Nothing surprising there. One more step to elminating all need for an entertainer. They don't want our money.

I'm a huge fan of loot. I mean a huge fan. Ask Ubi, she's seen my ninjoring in action elsewhere.
This means that I don't like to ask for other people's loot to be "nerfed", but I saw us going down this road. The very fact that our services are considered a pain to get is what makes items that do our jobs "phat loot." Cool for everyone else I guess, but not so fun for us. It's not really fun being resented. It's sure as goodness not fun having something be cool because it means people don't have to see us. This is my opinion. This is what I tried to get across in the Corr Forum. It was not received well.

I'm not going to complain about this for this reason: it probably won't be affective. Usually, if you have mind wounds, you're going to have BF. Seeing as BF takes longer to heal than mind wounds, they will either heal their BF first, which takes down their mind wounds, or have reduced heals due to the BF. Also, if this is like any other wound "packs", it'll probably only heal one of the mind stats, whereas entertainers heal all.
Anyway, I can always hope that the devs made a typo and it's to heal mind damage, not wounds, seeing as it's being added to stim packs.
EDIT: links to the same thread on the Entertainer and Dancer forums:

Sorry, can't clicky yet

Heheh one of my favorite sections of that article is this:
"The loot dropped by NPC's is currently a sore spot for most players. Ninety-nine out of a hundred NPC's don't drop anything, and when they do it's almost never useful. In addition to removing the useless loot items, the percentage chance that an NPC will be carrying something, anything, should be markedly increased. This will be immediately noticeable by all players and is a good thing. There's nothing better than rewarding a player for killing an enemy NPC...because everyone loves phat lewt
"
I have an Entertainer Character who has no fighting skills whatsoever and has never fought or killed anything. There are also crafters in exactly the same place. It seems to me that this is not going to be immediately noticable by all players and is only a good thing if you're running around mindlessly beating on or shooting at things.

Beyond that, the idea that some of our capabilities will be taken away by a loot item is totally screwed up. In the name of equality and balance, how about they add a lootable instrument, and piece of clothing (or lootable partfor those)that allows us to heal Health and Action wounds while playing music or dancing? I imagine the reply would be something along the lines of: That wouldn't be fair to the Medics and Doctors.
Well guess what. Giving the Medics and Doctors the ability to heal Mind wounds is unfair as well.
Edit: removed rudereference to Developer incompetence

I love loot as well. Coming off of EQ, I remember the times I would quest or raid for an chance at something that really enhanced my character (either a super piece of loot with stats or a weapon with stats).
Its says (in the synopsis on the clicky) that they don't want "crafters to be impacted negatively". Why on earth do they want to impact entertainers then negatively? I know they state that it would be limited use yes? Well weapons degrade awfully fast in this realm, so why not go the weapon route as loot also? I don't know...it just doesn't make sense to me.
Panthu, I know you worked your bootay off trying to get our voices heard. I don't know how it works really, but if the other correspondents (or anyone else involved that plays the game extensively and has a vote on this) can't see how this would negatively impact a profession that already is constantly being beaten into a pulp...well, thats a really sad thing.
Yes I know loot is supposed to be rare. Anything though at this point that reaffirms the need to sidestep an entertainer's role in the galaxy just highlights that we shouldn't be "needed". We have so much already thats being limited or taken away in regards to content just by the way the system is set up now.
I guess what I am trying to understand is why are we "resented"? I really don't understand that. I know when I am on Tryna fighting, I don't hate anyone just because I have trouble finding their services when I need them.
I am sorry, it just seems like the last few weeks have been just one blow after another to our professions. *tired sigh*

I hate loot. Why? Because it takes professions out of the game. When was the last time a crafter was really respected? How can they be when blessings from "the loot god" have features that go beyond what they are capable of? Loot too has always affected our profession especially, especially in terms of buffing percentages. I am so sick and tired of seeing that darn exotic leo on every two bit buffbot I see . But what real incentive is therenot towear it? In fact, what incentive is there to be a male dancer, when you discover that being female gets you access to loot to buff 5% better? And don't even get me started on SEAs. It makes the cantinas resemble a second hand store and an expedition party with all the hodge-podge of clothing items necessary to get it to the mythical +25%. But do we want that? Or does our audience? And if it is our audience, will they tip us more just for having them?
So yes. I hate loot. The more the simulation revolves around the aquisition of objects with mythic properties, the less it starts to resemble life, and the more it starts to resemble a silly farce...and a bad one at that.

I do not hate loot. I like it... but it should be designed in a way that keeps profession roles viable. One way of doing this is to require certain professions to 'activate' the loot. There are better ways to describe this, but I think it suffices for the example.
One example is space loot in JTL. Players can use this by themselves, but it can be enhanced by SWs.
