The first part bit before the colon, e.g. dma: is the alias name used to execute it in game.

So in game typing /dma would execute everything after the colon. Notice that they have the /dmb; at the end to autoload the next alias in their sequence.

Make sense?

I'm having a problem with the alias. I had one that ran perfectly for several days. Then yesterday afternoon it stopped working properly. I haven't changed anything with it. It will execute a line, maybe 2, at most 3, but then it just stops. I was wondering if anyone else was having this problem or if it's been nerfed.

Hey everybody. Nice to see this thread's been revived. Here's a new song I made, "X-Wing Men." I'm running songs as aliases now, which has proven to be much easier, IMO. Just copy what's below into a text file in your Galaxies folder, and name the file "xwing." When you're ready to play, equip your slitherhorn or one of its variants and type /load xwing.txt. Then type /xxxto start the alias. Your toon will begin playing the music.

Now... to run the lyrics, do the following: On an emply row of your toolbar, create twelve hotkeys for macros titled xxa, xxb, etc., through xxl. Each macro should contain the same command line as its title, so "xxa" will simply read /xxa, "xxb" /xxb, etc. When your toon gets to the point in the music where you're ready to sing the first line (should be at the first flourish 5), press the appropriate xxa hotkey.He/she willsing the line. Press hotkey xxb for the next line, etc. The great advantage to this song system, I've found, is I no longer have to mess with working out lyric timings in the macros themselves, arranging it just so so that the lyrics fall on the appropriate measures. You just run all the singing manually. Cutting and pasting, its easy to adapt these text files for new songs as well.

I have to agree, it's nice after reading tons of complaints and negativism to read a thread like this and see not only some great alias/macro help, but also some pretty creative songs, too!

I like the dance.txt, thanks for that! Now I can watch movies or something and let my dancer gain the annoying exp for Dance IV and Dancer (since I am just a casual player), however, I will more than likely just do that in my lil abode and not in a bar as I hate to do that to my tipping public.

Neat songs, too. I have a DE on Intrepid that plays the Fizz (Musician II almost III), so I might try one or two of those songs, just for fun, sometime.

This is a great thread. Having just got the game a couple of weeks ago, this has really helped. Well as I now have Folk I have created this song macro. I'm trying to come up with some lyrics for it and hopefully will soon. In the meantime here it is:

First i'd like to thank Starkad for his nice songs and for letting me discovering the joy of composing

I play in Tyrena's cantina on Eclipse and while the singing have not made me rich, it increased sensibly the tips i got (one has to pay for clothes !). I think it's time for me to repay thae moral debt i contracted for using your songs Tarkas : give you my first one (i hope to write more).

One last word before singing, though the songs are nice, they are very pro-rebel (no problem by me) but once an imp gorilla insulted me and wanted to duel me ! (i didn't even carry a CEDF) so that made me thought of lyrics that could go well with everyone.

Hmm, music...

I find putting a /say something on the end of performance Macro's is a good idea, because it means that you have an indication of when the macro has ended, and that you can do other things, or start it again if you wish. I use a (non-looping) macro to do a whole heap of flourishes and the like when I'm performing, and I end by saying "Smokin'". I then either run it again (if there are people listening), or stop playing and leave if I'm finished.

It's been said previously on this thread, but it's handy to highlight:using the command /dump will stop ALL MACRO'S CURRENTLY RUNNING. Useful for when you start that wonderful, long performance, and then get a /tell from a friend needing help elsewhere.

What a wonderfull thread to find after reading all those anti AFKMer threads.
