I have read the previews for Pub9 and 10 and I dont see any of what you are talking about mentioned! Unless you know more then the rest of us on this. Anyway do as you see fit. Everything will become clear soon . . . or as clear as things get in SWG.

If you have mastered more Profs, then you will have more points to buy boxes with... so yes, ent is still included in that. However, if you so hate Ent profs, that's still only 4 profs you are missing out on by not doing them. If you did all of the other 28 profs, you would most likely unlock before the change, but if you didn't that would still be a lot of points even with out us.

Most of the people I have seen mastering since the news are people who do like Ent profs. Really, now that it is so open, you really don't have to do anything you hate and you shouldn't. Not until prof 29 at least.

I think the new system will allow me to do the Quests as a Dancer if I am a Dancer or a TK if I am a TK... or a Tailor if I am a Tailor. That's how I read it and how it's been explained to me by those who are guessing. These are just guesses though.

Out of all the things I've read about the jedi revamp, I never once saw a dev come out and say that the quests would mean you would have to master certain professions in order to complete the quest. I can't even really come up with an interpretation as such. But, I will say that if it does entail directly mastering other professions to unlock, I, for one, will be severely disappointed because that is in no way different than the holocrons. I would like to *think* the devs have a lot more sense than that. Maybe I'm giving them too much credit, but considering the outcry over the holocrons that would just be sheer stupidity.

They surprised me once with the space expansion. Never in my dreams did I think we'd have others walking around our ships and manning our turrets. But, hey, they got that one right. I have faith they're going to make the quest system something more than Holocron II: Electric Boogaloo.

Even if this doesn't eliminate afk grinding (which it won't), I am hoping it will greatly lessen it to the point where we can hopefully find a happy medium somewhere, where at least the people afk grinding will want to actually *be* that profession and put it to fun and good use once they master. I can live with that.

Wow, two posters with a lick of sense. I am with you. I hope that the dev's do take the time to do this one right.I have little faith based on past performance but I can hope just the same. Trust me I havn't just been floundering out there, I got the dreaded entertainer holo then just started mastering random proffs in the hope of racking up points. I can also honestly say that I enjoyed talking to most of the people as I was grinding the proff but.....the ID changes just sent me over the edge. This was a direct attempt by the devs to end afk macroing, which in theory I have no problem with if its applied with a small amount of thought. Take this for example, instead of negativly impacting the playability of a proff by adding a timer, why not do something like take out the ability to add the color value, so if you are macroing you have to enter a color preference every few seconds while you sit at your computer and grind, or take out the ability to set a flourish value, so if you are forced to choose one of the 8 flourishes while you are grinding similar to having to manually click resources while grinding any of the artisian proffs. This instantly gets rid of the AFK macro's without harming the casual player or effecting the playability of a certain proff.

Calm down Damcon.Nobody is telling you to get out. YET. Ha ha, just kidding.

You have valid points about ways to encourage at-the-keyboard play of a profession without hurting others, and believe me, entertainers have made similar suggestions to any dev who would listen, oh these many months. In the Dancer forum we've tossed around ideas like a timer that auto-logs an AFK person after a certain (lengthy) period of time, eliminating the gain of xp after being AFK for some length of time (that way the people who claim they are AFK just to help others wouldn't be affected), and so on. I mean come on, I'm not opposed to being able to use a macro (sheesh I could hardly buff/talk/stay sane at the same time without one), or even being able to continue dancing AFK for a short period (I mean I go to the bathroom/answer the door/grab a snack/do the laundry just like everyone else).

The original point of this thread was that Runesabre, who's pretty high up on the dev food chain, is on record saying that AFK macroing has hurt the game. What they will actually do to fix it is anyone's guess. Maybe they have nothing more planned than the Jedi revamp, maybe more...we don't know. But I'm pretty sure the new Jedi quest system won't require mastering professions, since that would just be the same thing as the current system and pretty, well, stupid.

And now I'm off to create a new dance routine called "Holocron 2: Electric Boogaloo."

Those posts of mine which you are no doubt talking about were caused by an error in my software/PC. 3 fragmented posts were generated over which I had no control. I edited them so that they were at least not the same fragment, since I could not delete them.If you'll notice I apologized for them. I have also strived to be constructive and courteous throughout. I will comment no further.
