ok Now I've only even been ID from the Entertainer profession. So I can't claim to know what you think about it. I imagen p.i.s.s.e.d.....
As a noob toon on a new server And with little or no credits while I grind out low level skills I often do look for an AFKer to heal me up. I admight this. Uselly just someone who's Master mainly cuss I feel they benefit less from me then a lazy AFK grinder..
But anyway...
Lastnight I went in search of an inspire buff... and after checking the bank 500 credits.. AFKer was first choice... I saw one right in the doorway dacning there fool AFK head off.. There wasn't any high level AFKers around I was in a hurry. So I go watch her and popup "There is a 10 credit covercharge blah blah blah..."
My 11 year old son was playing recently and went for an inspiration buff at the MO. An AFK dancer had a 10k cover charge!
/boggle
I was looking over his shoulder saying "don't you DARE pay that amount, especially to someone not at the keyboard." Geeze.
Intrepid has an AFK'er with a 5k cover charge in the Dantooine Mining Outpost about 20 hours a day.
What's more aggravating is that she ALSO has a shop outside Coronet with millions of credits of gear for sale, including little tidbits like Bane's Heart.....
I also never have AFK macroed in my life.
You're right, the bots are stupid for putting a cover charge up. Guess what? Other people are just as stupid to go and pay them. The AFK bots would not exist if the fools in this game weren't so lazy as to use them.
You know Ben Kenobi had some advice for this situation, which I will modify: "Who is more foolish, the AFK bot player, or the combat player who watches her?"
As for new players... heheh. My dancer is a multi-millionaire. When I see a low level player and he tips me under 1,000 credits -- especially if it is an uneven number like 154 credits -- I know he can't afford it. My usual M.O. is to tip him about 10,000 credits right back.
Dejah has several VERY devoted fans in Mos Eisley as a result...
Your best bet as a low level alt is to find a live performer. They will be helpful and would almost never charge a newbie. I know I sure wouldn't. But then, I don't charge... I do accept tips from people who can afford them, but I don't 'charge'.

I have to admit that I do have a covercharge of 1 credit, but then I am afk in my guilds cantina.
The reason I do it is to see if anyone of the guild actually use my characters skills as I have been drumming it into them for ages how good the inspiration buff is and it's taking a while to sink in!!

I found it much more valuable to my guild to encourage them to go interact with people in cantinas as a means for meeting new potential recruits instead of just letting everyone retreat into an isolated player city compound cut off from the rest of the game.
1. You tip XXXX 3000 credits as a cover charge
2. You stop listening because you are too far away
Being as Dant Agro is such a small cantina i moved as close as i could to him and payed him again. SAME THING. so i think about flaming him and i notice hes AFK what a waste of 6k

Well see, now if you used a live entertainer, you could've mentioned the bug and most live performers would've tipped you your money back.

Alas the guild was (has subsequently folded/moved/split off) set on corellia and europe-chimaera and the entertainer count slowly decreased until it is now rare there is even one in the cantina in coronet.
The choice therefore for the guildee's was to use me as an afk, go to another planet and search for an entertainer or just not bother ... no surprises which option they always took.
Whilst i relied on AFK i have nothing but respect for those who continue to fight for the ent profession as it was meant to be, a social one.
Good luck
