This is a pseudo-scientific attempt to understand the unattended buffbot phenomenon. Please, be truthful and to others who do not like buffbots, please refrain your ire. Basically, I want to know the answers to the following questions:

1)--What motivated you to buff and serviceunattended?

2)--Did you buy and maintain the account by yourself, or in conjunction with friends?

3)--What skills do you have and what enhancements do you have?

4)--How were your enhancements acquired?

5)--Where did you level and how long did it take to level?

6)--Any special techniques you use (30 second buff, 10 minute buff, 3.10 minute buff)?

7)--How many credits do you make on average in a day?

8)--Where do you usually perform your services?

9)--When do you log on and when do you log off?

10)--Is this your only character?

11)--If so, do you play your other character when the buffer is running?

12)--How are your lots used?

13)--How often do you physically play your buffbot?

14)--If you do, about how long each day?

15)--Any comments, good or bad, that you receive while running your servicing macro?

16)--If unattended entertaining were disabled, would you keep your account?

17)--If so, would you still be an entertainer?

18)--Any additional comments?

Thank you for your time!

1)--What motivated you to buff and serviceunattended? Lack of performers in my player city cantina.

2)--Did you buy and maintain the account by yourself, or in conjunction with friends? Myself

3)--What skills do you have and what enhancements do you have? Various + healing clothes, bought from Tailors or on the bazzar

4)--How were your enhancements acquired? Purchased

5)--Where did you level and how long did it take to level? Various, a long time

6)--Any special techniques you use (30 second buff, 10 minute buff, 3.10 minute buff)? No

7)--How many credits do you make on average in a day? 0-10k

8)--Where do you usually perform your services? Bestine, Live, Mos Casia, Live and bot, Eclipse

9)--When do you log on and when do you log off? Uusally about 5:30 pm central to 10pm central, unless I leave the bot running, in which case whenever the system logs me off.

10)--Is this your only character? Yes.

11)--If so, do you play your other character when the buffer is running? No

12)--How are your lots used? I have a house

13)--How often do you physically play your buffbot? Depends on how busy the city is.

14)--If you do, about how long each day? probablly about 4 hours

15)--Any comments, good or bad, that you receive while running your servicing macro? nope.

16)--If unattended entertaining were disabled, would you keep your account? Yes

17)--If so, would you still be an entertainer? Yes

18)--Any additional comments? Bots are unfortunately necessary for healing purposes in many remote locations, but if they were disabled, I'm sure the players could cope. The AFK performers are definitely not good for the profession. I suggest disabling experience for AFK play entirely. The only reason I run AFK is as a service to players who would otherwise have trouble getting their mind wounds healed.

1. Needed some cash but I have almost no combat skills to do missions. So this was the easiest way. Plus the due to thelack of people doing musician buffs I wanted to fill the need.

2. I pay for and run the account by myself as it is my only account.

3. RIght now master musician,master artisan,some brawler.

4.

5.Coronet cantina. Took me over a week to do master entertainer then master musician.

6.When doing non afk buffs I do the 1 min buff (30 second buff with more time just to be sure) When afk I have used a 5 minute session. But I havent gotten a response on how long the buffs are.

7. So far today in over 6 hours I've only made about 40k in credits. I am looking into getting scout so i can build a camp near POI's and do this.

8. First day doing it. I have been on yavin all day

9. I log on usually when I get a chance after work. And Log off before server reset.

10. See #2

11.

12. I have my house and thats it for now but I do have 6 fusions 2 deep and 2 heavy if i ever feel the need to use them.

13.I play my buffbot every day as a normal character and will probably only rarely use the buffbot unless its while I sleep

14. I usually play about 2 hours a day on average some times alot more some times not at all.

15. So far I've had no bad comments whether Im afk or ATK

16. Yes

17.Yes

1)--What motivated you to buff and serviceunattended?

  • As a protest to the devs totally caving on the AFK issue. Since they think AFK-macroing is OK, I intend to suck up every last byte of server capacity I can

2)--Did you buy and maintain the account by yourself, or in conjunction with friends?

  • She is my first and primary account

3)--What skills do you have and what enhancements do you have?

