if your afk dont ask for a tip macros are easy to use just type in something in cntrl a then add it to hotkeys and press it every ten minutes.it annoys me to see people that do this. if you wanna just sit there and play while afk good for you but dont expect to be making any cash cause no ones to tip you even if you just healed their 500 battle fatigue.

if you heal someone's bf while afk, you still provided the service...so it is only logical to ask for tips.

I disagree. If you are there, providing an interactive service, only then are tips earned. If a player wishes to tip an AFK entertainer, consider it an act of generousity. Asking for tips, espeically while AFK furthers the already tainted repuation of the entertaining professions. The rest of us suffer for these peoples actions. Same as those who abuse /denyservice to get tips. Sad

I don't particularly have a problem with 7/24 AFK entertainers. But I don't really make sense to tip them even if they provide a service.

After all, I don't tip the bank, bazaar or mission terminals for providing their service. And I basically consider an 7/24 AFK entertainer is basically a terminal.

I dont really think we can say wether it is good or not to tip AFKers, because the situation could be diffrent in diffrent situations. Someone places their dancer at a remote cantina on Dathomir, I'll probably tip them out of gratitude. But in Theed, I would only tip the ones that are there. This is a personal preferance though.

As far as sappming for tips, AFK or not, I think its bad form. It clutters the chat box for everyone. I would never tip anyone who asked for them. It is a tip after all.

Ok...heres the deal: and AFK dancer is there for the xp and not the neccisarlly (sorry about the spelling) the tips. However if they have a macro that asks for tips, more power to them. The reason i say this is: and afk dancer/muscian is not always afk. they may just be flagged for their own reasons.

as for the use of the "blacklist" that is what it is for...if you want to get tips for dancing, and the only way you can get thoseis by saying "No dancing for you" then that is what the system was designed for.

What AFK macroers do not realize is that they are a burden on those of us who play the game.

Am I being rude for kicking an AFKer from my group because I want to play a higher song? Should I /startband something he/she knows then kick them, just in case they don't have a /startmusic in their macro? Is that supporting AFK? Those are just a few questions I ask myself daily.

Then there is the case of Healing XP. I don't understand why, but people will listen to the AFKs before listening to those of us who are obviously present. It's not as big of a deal if the AFKer is in the group, but that causes other inconveniences as listed above. This drives entertainers out of the cantinas, so that when we do go to the cantinas, there is no one there to invite us to a group, and no one to chat or RP with, yet plenty of entertainers.

Sort of OT, but something funny about an AFK macroer on my server. He popped in when he was ready for Master Entertainer and asked if anyone could make a mandoviol. I said that I would because I had the stuff, and he said "Thanks, I'm not an Artisan," but he is a master musician. A master musician who was a noob when I was a Mesmerizer.

LOL!

That sounds like the AFK Macroer on my server who justified herself by saying that high levels take so long because "you only get like 7 xp per flourish". She'd gotten all the way to like box 3 of dancer knowledge (and the others as well) and had no idea she'd get more experience by doing the higher dances!

Much to my disappointment, someone else in the band told her, so she started doing poplock 2 or something and earning xp much faster. But that is just too funny.

"Master" entertainer. Uh-HUH.

It was a long time coming, but i'm now a master musician and recently when I've been going out I have been afk macroing. I dont need exp, and I certainly dont need the money. I do it to help people. I either join a group, and they are full aware and welcome me. Master Musician in the group usually means more exp. Or I'll go fly to endor or another high level planet and play in one of those cantinas.

So am I a bad person for doing this?

(out of character)

You have good intentions. However, you should consider one important thing: The rules of supply and demand. People playing entertainers are there to play a character that provides a service. However, if suddenly robots provide that service with no time invested by the player, then how shall players compete with that? AFK macro entertainers make the healing skills of a normal entertainer very very cheap and in the end pretty worthless.

I don't know what job you have in RL. But how would you like it if suddenly somebody would build robots that do your job for free? Sure, you would look for another job that is more needed. Exactly that is what many real entertainers will do if there are too many robots in the cantina: they will quit and learn something else.

So... if you want to help abolish the entertainer classes as player professions and replace them with something like a terminal, run your AFK script 24/7. If, however, you like the idea of people playing entertainers in a cantina, then simply don't do it. Even if you run your macro in a remote cantina you cut into their profession. If every remote cantina has a robot less people will travel to the big cities to visit the main cantinas and soon every cantina will look like a hotel with an AFK robot :-(

It is really true, that every time your robot makes a hunter/killer character happy, it indirectly hurts another entertainer, the one who would otherwise have healed the wounded character :-(

Some of these AFKers are making 30K a night by performing in remote locations where they are usually the sole entertainer. Until that changes, you are wasting your breath trying to reason with them.

i take a look at my tips when i wake up the next morning... that determines if i afk in the same cantina... i do it in remote places where there would be no other entertainer otherwise. Right now ive found a lovely home on endor where i come back to enough to pay my roundtrip ticket there and get a new outfit every nite i stand there and play all nite.

Tickets to advanced planets are not cheap, especially on an entertainers budget. Yes i could sit there at the keyboard all evening and go throuhg 2-3 hours without any customers.. but that one customer who comes in in desperate need of some healing, im there for. If they like me being there i get tipped. If they dont like me being htere, well then they dont have to watch and can go to theed or some other place and get healed by live entertainment with the 4k rountrip cost and 30min of time to get shuttle there and back and get healed.

I get mails thanking me for being there, saving them cash and time for having to travel to another planet. No, afk macroers in large cantinas who are there solely for the great xp they get, tipping them isnt worth it.. But if you come to a desolate cantina with one entertainer macroing her heart out for you, slip them a few hundred credits, they will appreciate it in the morning and prolly return the next nite to provide you with the service.

I was trying for Master Entertainer. However, will all the afk robots I've decided that it's no longer fun nor interesting. So, I've given it up and only enter cantina's and taverns when I need to heal myself.

At this point I seriously think the developers should discontinue the whole entertainment line and most of the medic line and just put automated "healers" in the game. An NPC band for the cantina's (which is basically what we have now) and a medical droid for the medical centers.

I wish you people would pay me $15 a month so you could do nothing.
