I could never find a music or dancer to buff me.

myself

master dancer master music master ent +3 to music and +3 to dance

bought

theed, naboo 8 days

only 10 minute buffs, 30 sec buffs are an exploit

depending on where I'm at 50k to 100k a day.

Yavin4 and Endor but now my player city ( I have enough money)

when I wake up, when I go to sleep

nope secondary

I'm almost always playing my main but sometimes play other games instead.

bases, houses, harversters, nothing.

I don't type on my main so this question is hard to answer cause our guild uses voice programs. If you mean when my main is not running and I have no other games running and I'm like watching tv while dancing maybe saying hey or something then about an hour a day.

when I stopped buffing on yavin and endor I got a bunch of tells and e-mails asking when I would be back. Never had anyone complain about my service. And the tips say that no one minds.

I would find and new way to afk it, if I can't then I would make her a doctor.

yea the planets with hard stuff to fight never have anyone buffingmusic, dancer, or doctor on them. And ent buffs should last 3 hours.

1)--What motivated you to buff and serviceunattended?

To help my guildmates and my PvP friends who have a hard time finding buffs

2)--Did you buy and maintain the account by yourself, or in conjunction with friends?

Myself

3)--What skills do you have and what enhancements do you have?

Looking for some mind enhancement + clothes but for now a +25 Fatigue Healing dress

4)--How were your enhancements acquired?

Gift from a guildie

5)--Where did you level and how long did it take to level?

First time I leveled was between Mos Espa, Bestine, Theed and Coronet

This time around exclusively in Anchorhead and my home city (mostly afk while leveling)

6)--Any special techniques you use (30 second buff, 10 minute buff, 3.10 minute buff)?

I always made folks wait a minimum of 8 minutes - I do not like to buff all day long so only those who know me generally get the pleasure and they are happy to talk to me during the time

7)--How many credits do you make on average in a day?

When Dancer was my fulltime gig, I did good to make 10k -- and that was only because (like i said before) I talk a lot. If I was buffing it was a little more.

8)--Where do you usually perform your services?

Anchorhead or my home city cantina (and no i didn't place it)

9)--When do you log on and when do you log off?

I log my dancer in first thing in the morning (usually about 6am) and leave her on till server down - barring any major lag issues

10)--Is this your only character?

My main used to be a Dancer but gave it up to be a Doctor and have combat skills.

I got my second account to be a crafter but I missed dancing so much that she is becoming a Master Dancer first - she will be done hopefully by the weekend *crosses fingers*

11)--If so, do you play your other character when the buffer is running?

Yes I play my main character at the same time but I flip back and forth a lot.

12)--How are your lots used?

My lots are almost exclusively harvestors or factories. I would give up the necessary lots for a cantina if it was needed by my guild.

13)--How often do you physically play your buffbot?

As I said, when at home I flip screens often in order to check out the happenings in the cantina. I love being a dancer so if i am in a crowded cantina, I will generally play my dancer and socialize.

14)--If you do, about how long each day?

Generally I am ATK for 4-5 hours/day during the week and a lot more on the weekends (yes i have no life atm so this is all i do )

15)--Any comments, good or bad, that you receive while running your servicing macro?

My macro is completely SPAM-free so generally people just leave me alone. When I was a master on my main, my guildies loved the fact they didn't have to travel to a main city just to get their BF healed or get a mind buff.

16)--If unattended entertaining were disabled, would you keep your account?

Yes. She would just do more crafting and only dance on request but she would still be a dancer

17)--If so, would you still be an entertainer?

See #16

18)--Any additional comments?

AFK dancers, while at times annoying, should not be completely done away with. With the many different times people are on the servers, sometimes afk'rs are all you have to get healed. HOWEVER, they could do away with the annoying Heal me/Tip me SPAM messages and make all our lives a little better.

Just my two cents. Yes it is true, I have only been playing the game since the end of February but let me tell you -- I have spent many, many hours working my way up. I started as a dancer because a) it was easy to do {as in I didn't have to die to level} and b) it was a great way to learn more about the game - a lot of the vetern players are more than happy to help those who aren't begging. My first time leveling I did not do a lot of afk dancing and I had a great time. That is howI met many of the friends I have now --- I do agree, once this hologrinding business is done, maybe the cantinas can go back to being a little more fun.

There's sometimes more to it than that. I think we'll just have to agree to disagree here. I simply don't understand how you can call someone wrong for wanting to gather information.

Perhaps she could rename the thread, "Survey about buff bots." Then, perhaps you would feel justified answering all of the questions.

1. i only do this when i'm, say, watching a movie and next to the keyboard but don't want to be hassled with a zillion /tells - but there is a desperate need in the area for buffing musicians. if there are many novices, but no masters, in a given cantina - and i want to watch some south park or a movie - i fire up the AFK buffbot macro and check it every so often. I make notes of folks who do not tip. i make notes of snide remarks made about free buffs, and people who get all their friends to group up and get free buffs. they are denied service the next time around. i am providing a service, not a hand out.

