Thread: To all the guys complaining about guys playing females
Trust me, I look physically nothing like that hot little number I play on SWG, and if I wore that much Spandex in public, I ought to be arrested for indecency. Hitting on a dancer in a cantina just because you think she's pretty is about as effective as mailing a supermodel and giving her your phone number. Your odds are about the same that she actually will have a super gorgeous bod and face to match, and actually be interested in a long term relationship with you.
If you really want to hook up with a real person on the other end of the computer, get to know your hunting buddies. Get to know the *personalities* behind the role playing game. Hunt often with the same people. After a while, you'll discover who of them are females in real life, and it may be that male moncalimari next to you. And you may find the personality more important than the looks. Because looks fade as you both age, but the personality never does.

1) Calling them "Homo" is "dissing Homo". It's the equivalent of saying **edit** or Jap... while it may be used as a shorter form of the word, it's still generally meant in an offensive tone. And being democrat has nothing to do with being offensive toward gay people or not.
All I will say on this is I AM REALLY SORRY I used the wrong word, should've used the term 'gay' instead(is that better, non offensive?), but that's ALL!
2)People think you're young because generally adults do not participate in the sort of behavior you condone. You very well could be an adult, but if you act like a kid you will be treated like a kid. Not necessarily a bad thing, but in this case you think it is...
What? Adults do not participate in socializing online, especially in an online game? Where is the truth in that? Where, or just you think so?
SHOW me some true study or whatever that Proves this, please!
3) A majority of adult players do not believe that a MMORPG is an appropriate place to pick up on the opposite sex. It's a role-playing game, not a singles chat room. If e-dating is booming, then we would prefer if it boomed away from our games. It's disruptive to our gaming sessions and makes many male and female gamers feel uncomfortable.
See my response to #2, and why else is there a Personal profile thing (CTRL-P) in this game has like hobbies, interest, etc?
Oh wait... I forgot Majority of players hates that feature (sarcasm) tsk *sigh*
In fact, I know several women who will no longer play female characters in online games because they're tired of being the target of sexed up male players looking for a thrill or a long-distance girlfriend. It may not seem like you are harassing them, but when they have to deal with every other male player trying to pick up on them it becomes harassment and MMORPG's are simply not the place for it.
And it doesn't matter if you say you respect women and if you don't talk about sexual things to them and so on. It's still not right that you're looking to pick them up.
Hopefully this has cleared up the reasons why people get so irritated when others start complaining about the player behind the female character not being a women. In the scope of this game it shouldn't matter in the least unless you're looking to participate in an activity that we do not approve of in MMORPG's.
It seems you are still saying this game is NOT meant to be social for REAL.. I UNDERSTAND what you are say. But that's your opinion, you aren't comfortable with online dating, that's your belief. Mine is I have faith in E-dating.
And, I am definately NOT one of them people you described, and when I met a female (as I said prior) I'll start bysocial/flirt w/ her (using emotes)for a while, then try to see if she is interested in further E-relationship.
Well If not, hey I won't bother her much more. If she likes it, I'll treat her like a Gentleman and be a friend with her.
Though, I don't think you are accusing me of harassing woman, so I'll Not get worked up on this.
Finally, once again, I realized my belief is NOT a popular one here, so I guess the smart thing for me to do is let it go!
Will you let it go as well?

Very simple solution...Ask them if there a rl female before you try to flirt ...?
1)Most honest people will tell you straight up.....2)you can get to know someone a bit while being nice without having to flirt right away.....3) if your seriuosly approaching this GAME (remember this is a video game) with the PURE INTENTIONS of finding romance ....I seriously think your barknig up the wrong tree
1) Well, there are un-honest people too. I met thisgirl on another forum, and she displayed interest in me. We Privated message each other back and forthforlike a week. She also showed me her pics, I mean She ls totally hot. But Guess what in the end, I found outshe wasn't a girl but a guy! ![]()
2) I think I am nice
People who does 1) Actually aren't!
3) I am treating it as a Game but a game has real Social Potentials. Of course, find romance IS NOT the only thing I do in this game
I LOVE every aspect of this game! I love hunting, killing imperials, and building robots, Jam to great music, etc.
This game Truly Rules!
I am JUST trying to get to know people better, but FOR real, not for fake reasons!

