Why the Devs did this is beyond me. You guys all look so cool now with the new effects and stuff but if you think about it... theres really no point to them now lol..... all entertainers can do is give inspiration buffs. Entertainers are some of the best people in the game, they never whine and they have always been happy with their profession. I am truly sorry that the devs removed BF and I really hope that they give something else to you guys.

Would hate to see you all go.

I guess this is a good thread to put my words in.

I am 100% against the removal of BF. I have never been an entertainer, but for 2 years have enjoyed relaxing in one and meeting people in the cantina. Entertainers need to have a need in the game, which was BF. Buffs are optional, and is no way for a profession to survive. The only way I know to help is to stop by cantinas and reward those still there with credits and my attention. I wish nothing but the best of fortunes to all of you.

I agree. At first, every profession had something that players would need: Medicsfor healing Wounds, Artisans for crafting, Scouts for harvesting critters, Brawlers/Marksmen for combat, and Entertainers forMind/BF healing.

Now since the CU, Medics & Doctors basically were kicked out of their hospitals. Healing in a hospital away from combat? No, you must be in Combat to earn XP now!

Crafting much wanted Armor & Weapons became at least twice as difficult as before. Grind Artisan Grind, since you don't want to play in Combat, the devs have made the game more grind-boring for you....

Brawlers & Marksmen, you'd better get the best BE'd clothing and weapons you can get for your levels, AND a pet, if you want to solo against anything equal to your level (and even at that, prepare to be incapped a few times before you get one kill). Ah yes, wonderful CU - how to make players more frustrated in a combat-oriented game.

And dear Entertainers - um, since the Devs can't think of any way to force you into combat, we'll just take away any need for combat oriented players to watch you, and leave you with just a ability to grant inspiration for 10% more xp....

Don't worry Scouts, the devs will surely come up with a profession-killing nerf for you soon enough...

Scouts have the trapping bug and CH (a scout derivative) is bugged to hell and back since the CU. So they've been hosed already.

You left out one too: looted weapons kicking the ass of any artisan-made weapon in the game. My Katarn Knuckler is the best weapon I have seen yet for HTH, bar none... it has higher DPS than a sliced powerhammer (my char is also a master swordsman in addition to TKA). So what is the point now of slicers OR weaponsmiths? When I can just go do a quest, biolink, stick an ADK on the thing, and have the best DPS in the game (or thereabouts)?

I remember when they said no looted item would ever approach an artisan's crafted ability. Now look at the game.

Someone on another thread said this, and I will repeat it here... The new dev philosophy in the game is this:

Forced interaction with non-combat characters = BAD.

Forced interaction to get reasonable experience in combat = GOOD.

And this is where we are at now.

they're going down the wrong path for sure.. theyhave the best crafting system of any game (my opinion).. they're going to make crafting worthless. I have an armoursmith, master artisan, master weaponsmith, master merchant, novice tailor, and architect 4004 (2 chars). My main is my combat character.. finished template jedi.. As you can see.. I love crafting.. I even hang out in the cantina and dance w/ people at times w/ my 0020 entertainer dancer haha. They need to roll things back a couple notches when it comes to this area

Thanks for the kind words.

But yet again, another example to show the Devs just how their little "plan" for us has backfired horribly.

It was never my intention to become an Entertainer to get condolences for being one.

Like you said, the Devs had better give us something, and FAST. Because this is all just plain ridiculous to do to a good group of folks like us.

I think the Devs should add something knew like entertainers give extra health or defense so the prof isn't worthless!

I think BF was the only reason entertainers got tips, I see that rarely anyone tips for an Inspiration buff. I hope they get something to replace it.

I doubt anyone will like my idea but I thought of something that could bring entertainers to GREAT use.

The idea is that when people die and have to clone they loss 5% of all their experience, but they don't loss anymore than 0. The only way to recover it is to listen/watch entertainers.

Igot the idea fromDaoC used this but what they did was when you died and respawned you had to go back to where you died, there will be a gravestone with your name on it, and you have to pick it up to get your experience back.

Also, I have master entertainer and while I was looking what props their was I click on musicianship I,II,III,IV and their was no instruments listed. Whats wrong there?

Nothing. Instruments are now in the Entertainer Props line (the old Ent Healing line).

I have also noticed instruments are no longer classified as Misc->Instruments but as Misc->Entertainer Items (that confused the hell out of me the other day when I was trying to see if anyone else was still selling instruments on the bazzar on my server.

I support entertainers!!! Please SOE getting rid of BF took away depth of the game that SWGs had that no other game was able to match. I came back for this type of qualityafter trying two other games and playing three previous games. Please, don't forget the vision you had, a game for everyone, combatants and non combatants, a universe that you could live in, not just fight in. Please, from a player who does not have a current entertainer character, please, keep this aspect of the game alive.

I should clarify with an edit. Please keep the need for entertainers alive. You've taken away BF, but you didn't put anything in to replace it to givetheir profession, which takes skill points just as every other profession does, the same type of validity.

It might be just me but I'm a bit baffled.

I have read the different entertainer forums now and one thing repeats itself: The concern from non-entertainer players. I really like that we get the attantion from more than our own ranks but the posts surprises me.

More than once I have read that people mourns that we have lost the ability to heal BF as they liked the time away from battle and grinding. Well, I'm thinking, what keeps you from _taking_ the time to come in and say hi and enjoy and relax once in a while?

I don't mind much that we lost the BF healing (I know, I didn't become entertainer for the healing part) as I will still be joking, dancing, singing, IDing, adn entertainingto the best ofmy ability and that has nothing to do with BF.

Don't get me wrong. I think that contentwise, we should get more, more, MORE .. ahem, but as an ID, I still remember what the effects of the forced stat migration was like - not pretty. So the balance is a tough one between giving us something that makes the combat classes want to come in voluntarily (besides our entertaining skills) and giving us something that is so important that they cannot live (or fight) without it and begins to make demands /shudder

This was and is a horrible idea, removal of BF seems like an idea that someone threw out as an attempt at a joke and the rest of the folks took it and ran. I am very sorry for the entertainers and for the fact that their main source of usefulness was taken away. I still enjoy going to a cantina every once and while, but I don't make it around as often anymore. It was great meeting new people and all my tips were base on BF add two zeros to the amount of BF I had and that was what the tip would be. I want the entertainers to get some real helpand to be a real necessity in the game again.
