Thread: It's time for a question again..

It is time, yet again, to decide a question to pose to the devs. A few tips here - try and make it something specific, and try to avoid multi-part questions. Give the question one topic to focus on so the answer isn't about something you're not as interested in hearing.

Previous questions and answers:

Wednsday, April 22nd Entertainer: We have heard that there is new music and dances in the works. Is it possible to get an ETA on when we will expect this? Are there any other non-specific details you can give us, such as how many new music and dances are coming, or whether they will go to the entertainer or the elite skill trees?

You can expect this in the Adventure Zone mini-publish for 9. (Ed. note: Rescheduled for publish 10, then later post JTL) The first set of new dances/music will probably be for the elite classes only.

Wednsday, May 26th Entertainer: Presently the only class that has very much incentive to get master entertainer is musicians. Master entertainer is very popular among musicians, in fact. Those musicians who aren't master entertainers stare longingly at the mandoviol and ceremonial. Dancers get a reward that does not mean anything to most people. Image designers don't get any help at all from master entertainer. Has there been any consideration of new abilities in master entertainer that provides some worthwhile benefit to dancers and image designer as well as musicians?

Not at this time, but as I said, we do want to enhance many of the master professions boxes in time.

Thursday, June 10th Entertainer: I wouldn't mind some info on this secret Acrobat/Juggler profession. Is it going to be a Elite entertainer profession or a new novice profession? Is it even coming? Is it going to need Master Entertainer?

The Acrobat/Juggler profession is currently on the shelf and not in the pipeline. As it has been discussed internally, it would be an Elite Profession though some part of it would most likely touch the entertainer tree. Not much else about the design of the profession has been discussed because it was shelved a long ago.

Since the big, sweeping, important questions haven't been getting us anywhere lately, maybe it's time fora small, simple one.

"Can we pleasehave slightly improved payouts for missions from entertainer terminals? Just have someone change the payout range from 100-200 credits to, say, 200-500 credits? Just that for now? We'll worry laterabout missions scaling with entertainer skill and group size, and having more interactive types of terminal missions... for now, could we just up the pay scale a bit?"

I don't think that starting entertainers would break the economy by getting just a bit more from these terminal missions. It seems like something so incredibly simple to adjust, and if we saw even this one, small change, it would go a long way towards showing that someone up thereis listening. I know... it wouldn't fix our problems. But I'll take something now over nothing... anything.

This isn't asking for new artwork, or music, or systems changes. This isn't asking even for real development time. Just one change to a variable range... possibly in one line of code. It just seems to me to be the sort of thing we could see next week in a hotfix, and right now, even this would help restore a bit of the faith.

Well, in the spirit of asking a question that might actually be answered...

I say we ask him..."Pepsi or Coke?"

I agree with Xyrdre... and if we don't ask that... I agree with Javier.

"Except the answer might be "Mountain Dew" . . . . . . ."

As long as the answer isn't "no" or "we'll look at it after JTL", it's an improvement.

There has been alot of debate on the Tempest forums about "Buff-Bots" lately. I thinkIwould like to ask:

"What do the devsthink about AFK entertaining(healing and buffing) and might we be able to get a User Interface thatwould improve the entertainer buff application process and disable the ability to buff AFK."

Well, we know what they think about it. They don't like it, they didn't intend it, and they'd like for it to go away. They've said this in "State of the Game" letters, in the forums, and at the FanFest. The question isn't what they think about it, it's what are they doing to do about it. And right now, the answer is "nothing." At least not for a long time (think post-JTL).

Well, they are removing the hologrind, and some of them really believe that's going to fix the problem. I think they think of the AFK entertaining problem as the crowded, spam-filled zombie fests known as the Coronet and Theed cantinas. Perhaps they aren't as aware of the buffbot issue, as this is a relatively recent phenomenon. So if you did ask a question about it, I'd focus on the buffbot issue specifically.

For me, it's hard to think of something that's not Musician specific, though I think that's understandable. My primary focus as an Entertainer is not the same as most other Entertainers. I like non-conventional healing. What I'd like to know is if the development team would consider spreading at least a little of the Fatigue healing points down into Entertainment, so that it's easier to heal that at all levels of performing.

I'd also like to know if they'd consider changing T'ssolok to a Fatigue Healing booster for performers, and make the plain Myoflex tissue add to Fatigue Healing (Music) and (Dance) instead of being a lesser form of the Enhanced Myoflex. But I don't know if those requests should more properly come from Chefs and Bio-Engineers instead. Not that I think they care any more than the developers about what performers could really use to enhance what little they can quantitatively provide to the player base.

Well I can tell you right now what the answer would be if we asked about increasing mission payout. We'd get something about the new entertainer quests on TC.

Hmm... good point. Better to plan ahead for that. How about this as an amended wording:

"Can we pleasehave slightly improved payouts for missions from entertainer terminals? Just have someone change the payout range from 100-200 credits to, say, 200-500 credits? Just that for now? We'll worry laterabout missions scaling with entertainer skill and group size, and having more interactive types of terminal missions... for now, could we just up the pay scale a bit? Since the new entertainer quests coming with publish 9 cannot be repeated, they aren't really an ongoing source of income, but a one-time run."

Okay, it's late, late, late at night, and I know that the wording is getting clunky, but you get the idea here...

We should mention the fact that Entertainer Missions cost more to do than they reward.
