he was being harrased by another player, much like a beggar.
That said, I do tip from what I have because to many times there are no entertainers in the cantina. Also when the "camping while entertainers heal you" is fixed there is no reason on some long missions or XP gathering explorations an entertainer cannot come along and help heal the group and get part of the take.
I believe,This is what the developers had in mind.![]()
Cause as it stands right now I can't find an enterainer to go withon missions![]()
To the original poster, sounds like you just found a bad apple, don't let that experience sour you on entertainers in general. Be friendly with them and tip/action heal if you can, and I think that you will enjoy the cantina socializing.
