The CU is now on TC5. This server is open to anyone that would normally be able to get onto TC.
Please post your general feedback here concerning all things in the CU pertaining to Entertainers.

No more mind wounds
28 skill points tied up into modifiers for healing mind wounds which don't exist
341000 EH xp required to train 8 skills to master dancer or musician, which does nothing.
Since the only EH xp left comes from BF that 341000 EH xp takes over twice as long to get (not counting the other 300k EH xp to get the fatigue healing line)
Group sizedecreased from 20 to 8
Small group no longer able to generate the same level of XP as the old large groups, down to less than half.
XP requirements are the same, but with smaller groups it can take up to over twice as long to level.
Status of entertainer buffs: completely unknown
Overall my reaction is just what I thought it would be. We're **edit**ed

I got on TC5 for a bit just to check it out. Nothing looks different as far as the Entertainer trees go and I never received BF during my battles with the noob creatures. So nothing in the CU looks good for entertainers right now, though that is just my opinion from my limited experience with the CU.

I did play this morning, I gained some healing XP off of someone that used up her new player deaths and was cloned a few times. I never could heal all of her battle fatigue because I could not play music or dance for more then 1 minute.
There was 4 of us in the cantina and no one could keep performing,
I would stop playing and it seemed the combat music would start. I also got a lot of messages "unable to do that at this time" when I attempted to start playing music.

Oh, and thank goodness we can still AFK macro all day.
Wouldn't want to regain any respect for our professions, would we.

Oh, this is cool, I was hoping somebody from the entertainer areas was testing the CU. I'm considering this weekend making me a dancer there...I'm considering a dancer alt for live, and I'd love to know how life would be with her post-CU, since most likely I won't build her 'til after the CU is live. Glad to know y'all are testing this, not just those of us who wanna kill stuff

Oh come on Warryyr with the reduced healing experience coming in you can't expect people to actually PLAY this profession now can you?

Lilo's observations about the Combat Updarebalavamp: (Already posted in the Music forums, but what the hey?)
That's right, it gets three smilies from my initial test run! Great job for something I had such low expectations from.
GENERAL APPEARANCE:
Nice packaging. I kind of liked the new icons for things, even if they did seem a bit too garish. Seriously though, if they're going to change half of them, they need to change the other half too, otherwise it's going to look like they just did a half-assed job of the Updarebalavamp.
Very laggy like beyond all belief laggy. It took 5 minutes for people, furniture, etc to load in the Bestine cantina. Took another 5 for my CDEF to unequip, another 5 for my slitherhorn to equip, another 5 after /startmusic for the music selection box to show up, and another5 minutes for me to start playing. That was not acceptable...but it may have been because there were so many people outside the starport. I'm just making the note that I haven't seen this horrible amount of lag for a LONG time.
Character animations so far as running, walking, combating, dancing, and playing music seem to be identical to what we have now...still keeping the dialed-down "snappy movement" though.
ENTERTAINER:
Looks like they basicly left Entertainer, ID, Dancer, and Musician alone. Our skilltrees look identical to me, which means, yes, we still have to pay skillpoints for now-useless lines of wound healing...unless they intend to let us heal health wounds. Perhaps they will, since they gave Docs the ability to mind buff. Seems only fair that we get some of their skills.
One cool thing, they've replaced some of our skill icons with colored pictures from the Star Wars universe. Those look cool, but not everything has a new icon, which makes everything look haphazard and well, generally bad, unfinished, ugly, it's hard to come up with a word to fit how horrible the combination of old and new icons looks.
Groups seem to be limited to 8 people.
Long-term AFK is still possible, I saw several folks with the AFK tag up while I was in the Bestine Cantina.
I think it's new, but it may not be. Mousing over the ID hairstyling skill boxes gave a list of the holoemotes granted at each level. The basic Entertainer boxes also mentioned which features an ID could change with each level of Entertainer.
FLAWS/TC-BURPS?
Unreasonablylaggy.
I created a Mon Cal and chose Entertainer as my profession. In the planet selection room, the icon by my stats said I was an Artisan.
Blue Frogs have BF/Wound healing powers, making it impossible to effectively test whether or not Entertainer healing still gives proper experience and allows one to level up in a reasonable amount of time.
The Command Browser did not resize properly.
The Macro tab of the Command Browser does not display existing macros properly. It shows the bottom half of the first line of the selectedmacro, and the top half of the second line of the macro. Nothing else.
The /bug command sometimes hangs Galaxies, forcing one to exit and reenter the program
The HUD displaying our new HAM hangs over the hotkeys partway and is not resizable. This means that in order to use a mouse to switch to a new toolbar pane, I had to move my HAM box down to be able to click on the arrows that change toolbar panes.

Try not to wander offtopic with new ideas/proposals here. Limit discussion to how things are going for entertainers in the CU test.
Aside- anyone try healing in a camp yet? That will HAVE to change, if it doesnt work now. Test it and /bug the tar out of it. or insist they change the text/descriptions of camps to cut us out.

The thought that just popped in my head was this...
BF reported is really hard to get on TC... perhaps this is intentional for the moment.
Think about this. If they reduce the BF accumulation rate temporarily on TC, more combat characters will actually spend time testing the combat skills this CURB is meant to balance out.
The big concern with Entertainer class people seems to be a lack of a role in the CURB.
All they have to do once the combat classes are more or less balance out is make the rate combat people get BF higher than it is in Live currently, and have Action and Mind pool regen rates modified by BF negatively (which really high BF SEVERELY impacting regen if not virtually stopping it) to force said combat players to go to the Cantina and get the BF healed up. Then just make BF healing an active process on the Entertainer's part.
This is how it could easily work:
- Combat character goes out and kills things, earns a lot of BF for his trouble.
- Combat character comes to the Cantina.
- Combat character then requests to have his BF healed, for which he must pay, and tips the Entertainer.
- The Entertainer then manually targets and perform a BF heal (similar to how setperform works for mind buffs now)
This allows Entertainers to continue to earn credits in a similar method to the mind buff system, discourages AFK Entertaining as a bonus, and makes the Entertainer classes more necessary than currently IMHO.
