It's a little more involved than that, in my opinion.

It would be equivalent to the devs removing all weapon certifications from Brawler and the Advanced Brawler Professions except daggers, with the "promise" that more weapons would be coming eventually, and that they'd be AWESOME.

Yes, that would be great to have awesome weapons. It would also be awesome to have them ready at the same time that they removed literally half of what drives the profession.

Well. I just re-activated my account after a month's hiatus. I've sporadically visited the Entertainer & Musician boards while taking my break, and I have to say the decisions to make performers completely without mechanical reason to exist in the game (other than the vague promise that I'll believe when I see, and not hold my breath for, profession-specific "inspirations" that will almost guarenteed not be worth it) has had the effect of almost making me not come back at all. Only heartfelt attachments to in-game, role-playing friends could get me to do it. The first thing I did? I changed my forum icon from the Musician one to the Swordsman one. I never thought I'd ever change from the Musician icon, because the opportunity to interact on a non-combat, non-crafting level was one of the things that made me change my mind from my initial "No way in hell am I playing another SOE game" to "Ok, if I can play a twi'lek musician, that'd be cool!"

I'm disappointed in SOE for their utter failure to take what was supposed to be an interesting, exciting, experimental new form of gameplay and realize its potential. It's a joke, now. Everything that made me willing to play SWG in the first place is going down the drain: interdependance between combatants, crafters & social players; a way for a casual gamer to play and actually see progress within a reasonable amount of playing time invested; and the whole concept of a social style of gameplay in the first place.

The dream was nice while it lasted. Time for me to wake up, now. Only the combat monkeys and those that directly support them in traditional forms get attention.

I wonder how long my friends can keep me in-game this time.

To directly address the changes "In Development" (and how often has anything the Entertainer community has said actually mattered to the people who design but don't actually play this game?), unless the Entertainer professions are made 0 skillpoint, like Politician, there is less than no reason to waste skillpoints on them. Politicians have direct, mechanical impact on the game and other players, yet it's a profession open to anyone without penalizing their combat effectiveness.

I think since they are planning on getting rid of BF they should give us the ability to do more stuff for people. Give us something that makes people want to listen/watch us. Maybe do away with the 10% xp thing and up it to more of a xp bonus, maybe allow us to give people double xp for so many hours. Allow us to give bigger and better buffs. Cause if they don't make us worth while to watch/listen too the entertainment profis gonna die fast.

What? I don't flame, silly Dancer. Anyway, no, I think you have a right to that opinion. I also think you've made it very well known.

If BF really was equal and fair, I think it would be more like the Universal Fatigue we talked about once. So everyone really did get it. I also think having what Caylin and some of the other combat corrs talked about once called "positive BF" would have made it make more sense and be a fuller game mechanic.

I also think it would have needed to actually have some noticeable side effects beyond just making it a pain to med heal someone. It should have worked like a daze at max fatigue so all you could do would be get to a BF soother. I also think there should have been options with various degrees of penalties: Chef Foods, Smug Spices, maybe the Ent Band Aid buff we talked about for the field.

The fact is, with its weak contrived one sided implementation, I think BF was a flop and generally not fun. That's just my opinion though. I don't expect everyone to share it. I think we're going to be better off with out it since it wasn't going to be improved. I hope everyone is happy with the changes in the end.

OMG I LOVE IT! ok check this... I think devs really got lazy while they were decorating static cantinas for ONE THING. I'd like to see some random non-converse aliens in there! I chill in Bestine every galaxy i'm in, IMperial capitol, The stormy searches are a little annoying sometimes, but I like to see a good fire fight, so why not have a stmory guard some place? Or a bouncer? bouncers would make great mission terminals!

The POSITIVE BF is brilliant! Imagine, needing a certain amount of +BF to wear your assault armor, coming back 14 hours later, maybe an arm peice falling off, some bleeding action? Slowly reversed to normal by your lovely entertainers (like when you hit random on a new character, oooh thats smoothe animation)

Replace some cantinas with higher class buildings such as a Lounge or Bar or STRIP CLUB... those exotic leatards hollah.
But seriously, they start to look like dumps...

Why aren't there any computer around? Theres no networked televised... i dunno COMMERCIALS?! Revamp the buildings and put in some computers, have a function where you can log on to mIRC channels , doesn't unreal tournament 2004 have that? AT the very least there should be something for chat in game just for interplanetary chat or LaunchPad even. i realise you can jump around with your chat window and stuff, if you have the access already why not implement something thats user friendly that looks real? How long could it take to whip up something like that? DEVs are smart!!! SILENCE!!!!

I was thinking also that if they move Image design around, they should probably some how incorperate Medic or Doc in there somehow. It does have great features for your look, but a lot of it, like your facial features is some pretty big surgery. WHY NOT OPEN UP DENTISTRIES AND PLASTIC SERGEON BUILDINGS, it could help SMUGGLERS, smugllers use universal languages to get more quests from NON-CONVERSE NPCs buy faction points at these locations - hunt jedi at these locations, finally make use of your JEDI MIND TRICK and PRUSUASION MODS.

But don't mess image design up too much, don't tell me your entertainer would go onstage looking like they did gropping out of the tutorial placenta...heh PLACENTA... heh tutorial...

