Thread: What's So Wrong?

I'm confused...
Is everyone just jumping on a bandwagon to be upset with the devs.
They got rid of bf, so there is no more healing bf via entertainment. Okay cool, I see how that is upsetting.
But, before you needed to have someone to watch you to get xp for the healing branch, for the prop use you don't need anyone to watch you. All the entertainers who are afk aren't in anyway at a loss. The entertainers, who are entertainers for the social aspect should be happy, now they have cool props.
I am an entertainer on an alt, and I really don't see what's so wrong. I keep seeing many threads about how people are feeling bad for the entertainers, but I don't fully understand. I have read the threads from start to finish. I really don't get what's so bad. If anything, this is good. The only thing I have mixed feelings about is removing bf since it was kind of a setback. Which made swg more difficult. Like a medic/dr couldn't heal as well if your bf was too high.
Oh well.. I'm not flaming anyone, so please be nice if you're going to respond to this. All I wanted to say, is I don't see what is so bad about removing bf.
Unless I miss my guess-- most people are miffed at the BF removal because it removed a reason why combat-oriented people would come to see us perform, to chat for a little bit, or to just rest while they healed.
Though that's exactly why buff-bots and AFK entertainers are a plague to the community, because they provided that same service without actually being there, which lessened the value of coming to see an entertainer.
But removing it altogether has removed whatever value that game element had left in it... and (musicians especially) nothing really to replace that dynamic between social entertainers and the combat-oriented players.
Without any reason for them to come see us, it makes many of the entertainers feel valueless, since they have nothing left of value to give back to the combat players.
Although sure, it's possible to provide value in other ways, joking around, singing songs, "private dances"
, and the rest. And I don't think that, deep down, the musicians and dancers don't find personal value with the new song/dances and props... but it's just not something that anyone outside of the entertainer world finds much value in.
The outcry to the devs is to give us a place! Give us some value in the world... something meaningful to other players. This is why the hope is that the profession-specific buffs will be something valuable to other players, and will once again give people a reason for coming to see us (a reason that isn't pity.
)
That's what the state of the entertainer seems to be all about... not that it was BF going away, just that it was our sole remaining reason to provide game-related value to non-entertainers. (And a 10% inspiration doesn't count. If that were 200%, then maybe people would find some value in it. <G>![]()

I have one question Epofa... are you a SWG Dev in disguise??
lol... no, I'm not a dev in disguise.. hehe...
I also liked the comment about 'private dances' from the post above this one. ![]()
... Yes, yes they are. They're caught up on lossing something thatdidn't really evenhelp them anymore, and are thankless for gaining insperation and props.

/agree.
An MMORPG should promote social interaction, many (including myslef) feel that we have lost the only interdependancy we had left. Props and dances are cool . . but without anyone to watch us . . . we are only entertaining ourselves and we might as well be playing a console game ![]()

Oh no. That's quite an old custom, dating back to the first day the game launched. Players have *always* been upset with the devs. Some for good reasons and some for really really stupid ones.
Being more supportive of the devs, in recent times, is actually a new fashion.

I don't know guys. Last night I was entertaining in the Corellia and Dantooine cantina. I would say I saw about the same number of people.
With my combat player too, I typically go see an entertainer when I die for an inspiration buff or when my buff is low. So it's not going to lower visits to the cantina.
I don' t know guys, last nights visits weren't different (at least I didn't notice) but I will see how it goes over the next few days. Weekends are usually crazy, I should be able to get a better judgement.

With the recent changes the DEVs have made, entertainers have no function in the game and they no longer have any need to fix any of our bugs or issues as we have no effect on game play. This now puts us on the absolute lowest priority for development time, we can expect no further work to be done to support us.
