If everyone in the cantina you frequent seems to be an afk macroer change cantinas it will make your life easier.

Excellent advice.

The cantina I have been playing in for the first 2 weeks of my character's existence has been leaning more and more heavily in the AFK Macro direction. People who used never to leave their keyboard seem to be AFK more often than not now. Maybe they are bored; maybe they have other things to do this week. Hard to know. But I will say the last couple of days I have been making zero progress toward Dance IV, stuck at about the halfway point, because it was just no fun to be in the cantina -- me and 7 AFKMers does not make a nice troupe.

So I started doing some surveying/crafting, which is what my PC's second skill set will eventually be (hopefully dipping into tailoring). I want to have her make her own Fizzzes but that needs wood and there wasn't much around my normal city on Naboo. So, I took a shuttle to Keren -- first time I've ever been there. The shuttle was right near the cantina. For hoots since I had never been in it, I wandered in, intending to just see what it was like and then split. I found a tiny group of 2 musicians and 1 dancer, and... *gasp* they were all active and RPing! I asked to join them and, instead of spending the next 2 hours surveying as I had intended, I spent it RPing with them and dancing and having a ball. I ended up spending several more hours later in the night with them and got right up and finished dance IV without even noticing until the sound alerted me.

Since nobody there could teach me Dance IV I went back to my old hangout, and found an expert there to teach it to me. There was a group of about 13 performers there, and I joined them briefly, but again.. 3/4 of them were AFK and nobody was really RPing. So after about half an hour I bowed out and went back to Keren. Again there were only a couple of people there but everyone RPed the whole time. I had a blast.

Know the fun part? The guys in Keren don't even know how to AFK Macro! :-) They said things like, "I've heard you can do that," or "I need to learn that for better song flourishes." But they don't even know how to do it.

Ah, the innocence... :-)

Chessack, that's exactly what I've been seeing. The big cities like Theed and Coronet are good onlyfor xp and training (with a few notable exceptional performers, who've probably moved on themselves), but now that I've hit ME and MM, I'll probablynever go there unless I'm invited by a friend. I'm focusing on some chef grinding for a few days, but once I get a few ranks in cooking and mixology, some supplies to last me a while(includinga few thousand more credits), I'm taking a grand tour of the galaxy. Every city/outpost on every planet, at least an hour or two (possibly a whole evening)at each stop. And I'm going to stay in character if it kills me.

So if anyone is on Chilastra next week, and you see a little Bothan jamming away with his faithful droid Keg, have a seat and enjoy the show anda drink on me. All requests will be honored.

Whilst there are a lot of Macro users out there I never use macros unless I have to go afk for a few mins because I find it incredibley unprofessional.

Uh. This is a game. Should anyone bother being in awe of someone else's ability to play the game and achieve a title?

I don't really think so.

I'll respect someone who hits Master Jedi since, based on my understanding of the profession, that's going to be something like being a mouse navigating its way through a stadium full of hungry cats. Someone who can play that profession well enough not to get perma'd AND get the title -- I'm willing to respect that. Someone who:

1) shoots enough mobs

2) crafts enough items

3) mashes a bunch of flourish keys

Hasn't particularly achieved anything skillful in my opinion. Myself included.

I will say this.. the master entertain/musician/dancer who can use music and flourishes and instrument variety to craft a unique song or dance routine that's visually or aurally appealing... that's someone I will respect.. and I don't care if they've figured it out as a novice with SW1 or as a Master with Virtuoso. That's the skill the game isn't going to teach you, no matter how many keys you mash while at the computer or away from it.