2. by myself

3. master artisan/master musician/aspiring droid engineer - enhancements? none, i can buff 100% and that's it, if you're asking that.

4. N/A

5. Theed Cantina, Naboo on Starsider server - took about 2 1/2 weeks, mostly ATK and running a couple macros for easier interaction with people.

6. 3.10 minute buff, since the "exploit" fix.

7. anywhere from 40k to 200k depending on foot traffic and location

8. that's proprietary information Theed sometimes.

9. logon after 5pm, logoff around midnight.

10. no, i have 2 total chars, my other is a TKA/Doctor

11. yes, my TKA/Doctor gets music buffs from my Musician/Artisan/Droid Engineer

12. for houses and harvesters, how else. heh.

13. when i run my buffbot, i'm usually right there to keep an eye on it. i don't often run it while far away from the keyboard.

14. it varies greatly on my desire to deal with /tell hell and rude customers (they come in droves)

15. i've never had anything but positive feedback (from buffees). any other entertainers who are annoyed suffer in silence. i would have no problem with an email saying how someone disagreed with my gameplay, and with an invitation to discuss the issue. i would prefer a mature response to a problem someone has, rather than trying to sabotage my buffbot.

16. yes, i would keep my account. it's a lot of fun playing a musician. i prefer to use the given system for my own purposes. i don't tell others how to play, so they shouldn't tell me how to play. i pay the same amount they do per month.

17. see #16

18. Entertainers needs to relax just a tad on this AFK thing - believe it or not, people do appreciate service vs. a buffbot. i try my best not to spam the cantina horribly with my buffbot when i use it, and i just hope others are as considerate. Also, if you're going to buffbot, please ensure your comments are spelled correctly. nothing worse than seeing periodic spam with horrible spelling and grammar. just a pet peeve.

Thanks for reading my thoughts on this.

as a sidenote, if I'm doing the buffbot, and a live Master Musician comes into the cantina and starts buffing, I try to run my buff bot with only the AFK message reply with instructions for getting a buff, instead of spamming Spatial with buffbot messages. This helps with /tells from people around the area who are looking for buffs, but keeps me from pulling away business from someone who is actually socializing. This is a personal choice, maybe i'm just a very considerate person. I encourage everyone to follow this policy, but to each his/her own i suppose.

If i were to ever sense hostility regarding the fact that I'm doing the buffbot, i'd take my MM tag off as well as not spamming Spatial, and just leave my AFK message on. If they keep complaining then there's no pleasing everyone.

I desperately await the day we get Auto-reply to /tells - I'm embarrassed as a MM to put on my AFK tag, but it's a necessary evil sometimes. How hard would it be to add that feature? it's just like AFK but with no stupid big ol' AFK hanging over your head. LOTS of professions need this functionality - when you get elite, the /tells can get overwhelming and impossible to keep track of, even when all you want to say is "email me your questions/orders" - so you go AFK.

ok not gonna go through all the list but, i have 2 accounts, one is master artisan/tailor/musician, other is master smuggler/tka/pistoleer. i regulary play both depending on what i want to do at the time, some days i feel like just sitting around in our citys cantina, (its always packed, we have over a hundred members) and chat, play music, and make cloths for the guild and other times i feel like fighting, some times ill leave my musician playing in the cantina and someone who is leader and is there will invite members into the group to get the group buff, i run no special advertised buff bot macro or anything, i just play a normal macro so if they want the buff they sit there for 10 min and chat and socialize with others in the guild while getting the buff. I never leave my musician on afk buffing anywhere but in our citys cantina and that is usually only when im out fighting with my other one or busy doing stuff around the house. for myself also i never charge for buffs, most of my guild would rather come to hang out in our cantina then deal with all the afkers in coronet anyways. I could care less about the credits you can make, if i need something my guild will help me out and i help them out with free buffs and clothing. If i need to make credits ill use my fighter and run missions.

i have 2 accounts, paid for myself. the bot i played atk most of the time till i had my lvls. i dont play on her much except to slice containers with the novice smuggler skills. i make about 3k per day charging 1k entry to my house in a player city. i got it because i couldnt ever find atk peeps to give me mind buffs. if they took the bot ability out of the game i would still keep it to buff me and my friends as needed but i think it would be doing a dis service to the community at large who now have the option if they are luckyand haveone that theyknow about to get buffed when they want to. im on about 18hrs a day.

Save your anger, Accain. You know where I stand on this issue. However, nobody is going to truthfully respond if there are critiques of their methods and reasons. We need to understand why players do these things in order to think of better solutions.