My honest reaction to any tell wanting to know if I'm a female in real life is something along the lines of, "Why on Talus would you really care? And why should I tell you?" /ignore idiot.

Well, yeah, that's what I think too.
Since, I obvious won't get any better conclusions by directly asking them...
And, I Totally understand the looks of the avatar in the game does not necessary mean real life person looks the same pretty, I am not That stupid or naive... Please!
I agree that if I truly want to find out they are really who they say they are, I get to know their personalitie, and figure it out,but that's the long way to find out ![]()
I realize that getting to know the personalities is the long hard way to find what you are looking for. But trust me on this, and it's the voice of experience talking, that's the shortest smoothest path without getting hurt or being embarrassed. That's the way to find true and lasting love, instead of a short term relationship where you become vastly disillusioned or seriously hurt.
Don't think about finding your One and Only- think about finding a few good friends. And someday, you'll have one of your friends also become your one and only and you'll both be very happy together. And that friend can come out of a computer game, church group, and organization for which you volunteer, or other hobby.
I met my husband while I volunteered at a Humane Society. Friends first is the best type of relationship there is. I got to know him faults and all, and I love him the more for it. Much better than any jerk that tried to pick me up in a bar. Doing the bar scene, I quickly discovered that anything would be said to me if it would get me into bed. And frankly, that's not what I wanted in a relationship. Hope this helps a little. I certainly expect to encounter mis-representation in the cantina.
Finally, once again, I realized my belief is NOT a popular one here, so I guess the smart thing for me to do is let it go!
Probably the best thing for you to do is to let it go.
**edit** it!!
Dunno if that was a serious comment or not. If so, sorry if I offended.
I didn't mean to "get the last word in", I just figured this would be one of those posts where someone says
A: "That's it! I quit reading this thread! I'm never going to post here again."
B: "Bye, we'll miss you."
A: "I mean it, I'm gone. I'll never write another response!
C: "Ok, see you."
A: "I swear, I'm leaving!"
So I just tried to play along. I never realized when he said "I'll just leave it" that he actually would.

Are you trying to say we're not a real species? My Zabrak brethren would be highly disappointed that you refuse to recognize them.

Look. I never really meant to start a war with you guys, I just didn't like the thing.
And yes, I am OLD enough to play this game.
I am trying to be REAL in social meetings, that's all!
No need for you to get RUDE
I may not like this idea, but if you guys think I am a Minority, then I'll back away on this issue.
Okay, the first thing I should point out is that you aren't the only person this is aimed at. There was also a similar post in the Dancer forum, which was actually much more irritating than your's, primarily because he wrote an entire paragraph on the subject without the use of a single comma or period. The second thing I should point out is that there actually is ONE game that I know of that constrains what gender you can play based upon the gender you registered yourself as, and even in that game, there's nothing stopping some fat hairy guy in Alaska from registering himself as female. It's impossible to accurately register someone's gender. And for being "real" with the dancers you meet, just keep in mind that anyone you meet on SWG, in addition to being a man playing a woman, could also be underaged or old enough to be your mom (or grandmother). If you are indeed uninterested in cyber, then the best thing for you to do is just not think about what all those other people "really" are. It's impossible to tell, impossible to enforce, and if there was a way to enforce it, it would be horribly expensive and/or invasive to one's privacy. Treat every female Rodian you meet as if they are, indeed, a female Rodian. Don't think about if they're a 13 year old Moutain Dew addict or a nice sensitive college co-ed who loves poetry and walking her dog.
