Thread: How to find an entertainer to heal/buff you

Well I have a great story to share.
Last night I was playing on my combat alt (she's a bounty hunter/commando/tka with no entertainer skills at all). I was waiting in a starport and a dancer/musician that I know came up by the ticket droid and started dancing. She put on quite a show and had a lot of folks watching her as we waited. As the shuttle started to land she ended her routine and shouted something to the effect of:
"Attention players of Intrepid! Any time you need an entertainer for healing or buffs, be sure to join the 'ent' channel. Help us help you! Please tell your friends!"
Wow. What a GREAT way to advertise to people who don't check the forums! Brava to Thiana!

Great job
I've attempted to do the same on Chilastra, but most of my visitors are those that frequent the forums and have seen the lists posted for their convenience, as well as the threads supporting the EOC initiative. Ingame shouts, in my experience, are often ignored if you don't already have their attention. Smart move on her part, I'll have to begin thinking along those lines!

For the benefit of my friends on Starsider, I have started ENT there as well.
I trust it will be overflowing with entertainers in no time.
BTW.. It might not be a bad idea if you guys got together and agreed on a channel for all of the galaxies. Showing a unified front would do wonders for your cause.

Most people don't spend a significant amount of time on more than one galaxy
It would only be noticed by a small portion of our community: "Those-that-troll-the-forums."

I withdraw the suggestion then.
Although it is a bit easier to have a single channel (or catch phrase) when attempting to educate the masses.

I don't think it's such a bad suggestion.... All it takes is one person to login to another galaxy and the channel is created. Without looking up a list, it will just confuse people to see multiple entertainer channels.
Not sure if this is a problem or not, but I know I've created "ent" on a few servers just by logging in.

I made a quick edit to add Kauri to the list, after catching its ent channel randomly in another thread. I'm bumping now to request again that people from the servers not already listed please let me know your server's entertainment channel so I can add it to the list
.

Hmmm, I wish we had something like this on my server.
Best way to get one on your server is to start one! Create a channel with an obvious name (ent is popular) and pass it around to all the live entertainers you know. Post it on your server's forum. Spread the word.

Aye, 'tis what I just did last night.
Don't forget to advertise it on Planet chat ![]()
Oh, by the way Aleyo, please update your list with Naritus: atk ![]()

Going back to the original point... I'd like to say that I know many musicians and dancers who have quit the game, changed professions or started an alt due to AFK'ers taking over the cantinas. If recursive macros DO go away, I know the cantinas will quickly become what they once were.
I started my musician on Day 1 of SWG, and the atmosphere in the cantinas was awesome. All of the regular entertainers knew each other, and all of the entertainers knew the regular customers. We knew each other so well that when someone so much as bought a new pair of shoes, we all noticed. hehe If someone got a new dance or song, everyone knew. At some point during the holidays last year life got pretty busy and I wasn't able to log into SWG for a while. A few months later when I did have time to play again, I walked into my usual cantina to find about 25 afk musicians grinding away and yelling spam every few seconds. I was so disgusted. After frantically msg'ing all my old friends, I heard about the holos and what had become of SWG. Not a single one of them still entertained on a regular basis. Most of them had given up the profession completely for a combat role. I was even more disgusted. I kind of laughed as I thought back on a particular post on the Jedi board I had read a while back theorizing that one of the ways one could become a jedi was to master every profession, and how everyone flamed him to no end. /chuckle I didn't laugh long though. Within a few minutes I was rolling a new character myself. My MM/ME/MID has sat on the shelf since then, coming out only to chat and maybe play a song or two for my own benefit.
I guarantee you one thing though - if entertainers are forced to be at their keyboards again, I would give up my TKM in a heartbeat and go back to my nalargon.

Great thread, Aleyo. One correction: live ents on Chilastra now frequent UEC.
