OK folks, I hopped on to watch the Dev chat. I sawa question about entertainers, thought I'd share:

Question by Utess:

"The Musician and Dancer professions are currently the only professions in game who's every function can be played 100% afk all of the time. While hologrinding is ending, this has given rise to a new generation of buff bots that are just as bad, if not worse, to these two professions. Do the devs have any strategies being worked on to resolve this problem? And, if so, what are they and when will we see them."

<Runesabre> We as a team feel AFK macroing is harmful to the game, especially to Dancers and Musicians. We have had a lot of discussions internally on how to solve this problem without hurting the professions at the same time.

<justG> We don't like AFK either.

<Runesabre> It's not an easy problem to solve but we definitely wish to find a solution.

Not exactly a thrilling answer, but at least they're thinking about it, and agree it's a problem.

I also thought this was a very interesting bit of info:

Question by Kagomi:

"How are the non-combat professions like entertainers and artisans supposed to do the Jedi trials to unlock their jedi slots?

<Haden> We have taken the non-combat types into account....

<Haden> When you become Force Sensitive, you path to becoming a Jedi starts in what we're calling the "Village."

<Haden>The village has a whole background that ties into the history of the Jedi, and is populated with NPC's that give you quests.

<Haden> You don't have to complete all of them, and there are quest progressions for different types of players.

<justG> Look for more info on the village soon on In Concept

<Haden> So, combat-heavy players will be able to go on combat-centric quests.

<Haden> And artisans will have crafting quests, all tied into the storyline revolving around this village.

<Haden> Again, we'll be posting more on the In Concept page soon.

<justG> So stay tuned, folks, for more info on The Village

I was rather curious about this one, myself - I was figuring I'd need to use my combat alt in order to get a Jedi. I guess maybe we'll be able to get Jedis, too?

the whole afk bit they have BEEN saying for how long now ?? Internal ??? Why are we even bothering putting ideas out for them then ?

But still all this time and no one is willing to come out and say that the unattended macroing of ALL the profs is a screw up and an exploit. And all this time no one is willing to even tell us that yes they are working on it. Noo we still get the Ohh yeah we don't like afk but we're still talking about it among our combat powergamer selves here in the office. ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh *grumbles*

Well let's just hope the song is kick-ass, 'cos we have 2 great songs ("Ballad" and "Virtuoso"), one okay song ("Folk"), and 7 mediocre to horrendous songs. With all my skill in tweaking them to get the best sound using instrument combinations I can get 8 songs that I'm relatively happy with, but I'm afraid"Rock" and "Star Wars 3" are lost causes.

If we get another song of the same calibre as "Star Wars 3", I will not be a happy camper.

Since June 2004, running one of the game's first completely nonviolent characters. Testing the limits of non-combat MMORPG play and trying to have fun into the bargain (although the developers make it difficult).

Combat is no longer compulsory.

Is it just one new song for the year, or one new song with these particular quests? My understanding is that they've recorded several new songs, but I could be mistaken.
