In order to keep this professions fair and worthwhile, please start setting cover charges for your dancing/playing. If you are strictly an entertainer for your own guild, then please dance/play in a private building that you only give access to guild members. Even if you are still grinding the profession and just standing in Bestine or Coronet, whatever, PLEASE CHARGE. We need to keep this economy the way it should be (more credits in your pants). CYA!!

Fair for whom? Is it fair that some crafters make better weapons or armor and can thus charge higher prices? Is it fair that some entertainers don't entertain at all and use a game mechanic that still allows them to be paid for not playing the game?

Regardless, I have never and will never use Covercharge for my characters, nor will I pay one.

My biggest tips have come after someone said, "How much do you charge?" for a buff, a heal, an ID session, and I say, "No charge." They usually give a huge tip after that.... The other night I did an ID of someone... tatoos and hair color. I didn't ask for any money. Had I asked, it would've been maybe, *maybe* 5k (it didn't take that long and it was kind of fun). He tipped me 30k.

The real world works this way too ya know. I was in Montreal last week. I ate out every meal. I'm a decent tipper... 20-25% depending on how the round-off works (I try to round up to the nearest whole dollar just to make it easier for myself). But one restaurant, on the bill they charged me a flat rate (15% I think it was) for "service" -- meaning they forced a 15% tip out of me. Well this was way less than I would've tipped ($2.38 or something when I would've rounded up to $4.00 on that particular meal), but I just let it go. If they are going to TELL me what to tip them, I figure, then why should I tip more? So the waitress lost money on me... and potentially on many other customers as well. Now admittedly this was just a cheap lunch so it wasn't a lot, but imagine if I had been hosting a dinner party at that restaurant... We could potentially be talking about a lot of money that I would've tipped, but not if they force a "service" fee out of me.

See... you're better off just being nice than asking for tips. If you're nice and don't ask for money, people are more generous... at least that is what I have found.

I'll never charge for entertaining. I will welcome all tips. Besides, this isn't my main source of income. I have a character with all the entertainer professions simply because i get a kick out of them. And since space mining was put into the game i can earn a lot more money that way much more steadily.

Why yes, you were! And every time I saw you! I didn't wear pants. Except when I ran around in my jammies.
