I don't like afk entertainers, but because entertainers perform a healing function people will make entertainment bots to heal in remote places.

The ones that are doing it in the prime areas, well they just want the exp. This argument will rage forever. I've talked to macro people in every game I've played. They do it because they want something for nothing and nothing you say well ever change their minds. They don't feel what they are doing is wrong. The "it doesn't hurt you" argument is always number 1. It does hurt me, but not in the ways they can see or understand. AFK players play in a land of numbers of exp, of levels, of power, of accomplishment. The rest of usplay in a land of socialization.

Regular players are better off making their own entertainer troops and booking their own gigs. Stay out of the big cantinas and go have your fun that you can control.

Right they should just close this whole profession line and put up npc bots to heal with and charge at the door for an entertainer healing.

It is better than some guy saying "Welcome to Coronet Cantina please tip" every 9 seconds

I don't understand the problem either. When I'm playing my marksmen characters I sometimes spend forever waiting for an entertainer to show up. Sometimes I have to just sit my character down in a cantina and wait and wait until I get logged out. Same with doctors. So I made an entertainer and guess what? It's boring sitting in a cantina waiting for someone to come in. Then I made some macros and things moved along. I'm sorry if that's not as hard as waiting, and it's not, but I don't have the patience. And I have other characters I like to play and I also have a real life.

Now I understand what some people are mad about. I was in a cantina in Anchorhead and there was a big group playing and in the back was a guy who kept yelling "NAME tumbling! Tips Appreciated" over and over again. That's pretty annoying. I don't AFK at crowded places, I go for remote places or new cities where usually no one's in the cantina. I don't ask or expect tips. Get a job beating up baddies that pulls in money quick and gets you out of the cantina. And I spam but honestly not a lot, and it's amusing role-playing type stuff that I change periodically.

But since this is a question about getting rid of AFK entertainers, may I suggest letting them earn healing XP out in the field? You can't go looking for groups to entertain, you have to wait for them to come to you.

How about this solution:

The game knows when a Macro is being used. If it detects one being used repeatedly (and I'm not talking about a "composition" somebody's put together, but a real-I-am xp grinder), it sets you to AFK after a couple of minutes.

If you remain AFK for more than 15 minutes (say), you stop earning xp, regardless of what you're doing...

This way it means that people who are genuinely AFK to, say, get a drink or whatever, can use the flag to indicate they're AFK but then upon their return can switch it off. Those who remain AFK for extensive periods are given an on-screen message and then, if no "real" action is taken, they stop earning xp.
