If you know so much about economics, what happens when you get an infinate supply of something? You get null demand, no? So JasonK dear, why would you pay for something that will give you service whether you pay for it or not? Sounds pretty silly to me. Actually, it sounds like communism, to pay people that aren't working. You should save that money and buy some good armour or a weapon. Pay someone who actually puts some effort into something. Otherwise, nobody will have any motive to put effort into anything.

An increase in supply increases the quantity demanded at a lower equilibrium price. So infinate supply would mean all demand is satisfied at the lowest possible price, in this case free. Which leads to your second question.
Why would I pay for something that's free? Why do people tip other entertainers if the equilibrium price is free? Why do people pay a dollar for a free cup of coffee at the rest stop? Why do people donate to charity? Cause I think it's a good cause, I get aservice out of it whether somebody puts a little or a lot of effort into it, and so I give them an incentive to continue doing it. Sorry to burst your bubble, but flying to a remote planet and setting up amacro to run while AFK does take some effort.
haha in uh what economy?.... no an increased supply beyond demand creates a surplus. A surplus creates a price crash. Price crash tends to lead to a loss of production which can then create shortage skyrocketing prices. .... jasonk i just have to thank you for being an ever present troll. Your posts while completely rediculous at least make me laugh. I always get a kick out of someone who is a know it all... (always the true loosers). You are much like many of the sales reps I train. Talk a huge game and produce zero. /cheer for jasonk... the joke of the forums!
Getting back on topic, I shared my tipping experiences in another thread on this forum, but I will summarize in brief.
Mind buffs: usually 2k-10k, sometimes much more, sometimes nothing.
Wound and BF healing: usually 1k-5k, sometimes much more, sometimes nothing.
For paid gigs where I am part of a band that's entertaining (usually in a player city) for a set amount of time, I usually get 40-50k. Sometimes a LOT more, but never less.
A group I was in won a "battle of the bands" competition on our server this past weekend. We split 5 million credits 6 ways (833,333 each). ![]()

Talk a huge game and produce zero. /cheer for jasonk... the joke of the forums!Where's all these skyrocketing prices caused by the huge surplus that crashed prices causing a shortage that caused the skyrocketing prices? Seeing as how most entertainers can't make much money I think they would disagree that they're getting skyrocket size tips, not to mention there hasn't been a loss of production at all despite the fact that supply far exceeds demand.
Take your USA Today watercooler talk economics and spew them on somebody who thinks you have a sliver of a clue what you're talking about.
Jason, the point is valid. You ever hear of the Great Depression?
On the subject of tipping, my main character is a crafter and rarely needs an entertainer but on the few occasions when I have used one I have realised days later that I have forgotten to tip. Fortunately the entertainers are usually good friends, so it doesn't really matter since we often help each other out with different things.
I have a fairly new character of Test Centre who will be my first real combat character. He's only needed a cantina once but was quite disappointed to find six entertainers in a cantina, all AFK. I ended up picking one of them and sent a tip when I was fully healed, along with an e-mail that I would have tipped 10× that amount if they hadn't been AFK.
At the moment my tipping rates (for non-AFK entertainers) are 5cr. per battle fatigue point and 10cr. per mind wound. I'll probably tip extra if an entertainer goes out of their way to engage me. I expect to tip more as my character progresses.
As for AFK entertainers, I'm highly tempted to send them all links to the download location for the UD 'cure for cancer' distributed computing agent. If they really need to burn CPU cycles they could at least do something useful with them
