Thread: My condolances on your recent loss

Um...you assume much. I'm not changing professions. I don't feel we've been gutted. I'm thoroughly enjoying ALL my entertainer toons. If anything, I'm happy more AFK bots are going away.
Since I originally became an entertainer because of the healing abilities I appreciate your offer of sympathy. I'm not ready to give up yet because I have enjoyed the profession. I remain hopeful that the "grand plan" will be something that gives me the same play experience but I'm hanging onto my token respec just in case.
So far I've not seen any decrease in the number of AFKers. It's still early though so time will tell but I sincerely doubt there will be any change in their numbers.

a lady after my own heart
entertainers, as all theo ther professions, is made for you to have fun with. if you like what you're doing, why quit? if you prefer a healer's role, doc might be a better choice now.

That's not quite right, Pappi. Doctors are now another form of combat medic -- all healing pretty much takes place in the field now (you cannot get xp for it, at least, outside of combat). So if you want to heal but you do not want to get into combat, what options do you have?
Answer: None.
You could say, "Well you don't HAVE to get XP," and that would be true, after one masters the prof of choice. But as you are gaining XP, which you will have to do to change profs from Healing Ent to Healing Doc, you would have to go into combat.
So what are the options now for people who want to non-combat heal? There are none.
As far as "It's made for you to have fun with" -- I heartily agree. And I did not become an entertainer solely to be a healer. I became one to be a healer AND to entertain. I liked the idea of the combo. The combo was fun to me. Now, how am I supposed to have fun with a combo that no longer exists in the game? That's rather hard to do.
"If you like what you're doing, why quit?" Well... I like what I am doing (entertaining) but it may well not be enough by itself, because I also like having patrons (so far since the new publish, I have had none in the cantinas I have tried to perform in) and I like healing them (which I cannot do anymore). So I am getting 1/3 as much fun as I normally would have (dancing, but not healing and no patrons). My fun has, therefore, been reduced.
I'm supposed to be happy about this? That's the point I don't get when people say things like "Just have fun." I had significantly more fun before. Why should I not be disturbed that things I found fun have been removed from the game?
What people really mean when they say "just have fun" is, "Since my fun has not been reduced, you should learn how to have fun the way I have fun, instead of the way you have fun." And that just isn't going to work, because fun is different for every person.
C
I get the feeling what we are seeing in these changes is a slow progression to a much more fun to play entertainer.

I don't expect everyone to have fun the way I do, however I also don't expect everyone to put all 250sp into entertainer. if someone doesn't want to stand around and wait for folks in a cantina, why not pick up another profession and join them outside? if you're not enjoying entertainer any more, then you should rethink why you liked it before, and act accordingly. the point is that profession has changed (to a lot of people's disapproval), and if it's not fun any more then either suggest ways to make it fun for you or consider trying another profession.
positive critizism is great (and your comments have been constructive), however I just don't know why people insist on sticking with a profession they don't like and all they do is complain about it. I also don't understand why folks want to *make* people watch us... I would much rather have a few people watch me and appreciate it than to have a bunch of folks who treat me like crap because I'm taking up their time to have fun out in the fields. the devs definitely need to give us more inspiration buff options, ones that are beneficial enough that folks would want to come watch/listen to us, but not so important that people feel forced into the cantina. they also need to create better entertainer missions O.o I've learned during my corrhood that changes to a profession that aren't bug fixes or nerfs will always have supporters as well as protesters. people play certain professions for different reasons, and it's hard to please everyone.
while I don't agree with doc being so combat-oriented, it's the closest you have to a healer... and that's for a different thread. I would love a healer prof that doesn't involve combat, but now that combat is pretty much the only reason you get hurt it's hard to justify to the devs why it would be a good thing

Thank you for your concern.![]()
I always enjoyed having you as patrons. A few--and sometimes many--were rather rude, but I had ways to deal with them.![]()
Always with carbosyrup.
A cheerful dancer can be ignored once. Maybe twice. But a dancer who greets at the door, tells jokes, and puts on the effort to make the cantina a good place to be can never, ever be ignored perpetually. You deserved more than getting your BF healed. You deserved a show. And it really never even mattered if you were not looking for a show. When you came into the cantina where Madame Ajaan was performing, you got one, at no extra charge.
I took it as my personal responsibility to give each and every one of you a show. Because you could have gone to any cantina to get your BF healed. And I wanted to make sure that those who chose mine--from the 50 cred novice to the 500k credit weapons mogul--that you got a show worthy of our Emperor himself.
And I'd like to take this moment to thank you, Noffo, and all of those brave soldiers out there who recognized my efforts to entertain you, and your friends. I owe all that I am to you, and your generous support.
So from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Thank you to all of those across all my servers who gave me the priveledge of healing your BF. It meant a lot to me, and I hope it meant the same to you all.![]()

Yes, we do agree on quite a few things. To me, it seems very simple. If you like it, choose to stay. If you don't, move on to something else. I've tried all kinds of professions. The way I look at it, I've got a subscription. I have no plans on leaving. So, why not try all kinds of things? I feel that you can't truly respect or know what a profession is going through, unless you take it up yourself. And then *play* it for a while. I'm re-doing MID for the FOURTH time on Sti-fi. I drop it easily, try something else. I never know if I'll find something I like better, unless I try. Well, Jedi. I have zero desire to be a Jedi so I don't bother trying that.
But yah. It's simply. Like it? Keep it. Don't? Don't keep it. YMMV.

You know Sti-Fi, I could have said this dozens upon dozens of times to good, fine dancers who could no longer find they could play all throughout the last two years. I did not get on my high horse and say they don't belong here, they have no reason to be here, and they do not have a right to be concerned.

I'm not saying that people don't belong here. I'm saying that *I* simply do not understand why people would stay with something they're not happy with. Everyone can do as they wish and everyone does have a right to their opinion. And mine is that I do not understand why people stay with something they do not enjoy.
That's all. It's just very simple to me. I play what I like and can't imagine paying to play something I don't.