  • Master Dancer, Master ID, and the rest in merchant. I havea bone armor crest with a +25 mind enhancement skill tape. It's also bio-enhanced for +25 mind/BF healing.

4)--How were your enhancements acquired?

  • I paid 6 mil for the tape (I know...I've done the math and there's no way tips will ever pay for it.) I paid the standard retail price from my usual tailor for the bio-enhanced bone armor crest

5)--Where did you level and how long did it take to level?

  • I made it to Dancer 0-2-1-0 way back in August, then stopped pursuing dancer for a while (but never surrendered the skills). In January I picked it up again. My player city had it's own cantina by that time, so I leveled there.

6)--Any special techniques you use (30 second buff, 10 minute buff, 3.10 minute buff)?

  • I have used the 30 second buff twice for close friends.

7)--How many credits do you make on average in a day?

  • I've never counted on dancing or ID for my regular income, which for me is the key to enjoying the dancing profession. If I had to worry about being tipped fairly or treated with respect by the larger server population, I think this would have been a dismal profession for me.

8)--Where do you usually perform your services?

  • I am now the owner of the player city cantina referenced above (and in my sig). I'm also been elected guild leader for our guild of 90.

9)--When do you log on and when do you log off?

  • In my cantina

10)--Is this your only character?

  • No, I have a second character I use for harvesters (my income). Using up 5 lots for the cantina is a labor of love, but it's an expensive one.

11)--If so, do you play your other character when the buffer is running?

  • No, I don't have the ability to run two characters at once. And I wouldn't do so if I could. Faellyn is my primery character, and I love her dearly. She may stay online AFK through the night, but she is not a 'buff-bot!'

12)--How are your lots used?

  • 5 for the cantina. 2 for my house, 2 others for our city resource mall that I also manage, and one lot free for the occasional harvester.

13)--How often do you physically play your buffbot?

  • Daily. She gets more play time than my other character - who's more or less a mule. I try to have fun with the oher character, but I'd really just rather be playing my dancer. Plus, I'm the PA leader and deputy mayor of the second largest player city on the server, so I never can play Aeesta very long before someone needs me as Faellyn anyway

14)--If you do, about how long each day?

  • Still averaging 5-6 hours a day. But I'm not addicted. I can stop any time I want.

15)--Any comments, good or bad, that you receive while running your servicing macro?

  • I have to explain how we do things in my cantina. I started out being militant anti-AFK, like the previous cantina owner before me. Then some entertainers came to me with a proposal. They asked me to set up one of the side alcoves as the "AFK-alcove." Anyone is welcome to AFK to theie little heart's content as long as they don't spam, and reserve the stage for the active performers. We've gotten nothing but positive comments.I feel that it maintains the dignity of the profession, and still allows for some compromise. And yes, when I'm AFK, even the cantina owner steps offstage and moves over to the alcove.

16)--If unattended entertaining were disabled, would you keep your account?

17)--If so, would you still be an entertainer?

  • Absolutely! I'm a Dancer/ID because I love it.

18)--Any additional comments?

  • Off topic, so forgive me, Sirii, but I never did get around to repying to your other thread about the benefits of PA membership. I just wanted you to know that I would have left the game if not for the terrific friends I've made in my PA. I joined in late August as a Novice Dancer, and I've just recenly been elected the guild leader, so you can't say I'm not respected because I'm a Dancer/ID. We're a neutral crafter's guild (about 60% crafters, 10% entertainers, and 30% combat). Anyway, if you haven't been able to find friends and respect for your profession in a Bria guild, I feel sympathy for you.

19 Why do you bot?

As a way to cure battle fatigue and apply enhancements for free for my primary characters and my friends.

Vid, you're an ass. Why are you in our forum? You have no respect for the dancing profession. Please tell me what exactly you hope to contribute here, or what benefit to your game you hope to find here.

Actually, I don't do it yet but I'm strongly considering adding a third account or modifying the templates of my two existing accounts to give three stat mind buffs for the same reason I have a master doc, to buff my combat character and my friends.

I mean no insult to the dancer community but you should realize (as I'm sure that most of you do) that a very large percentage of the combat characters who make up your customer base are not particularly interested in roleplaying as customers of your entertainers. We want to heal and cure battle fatigue, then get a buff in as little time as possible and get back to what is, for us, the "real" parts of the game.

