Entertainer Archive
Thread: Im sorry entertainers
I guess this is a good thread to put my words in.
I am 100% against the removal of BF. I have never been an entertainer, but for 2 years have enjoyed relaxing in one and meeting people in the cantina. Entertainers need to have a need in the game, which was BF. Buffs are optional, and is no way for a profession to survive. The only way I know to help is to stop by cantinas and reward those still there with credits and my attention. I wish nothing but the best of fortunes to all of you.
You left out one too: looted weapons kicking the ass of any artisan-made weapon in the game. My Katarn Knuckler is the best weapon I have seen yet for HTH, bar none... it has higher DPS than a sliced powerhammer (my char is also a master swordsman in addition to TKA). So what is the point now of slicers OR weaponsmiths? When I can just go do a quest, biolink, stick an ADK on the thing, and have the best DPS in the game (or thereabouts)?
I remember when they said no looted item would ever approach an artisan's crafted ability. Now look at the game.
Someone on another thread said this, and I will repeat it here... The new dev philosophy in the game is this:
Forced interaction with non-combat characters = BAD.
Forced interaction to get reasonable experience in combat = GOOD.
And this is where we are at now.
C
Thanks for the kind words.
But yet again, another example to show the Devs just how their little "plan" for us has backfired horribly.
It was never my intention to become an Entertainer to get condolences for being one.
Like you said, the Devs had better give us something, and FAST. Because this is all just plain ridiculous to do to a good group of folks like us.
I think BF was the only reason entertainers got tips, I see that rarely anyone tips for an Inspiration buff. I hope they get something to replace it.
I doubt anyone will like my idea but I thought of something that could bring entertainers to GREAT use.
The idea is that when people die and have to clone they loss 5% of all their experience, but they don't loss anymore than 0. The only way to recover it is to listen/watch entertainers.
Igot the idea fromDaoC used this but what they did was when you died and respawned you had to go back to where you died, there will be a gravestone with your name on it, and you have to pick it up to get your experience back.
Also, I have master entertainer and while I was looking what props their was I click on musicianship I,II,III,IV and their was no instruments listed. Whats wrong there?

It might be just me but I'm a bit baffled.
I have read the different entertainer forums now and one thing repeats itself: The concern from non-entertainer players. I really like that we get the attantion from more than our own ranks but the posts surprises me.
More than once I have read that people mourns that we have lost the ability to heal BF as they liked the time away from battle and grinding. Well, I'm thinking, what keeps you from _taking_ the time to come in and say hi and enjoy and relax once in a while?
I don't mind much that we lost the BF healing (I know, I didn't become entertainer for the healing part) as I will still be joking, dancing, singing, IDing, adn entertainingto the best ofmy ability and that has nothing to do with BF.
Don't get me wrong. I think that contentwise, we should get more, more, MORE .. ahem, but as an ID, I still remember what the effects of the forced stat migration was like - not pretty. So the balance is a tough one between giving us something that makes the combat classes want to come in voluntarily (besides our entertaining skills) and giving us something that is so important that they cannot live (or fight) without it and begins to make demands /shudder
