How does one enjoy a game when one does not play it?

I posted a relevant (I think) message on a related thread.

There may be a role-playable solution -- STRIKE!!!

I don't think this discussion will ever end until SOE does/says something about it, so get used to it.

"If you don't like it, then dont watch me. *There are plenty of others who will.*"

I rest my case.

Honestly. How hard is it for you people to run your macros in the back of the cantina? Or how about IN YOUR HOUSES? If experience is such a non-issue, go play where you won't eff with other people.

I'm sorry, but if you can't out-roleplay an afk macro'ed character, you deserve to get no tips.

Heh, if you're talking while blowing a horn the AFKers already won!

Linzen, you and others who continue to ignorethe truth as it's offeredabout how AFKing does negatively effect other players in the game, offering cop outs like "Why don't you just mind your own game?" and "If you don't like it don't watch me.", are so frustrating for the majority who know what the right thing to do is.

The subject title of this thread is perfect. Lame is exactly what it is to be an AFK entertainer taking up space front and center at a cantina or hotel, while other players who are there toactually participate by having and creatingfun are pushed off to the side of the room.

For those of you who think that AFK macroing doesn't hurt the entertainer business, please read this post.

I tried as hard as I could to defend our profession, but this is just one guy out of thousands. I think I did a good job showing the side of those who aren't always AFK... but I shouldn't have to try so hard to defend myself and my profession. It's the AFKers who should be defending...

Sure, it's your 15 bucks, but why spend it ruining it for thousands of others? I find it selfish.

If you want to AFK, don't do it where legitimate entertainers work. Do it in the back (there are rooms in the back of cantinas) or in your house.

I have to weigh in on this one, too, because this has also affected me. Not just as an Entertainer, but also as a person of reasonably good taste. The only reason I started playing this game was because there were character class options that didn't involve killing things. I started out hanging out in cantinas, dancing or playing, and talking or listening to conversations. Now I show up and nobody talks to Entertainers because they think we're all Stripper-bots.

Stripper-bots are not only annoying for the reasons also listed above, but also because they tend to be the worst dressed, ugliest Entertainers. If we Entertainers shouldn't have to deal with them, you shouldn't have to look at them.

I waswilling to be nice about this, but after those comments about jealousy and minding my own business, this needs to be said:

I WILL MIND MY OWN BUSINESS WHEN YOU CAN KEEP YOUR UGLY AFK BUSINESS OUT OF MY FACE!

Ahem.

Back to you.

Exactly! If you are going to AFK, do it somewhere not on stage. I started an entertainer, and made a macro(although a non repeating one) and conversed with the patrons who came around.

I did AFK once on stage, and was politely asked by my group not to do so since that was rude. I had to agree with them on that one.

I do however, support looping macros. This allows the entertainer to, well, entertain. They can converse, emote and interact with other patrons. If you are constantly having to hit F# every 4-12 seconds, it's hard to chat!

I don't think you have the right to tell me where to dance or play. If there were only a certain number of people that would fit in the front of the cantina, then MAYBE you have a case. But the fact is, I dont care to sit in a back room where no one will watch (thus no healing exp). Kind of defeats half the purpose. Also, in the cantina I dance in, te entertainers know each other and talk with each other a lot, a pretty tight nit group. So when I go afk and leave for school, they dont have a problem. When one of them goes afk and goes shopping for groceries, or to get her hair done, I don't care about that either.

The only way that my going AFK affects "thousands of people", is that the thousands will get healed. Don't give me all this bs about how you are somehow harmed by people going AFK, it's crap, it's elitist, and it's not your business. You don't own the cantina and I don't work for you.

Once again I say "mind your own".

You just made our point for us. You won't get healing xp in the back? You think a newbie entertainer is going to get any healing xp with ten afk entertainers in the front of the cantina? You're HURTING other entertainers, especially younger ones, who are actually playing the game and at the keyboard. Are you people honestly this dense, or just acting ignorant so you don't feel so bad about screwing people out of experience?