It seems that many dancers are bound and determined to make buffing/healing as interactive as possible, and to limit it to ATK dancers/musicians, which would mean that there are periods of time when the service is not available. This, in turn, causes guilds and wealthy individuals to set up afk bots who will be there no matter what to support us in combat/PVE. Human beings simply take the path of least resistance, particularly when there is no real/perceived benefit to the more tedious course.

I have to be honest when I say that to me, as with many many other players, it matters not at all whether or not the person healing/buffing my mind and blue substats is afk or atk. I just set up to watch/listen, glance at the clock to see what time it is, and tab over to my alt character or do some websurfing until it is done. Waiting for mind healing is an imposition to me that takes valuable time away from what I want to be doing.

I say this with all respect to the service that dancers provide and with full support for the way that you choose to play. But understand that many of us are going to head for the closest, fastest, most available healer we can find, to minimize downtime.

So I'll answer your questions as if I had gone ahead and made the dancer, which I will in the near future.

1)--What motivated you to buff and service unattended?

Immediate and fast access to mind heals/buffs, delivered as quickly as possible, with no need for interaction/roleplay.

2)--Did you buy and maintain the account by yourself, or in conjunction with friends?

Myself.

3)--What skills do you have and what enhancements do you have?

I will be master dancer/master musician with few enhancements, unless I happen to loot one. If the three stat mind buff is given to all entertainers I will drop one of the two and spend the points elsewhere.

4)--How were your enhancements acquired?

Looted, if at all.

5)--Where did you level and how long did it take to level?

Coronet/Theed, afk

6)--Any special techniques you use (30 second buff, 10 minute buff, 3.10 minute buff)?

Fastest buff possible.

7)--How many credits do you make on average in a day?

n/a

8)--Where do you usually perform your services?

As convenient to my main character and my guild.

9)--When do you log on and when do you log off?

Whenever my main is on. Will leave afk in guild city when I log out.

10)--Is this your only character?

no

11)--If so, do you play your other character when the buffer is running?

yes

12)--How are your lots used?

resource harvester

13)--How often do you physically play your buffbot?

only for buffs

14)--If you do, about how long each day?

15)--Any comments, good or bad, that you receive while running your servicing macro?

16)--If unattended entertaining were disabled, would you keep your account?

Yes, for atk buffs on myself and guildmates, but only as a last resort.

17)--If so, would you still be an entertainer?

no

18)--Any additional comments?

What the heck? She totally asked the wrong questions regarding buff bots. I was making it simple. Very simple. This game presents a NEED to have mind wounds and battle fatigue removed. This NEED is fixed by entertainers. Buffbots do the job.

These "survey" questions have absolutely nothing to do with this at all. "How many lots do you use?..."

Actually, I suspect she's trying to determine what other factors make paying for a second or third account desirable to most players. Is the ability to simply buff one stat worth $15 a month? Or is it a combination of the buff, the extra lots, an extra citizen for a player city, etc., etc.?

I'll reply to this one again. Hah. I was the 3rd master dancer on Lowca, ever. First and only male master dancer for a long, long time.

Tips were pathetic back then, and are still that way, even though I was damn good at what I did. I come looking to see if things are changing, because my dancer still exists, and still comes out every now and then to dance again.

I may be an ass, but these questions are not appropriate imho. I have great respect for the profession. I have zero respect for many on this board.

If you want to stop AFK gameplay in general.... ok fine go for it.
If you want to give dancers something that takes actual human interaction to achive... great idea.
If you want to BREAK dancer so that the current pathetic game mechanics require ATK playing... horrible idea.

Why are her questions inappropriate? It was a simple questionnaire with things that she wanted to know. Why does that make what she was asking wrong? It doesn't. However, nice job derailing the thread.

Most of us here have been dancers since the beginning of the game, and are very, VERY passionate about it. The fact is, AFKing is our #1 problem, and nothing is being done about it. Maybe because it's a difficult problem to fix... I can appreciate that. But don't waltz in here and troll our boards just because you disagree with some things we say. You can state yourdisagreement constructively, in an appropriate place, and will probably get a much better response than you have here.
