My problem with the cantina cover charge idea this:

I usually play in the mornings right after the servers come up from maintenance. Often times, I am one of 5 or 6 entertainers playing to one or two combatants. There is no way for me to make any credits with a cover charge that way. The cover charge would have to be exorbanant to make even a few hundred credits in an hour.

The NPC behind the bar idea would be a near direct replacement for the Noble in the theater. So I now propose this:

I wrote:

"Approach the NPC behind the bar and request a gig. The NPC says he will pay you 500cr to play for 15 minutes. You go ahead and play. In 15 minutes, you get paid. It's that easy. The people watching are free to tip if they like your service (and not obligated to do so), and you are being paid to do what you were going to anyway. This would also stop the AFK macro-er from getting rich because they would be forced to speak to the NPC every 15 minutes."

Cantina wrote:

"As for your idea, it sounds perfectly reasonable, but I disagree with the idea that players should be getting their money from NPCs. How can we build a player economy if all of the money is coming from outside of that economy (i.e. from NPCs)? " "Perhaps if all cantinas had a cover charge (refunded to performers after they have been playing/dancing for a set period of time to prevent people taking entertainment skills to dodge the fee), that would work. Instead of money magically appearing from NPCs that exist outside of the game's economy, they dancers and musicians would be paid based on the amount of traffic that comes to the cantina. "

Implement my NPC bartender idea. Reduce the NPC payout from 500cr for 15mins of performing to 250cr. Implement the cantina cover charge as suggested. This way would allow entertainers that can not log on during the peak hours to make some cash and it will help stimulate a player based economy.

I understand the idea of being paid according to the amount of traffic in the cantina. My real issue with this is people have real life obligations. Not all of us can log on during the peak hours where traffic in the cantina is high. We need a fair system of getting paid no matter what time you are able to log on. I am also concerned as to how this would affect the cantinas in towns that do not see that much traffic. I often travel to Keren on Naboo. I go there because I know there is a need for my service and the cantina is usually empty. The people that walk in often will tip very well because they know I will make the trip there and they do not have to travel to Theed to get healed. If there is a cover charge to get in, I doubt I will see the income from tips anymore.
