yes I think useing the star wras ideas of cantinas it work well. Remeber Cantinas were where smuglers, spice dealers, and basic scum hung out.

Thanks for your input folks.

The devs have opted to use a different name instead of 'red light district'. If it isn't already changed (I haven't visited test center in a few days) it will be changed shortly.

Besides, we all know the cantinas all have GREEN lights outside the back door.

I like it, but can understand the more prude individuals wanting an area of equal healing levels by a different name...

One isn't prudish for not wanting to be labelled in a manner identical to someone who provides sex for pay. Try implying that to your girlfriend and see how well it goes over-it's not because she is a prude, it's because that is extremely disrespectful.

If there's nothing wrong with 'red light district' why don't you suggest to your sister/girlfriend that she find a job in one?

Are you putting words in my mouth? I wasn't being sarcastic.

Why is anyone even talking about this any more? Let alone acting like anyone is getting nerfed?

Our correspondents already stepped up for us and kept entertainers from being reduced to hookers, when and if they implement this zoning in player run towns. Yay for them, I say.

And changing the name of a thing is not the same asnurfing a thing, Fetei. No more than not wanting to have it implied that you'resomethingequal toa hooker, if you've chosen music or dance as a profession, is the same thingas being a prude.

Yeah, what MoonLily said.

Nobody ever objected to players running brothels if they wanted to. What we objected to was the name of a specialized entertainer town being one that is inescapably tied to brothels. It's one thing to have a seamy side of town. It's another to have a large bonus to your ablities and have that bonus be available only in a seamy town. Prudishess, nerfs, and "ruining someone else's fun" don't even come into the picture.

This particular issue is a dead horse now. The devs (as far as I could tell) just chose the original name because it was colorful sounding. The community (in all three forums, not just this one) objected. The devs shrugged their shoulders and changed it. Nothing more to see here. Move along.

I agree. There should be places like the Mos Eisley cantina (movie version, not bright cheerful SWG version). If only that were possible.

Actually, since it's a dead horse, is it acceptable to ask that this thread (and similar threads) are locked? Further discussion about red light districts contributes absolutely nothing now. It also gives the wrong impression that input is still needed. I get th eimpression that this input is no longer needed.

I'd definitely dance in the red light district. I think it's a great idea. I rofl'd when I read it.

SlickRiptide requested that I lock this thread since this is no longer a necessary post and yet keeps getting necro'd. Please remember that we do not allow you to bring threads back from the "dead".

Thanks!
