Odd,
I was just hit with 3355 damage yesterday.. thinking with my own buffs I wouldn't need the armor.
Then tried again with the armor and the "HAM Costs" nearly killed me.

It's based on percentages. A Master will buff 100% of the base value (so a Master dancer will buff 300 mind to 600). Note it's 100% of the UNWOUNDED base value - so in the previous example if, when you /stopwatch, you have 66 mind wounds you will end up with a 234 buff on top of your 234 undamaged mind. It does ignore buffs from food and spice.
Entertainers can get enhancements which increase the buff, so greater than 100% is possible and less than masters are proportionally less than 100%.
Therefore it's important that your memory base stats are half decent and why you'll often see PvP people will high mind and low Health and Action. They allways fight buffed and know that they need the high mind base to get a good buff. This is likely to change should SOE, as is hoped, change Doc buffs to a similar percentage system.

The first thing in that is ruining the game is Jedis>>>>>but I don’t need to go into that since well everyone else has.
>>>> /standing ovations
The second is (and hear comes the fire storm) Buffs:
Buffs are in need of a nerf. You only seem to see one of three things 1. noobs who can’t afford them 2. Ppl that are always buffed. 3. Ppl with 400 heath and action and 1.2k mind in line to get buffed.
People are no longer concerned with ham cost of weapons or armor. So why even have costs???? There is no reason you should be able to slap on a full suit of 80% comp armor if it was supposed to be that way armor would come in one piece. Weapons: well with the advent of buffs anyone can spam their most powerful special. So he with the strongest gun wins. Before you could own at Pvp with your stats tweaked right, and a good combo of moves that didn’t trash your ham but still hit for good dam. Another reason buff suck is that anyone can fly to endor and take hi payout missions. This has had two effects on the game. 1 the social aspect of grouping and going on missions has diminished. 2. The economy is all out of whack. I can easily get buffed for three hours and make 200k-400k alone. I remember when it took a day or two of heavy playing to do that. More ppl have more money so things cost more.
>>>>Sorry not with you on this one. We may never know how many players can afford the time to be a "HEAVY PLAYER" I know I can not. Buffs allow me to play parts of the game that would take several months of boring "gameplay". Buffs allow me to be a crafter AND a fighter without having to buy several subscriptions. I also do not belive the economy is out of whack. The ability of anyone to buff and cash in are across the board so market fairness is in effect.
Hears how I would like to fix the problem.
>>>>> I do not agree that there IS a problem.
Buffed stats will be based on the un buffed stat. up to 50% (or 75%)
So 400 action would have a maxed buff stat of 600 (or 700)
This would cause players to have to have all their stats be in a range that would be functional for unbuffed play
>>>>>Which means if you roll for a crafer you will always be a crafter, I think this would do one of two things. Either drive people away from the game or force people to have multiple accounts (I know SOE already depends on the latter).
I see some hate mail in my future

You are entitled to your opinion. If you buffs are ruining the game for you, then i suggest you not get buffs and play. Have fun.

I actually like that idea. I'd prefer it be a bit higher then 50%... maybe 100%-150%. Doubling your current stats would still leave you in a state you are unused to. most people would probably migrate to somewhere around 700HA. havingHA around 1400 would still make you change your style to accomidate the reduced regen rate.
Lol imagine the hate tells Docs would get after charging 15k for a 1000 health buff and saying it's a good one...

I do think buffs are a little overpowered, I maean, you just shouldn't be able to solo the toughest critters in the galaxy. The percentage increase idea sounds pretty good, I could go for that. As far as the economy goes, well, it can never really be "out of whack", it matches a real world economy with supply and demand, prices and trends will just be what they are.

Buffs increase your stats for a while.
Doctor buffs, which cost around 15k, increase your health, strength, constitution, action, quickness, and stamina. Dancer buffs increase the mind, and Musician buffs increase focus and willpower.
There are also food buffs that can increase various stats. The best food/drink for mind is canape (food), brandy (drink), and muon gold (drink/spice). I would say the best spice not for mind is nuetron pixie.
Food buffs you can buy from chefs, vendors, or the bazaar.
