I was just curious if there is a general rate that is considered the proper etiquette when tipping an entertainer. For example, x number of credits per battle fatique point healed.

at one time there was... and the general discussion was to tip between 1-500 for the average joe 5-1000 to the ents you liked and then the other "house" did about 3-5cr per bf healed....this was near launch ... now however no one tips entertainers... they just take advantage of them, send them fake tips and overall don't respect it.

That is not to far from the truth 9 out of 10 guests dont tip. The last one tip only if he/she remembers. But I am an entertainer too, and I say stop whining about tips, if you made a entertainer to get rich youre definitly barking up the wrong tree.

But if you want to tip an entertainer that was ATK, as they call it, then 100 cr's is a good start. But if you are a doctor/medic/combat medic, or what ever you healers can call your self, then I think I heard an unwritten rule that goes. We dont tip yuo and you heal us for free. When I play a combat role, got two chars/accounts I always tip he/she who healed me in the group I was hunting with. To bad not more people do that, cause it sure is expensive to be a medic too.

Cheers.

I never expect any tips, especially when I'm afk.

those two statements in bold do not work together just so ya know.

Just thought I'd point out that that is not entirely true. Well known entertainers who work hard DO make money. I'm all entertainer for my charachter and have over 8 mil. My band members have millions from entertainment too... I'd say the average is about 1.5 mil for them. So it CAN be done. You just need to work extreemly hard, get a great band and then your set

Ok, I retract my statement, but I have yet to get a serious tip so I can make ticket fare to and from different planets. I Am on Naboo at lot, and if I travelle I hope that I atleast hope to get enouugh in tips so I can travelle back knowing I made some cash, comepared to combat classes us entertainers are prolly the class that has the hardest time makinig some CR's.

But as you say, if we work hard we can get alot, but it would also help if people stopped seeing us as heal and buff bots. Yes I am there to heal, but I am defnitly also there to socialise and make the role of entertainer an intresting visit, and not just some heal or buff bot. So to all your combat classes tell us about your deeds and exploits, I would love to hear yuo war stories and react from them, it takes so little to make it fun while being healed. So give it a try.

Cheers.

Been wondering myself about this topic for awhile now, since I'm new to the game and don't have a great grasp of values in the economy yet.

Anyone care to share the average/range of tip amounts they usually receive, for comparitive purposes?

I'd guess that in my experience about half of my 'customers' do tip (not counting the major hubs, Coronet/Theed etc. - that's more like 1 out of 10 or less). My most common tips range from 1k - 2k, although 5k tips are becoming a bit more common. The majority of the time that I get a tip for less than 1k, it's usually accompanied by a comment that they wished they could tip more, but they're just starting out and broke, etc. On the high end, I've received several tips of 10k+, but these amounts are infrequent. Note that I'm not counting tips for buffs in these figures, as I'm not experienced enough to do good ones yet (haven't even tried one, to be honest); these amounts are just from dancing in cantinas, and chatting/entertaining as best I can.

Anyone else seeing tips like these?

Am I just getting really great tips, or is this fairly common? Do you think I'm getting higher tip amounts because generous players are trying to help me get started out, or am I just doing something right? Do you think some people are just so sick of AFK macrotainers that they'll heavily tip those of us who are obviously live and working hard?

If my tips are indeed above the general average because of the high AFK volume of 'entertainers', I hope the AFKers stick around as long as possible, because it's helping my bank account!

The only circumstances under which you should tip an entertainer are when:

A) They are not AFK.

B) They do not specifically ask you for tips. (ex: Soandso shouts: "Don't forget to tip the entertainers!")

If you can find an entertainer who matches the above two criteria, I applaud you. Feel free to shower them with tiny bantha statues... or a monetary sum of your choice. The fact that you tipped at all, to a real entertainer, can be amazing.

If the entertainer is part of a hired, professional band playing a party or a wedding, it'sreally yourchoice: They're already getting paid, are theydoing a good enough job to be deserving of more money? If not, at least applaud their performance anyways - recognition can be more rewarding than more money to some people in that situation.

While this is true, I made my fortune with novice artisan and surveying 3 ( not enough skill points for 4 ) and this nets about 95% of my income. I have ME, MD, MM and the Hairstyling line of ID, but those entertainer skills pay the travel costs and maybe a new dress in a while. I'm not saying you can't get rich. But it's probably like in real life, Stars will be rich, the "normal" entertainer people need a day job.

( Don't have 8M yet, mostly because I bought two sets of ST armor for my performance and some rank to slip through scans )

Tips almost always come in five flavors:

- Nothing.

The inconsiderate people.

- 50cr from someone in his starter clothes.

Well worth it, although I'm attempted to tip her/him 10K back so s/he can have a decent start. These 50cr, though not helping me, say a lot about the customer.

- 250cr from someone in advanced composite talking about her/his leet krayt enhanced T-21

This person earned maybe 250K from his mission payouts with his 500K composite and 400K rifle. When s/he comes to heal the wounds received from it, I'm worth a promille. I'd say keep it. I will be polite and thank the person, but I will not think he was generous. What would your next waiter say when you tip him a cent ? Yeah, thought so.

- 1K - open end

This is a nice and generous tip from someone who probably could afford it. Nice customer

- Free Heals

In early release, medics and entertainers were a perfect team. Healing without a pack gave mind wounds, to be cured by entertainers, to be healed by medics... good teams. Nowadays it's almost Ninja-Healing in the cantinas for farming med xp. Plus most entertainers have already maxed their stats so they can dance all night. Don't need that anymore, but if I see that someone is trying to help me and not farming xp, that's fine as a tip, too.

The tip is a show of apreciation for a dancers entertainment so in my minds eye 1 credit is still worth a thank you, thats not to say 1,000,000 credits wont get a special thank you. Since I don't know your income I foolishly imagine every customer who tips me has emptied his bank account and sold off all his earhtly posesions to tip me so Im gratefull. That said if you need a rule of thumb give me a percentage of your mission pay outs that Im healign the BF for. This is fair to both of us, if your having a bad night and only made 500 credits and your rule of thumb is 10% I'm goign to make 50 credits and thats a very generous tip concidering your income for the night, on the other hand when you score a 30k mission and it goes well Im going to make a lot more. Paying me per BF point healed seems to me cruel because on your worst night huntign your goign to pay the most and I would rather just listen to you cry on my shoulder about your night and only soak you for a small tip on nights like that hoping you'll remmber me on your better nights.

We are truly blessed to have a reliable member of our community who so willingly displays what NOT to do. Thank you, Jason, for your selflessness.

Never tip an AFKer. Unless you tip them 1 credit and tag it along with a message suggesting that was the tip they earned.

Tipping, worst case to best.
ATKer that is spamming 1 flourish over and over or not flourishing, no chat: nothing. The idea is to reward effort.
Any request for tips: No more than a tenth of what you would normally tip or nothing.
ATKer that flourishes in a way that flows with the music/dance: 50-250. It might be a macro, it might be one flourish at a time. Either way he took time to make a pleasing performance.
Chat, not directed at you but obviously unmacroed: 50-500. They are putting in some effort here. Don't worry about flourishes; chances are that was macroed to leave room for the important part of the experience.
Chat, directed at you, and a greeting: 1k-5k depending on finances. You were notice, acknowledged, and tried to make welcome.
Invitation for requests: if a dancer/musician asks if there is another dance/song you want to hear, tip big. Really big. Especially if you want to hear something low at the expence of XP or something high that not everyone can play. The XP concern is irrelevent to masters, of course; that only applies to people working up the skills.