Back to buying faction points at those plastic seargeon offices and what not... why not make a new LAYWER PROFFESSION too that goes with POLITICIAN... most politicians are doctors and/or lawyers before they're politicians. People buy faction points all the time off regular peopel all the time! and of course you get a better ratio the higher rank you are. Just hire an ambulance chaser to get factionpoints with jabba, nym, valarians, jawas,DROIDS.

MORE DANCES - Encompase teras kasi or unarmed 4 and get more exotic dances- something that look likes Jamaican style fighting, you know where they kick and miss eachother over their heads, under their feet.

DUET DANCES - formal 1 and 2 are waste... we're just strippers untill wedding ceremonies are held and couples dance.

SOME KIND OF VOICE COMMS - a program that can broadcast the master musician and allow them to play mp3s from their
C:\Program Files\StarWarsGalaxies folders so they can be monitered by launchpad. This can allow the admins to tune in to check for harrasment.

Seriously smugglers should be crawling around cantinas cause they're supposed to be bad places in SW, little drug runners running around should be the problems to discuss, not why the proffs are gettin chewed up ='(

I dunno i'm pretty baked right now by i know ONE THING for sure... They shouldn't take away playing some music to the troops!
nothing like wipping out a harmonica (or a harmonica identical instrument) and jamming out in a multiperson camp. Don't burn the guys fighting the war =(

Removing BF is a bad mistake.

It will remove a connection with other players that is needed, and what you are getting to replace it isn't going to generate money.

You know, as far as mechanics to enforce ATKness, I'm wondering if there's a tie-in with props.. What if props are required to give buffs and have a timer (the anti-AFK in me says 15 minute timer, and the actually-playing-the-game-and-not-wanting-to-recharge-ever-15-minute part of me says 30 minute) that expires and *poofs* the prop, therefore no more buffing until you come back and make another one?

But I guess I should stop speculating and just wait at this point to see what pans out.

(By the way -- We don't even know what we're getting to replace BF healing, only that they will be elite level inspiration buffs, so how can we know if it will or won't generate an income? Lets all keep our hawtpants on and not freak out when we don't even know the whole story...)

This really is a shame. SWG has these unique professions as far as MMORPGsare concerned and they are letting them die.

I had something suggested to me in game today that I think is very fair.

"Since entertainer is now just a hobby profession that serves no viable purpose in gameplay why not remove all the skill point requirement for it.

Make the ent professions the same as Politician for example. Anyone can do them, they don't count toward the 250 skill points you have to use."

At least then I think you will still have entertainers in the game, after a hard day using your combat skills you can all chill out and play around in the cantina.

Doesn't break gameplay in anyway since entertainers aren't going to have anything to contribute to gameplay balance and all that junk.

I agree with you 100% on this one.

In my personal opinion the changes the devs are making seem rash and almost without any "brainhours" spent trying to make up for what they are taking away. First my Medical skills now my wifes Entertainer skills....................

Because my husband and I share an account, I'm writing under his name, but I am Tantrys Kay'Lana from Corbantis. I started playing this game to be social, not to be in combat, so the entertainer professions were very much what I was attracted to. I thought, "Cool, I can be social while doing some good healing people." Now there's no poin in having entertainers? How useless does that make someone who literally dropped every other skill other than entertainer, image designer, musician, and dancer? I wish I'd never canceled my respec token. I didn't need it because I knew I wanted to be the "super entertainer" so to speak. Now, if I still had it, at least I could do something else without having to waste my time.

What's next, combat medics don't heal? Or maybe doctors. What if they're phased out? Yeah that's it, everyone can be totally healed by medicine they administer themselves. Bartender, bactas all around! This is utterly rediculous! I love being the person to whom the combatants come when they need to relax and heal, but now that's being taken away from me.

The devs take my healing away and what, I'm a private dancer? I'm a Twi, so OOLA SAVE A SEAT FOR ME IN THE AFTERLIFE! I have no combat skills so I can't go out and kill stuff to make money, and I'd get to start from scratch. I agree totally with the no skill points needed. I'd love to entertain still, but how am I supposed to make any money without a real job?

Thank goodness for ID. At least I can make some credits when I give a makeover. Yeah, call me a combat beautician! Bring on the makeup and hair dye and we'll make you ALL PRETTY before your big battle!

Yes, I'm ranting, but the point is, what is an entertainer with no combat skills supposed to do? With no purpose, why should we be in game? Give us SOMETHING that matters!

I have not heard one word about the developers removing AFK when JFreeman dropped the nerf announcement. All indications point toward them creating a "bot friendly" game.

Flipping the channel for a sec:

Could we get experience gains fixed on all post-launch songs, please?

It's so important for up and coming musicians, as well as any of us who like to play in public cantinas. Players there play what gives them xp, and the new songs just do not. Obviously it's just a part of the code missing, just copy and paste from the relevant already-working songs.

Also, what do Musicians get to compete with props? Besides having Music Knowledge nerfed, that is.

When i read the Changesi begin to think we get a second WoW but called SWG. SWG had a unique Role in the MMROPGS with that but now? SWG goes to be a Copie of some Other Games to get more Single-Player who don't want the interaction with other Players and when only for hunt and no other Things.
