"This game has a problem, which was this: most of the people have mind wounds and battle fatigue for pretty much of the time. Many solutions were suggested for this problem, but most of these were largely concerned with the entertainers gathering around a door, which is odd because onthe whole it wasn't the door that needed the entertainment."
Alright, so it was a horrible mutation of a Douglas Adams quote.... However, I was playing in Theed, and changing camera angle.. And all of a sudden it struck me how odd and, in some ways, silly it looked that we were all gathered around the door in a half circle.
I'm guilty of it too. Even after thinking about that, today when I went to play, I found myself getting right back into the circle.
I'm trying not to though. From now on, when I remember, I'm going to find somewhere that makes more sense for the sort of entertainment I'm doing at the time.
Kind of curious what people's thoughts on this are. Do you do it? Is it intentional, or just habit?

I Dance for the Bartender or one of the NPCs off to the side usually if I am alone now.

I kinda sit in the middle of the cantina myself. That way I can see who all comes in and be able to give attention to them.

No, the internal one. Entertainers gather around the stairs leading into the main room all facing towards it. It's kind of creepy.. Like when you go to a city with all the skill trainers in one spot, and as you approach they all turn towards you.
In Theed I play music in the corner with no tables now, facing out from the corner.

mah i don't think is that bad, probably it depends by how you are used to stay and if ther's an entertainer community... for example when i played on kaadara we had a nice community and there where always just a group running so we where quite organized, musicians used to form a line to theright (where there are no table) while dancers generally keept the center of cantina.

Maybe it'll be better when everyone is around to suggest a better arrangement to.

I have to admit i HATE door huggers.....
I always play inside the actual bar area... thats what i'm payed to do.......
(I would also love to have a bit more organisation at times with the musicians/dancers rather than just all over the place but that's just me

Hehe it is kinda creepy. But I think it's better than having the foyer (near the external door) all clogged up with AFK spamming idiots.
I usually dance off to the left or right side, in the front corner. Sometimes I dance at the top of the stairs, in the little "arch" cut into the wall. (This is in Theed, btw.) It's kind of my own little personal "stage" area, and from there I can see everything happening on the main floor too.
I mostly just try to stand apart from the large cluster of people, making it easier for my buff customers to find me.

Yeah, I find that kind of weird, too. I like to plant myself right up next to one of those white round tables (with 4 chairs circling them) and play my chid horn. That way, folks who need healing can come up and have a seat, and listen. It's much more of a cantina thing to do, having a musician playing and folks sitting in chairs by them to listen.
This kind of brings up back to the fact that cantinas have no "stage" to speak of. To some folks, the "stage" seems to be in front of the bar, facing the doorway.
I'm also a big fan of playing away in one of those side rooms - something about them is just a little neat, reminds me of the area Han, Chewie, Ben, and Luke talked about gettinga ride on the Millenium Falcon. Like a little corner of the cantina. My guildmates last night were hanging out in a Naboo cantina in one of the side rooms, and I played for them in there. There was something very neat about having all those seats filled in a side room, and being the only folks in the cantina.

Well for some public cantinas there is already a band on stage we ahve to compete with (Mos Eisley) and it has become a habit to be near the entrance to the cantina when playing becasue that is the second largest open area.
There is no incentive for entertainers to be anywhere else. heck, some jsut plant themselves near the outside door.

I go to the theater and I stand there afk till I see someone walk in, then I pour it on.
YES! People go to hotels and theaters!
You just need some patience.
I am a Master Merchant and I have it advertise my performance location, whether I am on Endor or Coronets Theater.
The problem is there are no leaders and if there is, no one will follow them.
I propose people start going to hotels and theaters.
But it wont work unless you stick together!
Cantinas are for grinding.
Once you acheive your goal, move up to the real stages.
When the afk herd thins, people will need a new direction, I say, it's the theater.

Ooh, this is indeed creepy. Experienced it differently after having read this thread. I took a step into the cantina, and stood at the stairs at the semi-circle closing in on me, gyrating and shoving horns in my face.
Then I went to play my music by a table. Think I'll start avoiding the semi-circle from now on
. I hadn't placed myself in such a way intentionally, but I always like to place myself near another entertainer (usually the one I'm chatting with at the time), and that just adds me to the circle.
