Thread: Male Dancers
are any of the other male dancers actually roleplaying as a gay person other then me? i mean, i try not to be stereotypical(my other char is a creaturehandler/pistoleer), but is anyone else actually going for the "light in the loafers* look?

Nothing wrong with male dancers. In real life, any lady who has not had a handsome, well-built man give them a lap dance is missing out. Ahhh, my college years and the late-night strip club road trips... I'll never forget the one time this one dancer practically ripped my designer blazer off by body, then forcefully pushed me back into a seat and then started to give me a close-contact dance with hint of kinkyness... For a split second I was thinking "Hey watch it buddy! That's a designer blazer you almost tore to shreds!!!" .. But then the voice of reason sounded through my conscience and it said : "WHO CARES!"
Anyway, more power to you male dancers out there! You have my respect, and if any of you are on bloodfin let me know. I need a to have a belated bachelorette party.
I am a male Dancer on Lowca server in corriela. I dance coz i love it. And all the female dancers, are just way to good to me. But i dont dance for money. I dance due to its so fun. But one thing i hate is being called a f@g and that really annoys me.

I was a male dancer just long enough to get Master Entertainer (don't ask about the week I spent as a male hairstylist!) ...
Anyhow, my two credits worth -- I got better tips as a newbie Novice Entertainer wailing "Star Wars 1" on the slitherhorn than as a male dancer Apprentice Performer. As a male musician, I was having a lot of fun ... sure you have to "work" for your tips. Chat up the patrons, actuallylisten to what they say, tell a few jokes, heal their fatigue and wounds, and bing -- suddenly you're getting thousands in tips each night. But as a male dancer, I mostly got ignored (and got outright insulted once or twice) ... even fellow entertainers tended to overlook me. I can't count the number of times I was in a dancing group and someone would say, "Girls, let's switch tosuch-and-such dance" or "BRB, ladies!"
The worst, though, was late one night when some loud-mouth stumbled into the cantina and started swearing aboutAFK dancers. "Too bad you're all AFK. I was gonna give somebody a 10k tip ... you lose!!!" So I quickly point out that while all the ladies were away, I'm still there live and in-living-color. He replies, "Sorry, I'm not giving a 10k tip to a dude," and leaves.
Well the good news is i never did quit.In fact I am ack dancing again. The gay coments have pretty much stopped except for the occasional idiot.I just play around and tease the female dancers and stuff. Its fun.I'm glad i didn't quit after all.If any of you are on kauri pay me a visit anytime between 6-10:30 11 o clock easter time.I"m usually there dancing away and messing around with my entertainer friends.

I solved the gay thing easily.I started doing popluck 2 all the time
Now most if the guys in the cantina think its cool so yay!!!
Just thought I'd let ya know
I started as a Male Dancer just over a week ago.
Yesterday I had someone /tell me asking if I was gay, saying I must be because I look like one.
I returned his comment asking if he asks if all female chars if they are women in RL, and does he accuse them of being transvestites, but this clearly went over the hollow reaches of his head.
I'm 30, married with a kid, but hey, you tell someone that ignorant such facts and you think they believe you? No. He already made up his mind before even asking. And then had the nerve to say "You must be about 10 years old", ironic seeing as I had him pegged for about 13 years. So he is on the /deny and /ignore lists, and I decided to announce what he was doing across the cantina - if he wants to be so abusive he can do so with everyone seeing him for what he is, and not get away with doing it on the quiet.
That guy was just ignorant and offensive - Others say "You look gay doing that dance" and they obviously mean the moves, but that aint my fault, I just reply "I dont create the dances, just perform them" and if they persist, the other reply is "Well, Im the one surrounded by these lovely lady performers all day everyday, so don't worry yourself over me, Im just fine"
Then, like you say, theres the "Testosterone factor" regarding male customers andfemale entertainers. Okay, guys come inand look at the girls dancing - incidentally I notice a lot of the girl chars do too, which is probably indicative of the fact there's a male playing them
Well, that's a fact of life, I can live with that. Im sure I've done it plenty myself, a habit I will change having been on the other side of the equation now! Many would ratherwatch and tip an AFK female char than an awake and talkative male dancer. So be it.
Only this morning I was the only entertainer in the cantina, then suddnly a female dancer containg the phrases "a teenage prostitute" and "expert cyberer" in her profile, came along - so as you can imagine I had no tips during her stay, how could I compete with that?! (no responses to that one, thanks!)
The bit though that does bug me is on some occasionsmy action bar is close to empty, and all the heals are going to top up the female dancers the moement they lost about 50-100 action points, and that annoys me far more than any tip favouritism. So i mention it on my group and all the girls ask that I get a heal - that works great because the guys with the stimpacks think they are doing it for the girls ![]()
All that said, there are more than enough highs in this game that keep me going. The girl dancers I perform with think it's great and are always messing about with me, and my friend introduced me to the gals at Astral Fantasia who have been really encouragin and helpful. And it's people like that that make me keep going and ignore the people like theabusive little kidI mentioned.
I have more friends through dancing a week than i did from 2-3 months of hunting and shooting. And 10 minutes with one of my friends makes up for a whole days worth of insults and being ignored.
Lastly, Im not generalising, there are players who see me as a dancer, pure and simple, watch me, heal me, tip me. And they are the people I do this for.
Ok.. I myself love having male dancers, they provide a great relief in the cantina, I flirt--and I flirt a lot--so it's great having someone to flirt with, no matter when. I actually think I flirt with the male dancers more then my patrons. I love to dance with Helm and Lestate, and Aleksy is always forever spamming me with IDing. lol.. I love them guys.
Wub ya,
Terrence
Hmm, not a Dancer yet, just an male Entertainer, but interested in Dancer.
I do think that they need to re-worksome ofthe dances for male specific. I picked up Entertainer one night because after sitting in an empty Cantina for about 15 minutes with about 10 other folks all beat black and blue, I decided to run outside, dump some credits for N. Ent. and tossed together a horn real fast with some parts I had lying around. I fixed everyone up and got tipped pretty well. Mostly because of everyone being appreciative of me doing that for eveyone. Never had much of a problem getting tips playing instruments. But I decided to play around a bit with dances and almost wanted to shoot my toon in the head to put him out of his misery.
Ended upworking Ent. into his character. I've always RP'd him as a flirt, suave, player type, and decided to keep dancing for mixxing it up with the ladies in the Cantina. Have had a blast with that, except that alot of the ladies I dance with seem more concerned with getting the XP from better dances that I can't match yet. Now, when a lady is willing to step down to a dance I know, we looked **edit** good together. Got lots of compliments from the crowd.
The best way I found of getting tips is to do it on the road. Best money night I had out dancing was when I went to Dantooine with a large crew. I'm a pistoleer and working on squad leader. Well, after a Dark Jedi Knightplus a couple Adepts at the same time later, I was helping get everyone healed up. Made a good bit of money, because the one thing that I have noticed is that when eveyone is more concerned with getting back up on thier feet and back in the fight, they don't care that your a guy prancing around, they just want the wounds healed and the fatigue gone and they are *very* glad that your able to do that for them. With 20 folks crammed in this tiny little room, they aren't really looking at you shaking your money maker, they are just watching the BF and Wounds disappear. Had many folks tipping me 1-3k tips.
As far as Cantina dancing on regular worlds, I don't make jack. My character's fiance (and RL friend) is a female dancer, and in the same Cantina working the same crowd at the same time, she'll bring home 5-10k cr. in the amount of time that I *might* make 300 cr.
Just the way it is. Don't like it, but ah well. *screams "Equal Pay for Equal Work!"* *chuckles*
Just my not so humble experiences.
I.
