Pickles, you're my hero. You always have just the right amount oftact (or lack thereof) for the post in question. Cheers for saying what I'd like to say if I could just stop scowling at the monitor long enough to say it.

*** Thnx for making one of the richest profession in the game one than no one wants to have businness with ***

Rich?? Where?? Where??

I am one of those AFK entertainers.
You are welcome.
I live in Moena, and am usually the only Entertainer there late at night. I even sometimes leave her running all night. I don't AFK more than 1/2 of the time. I do get better tips if I am there, but later at night there is nobody to chat with anyway.
So, crab and moan all you want. Macros are legal and part of the game. Until they take them out (and they never will), people will use them. I use a loop macro even when I am there. It is a pain to sit there and keep hitting F-Keys all of the time.
I play a bit, I go feed the Dogs, I play a bit, I go Eat Dinner, I play a bit, I go Woodwork.
Etc Etc.

"and STOP COMPLAINING about AFK'ers....if it werent for them..u would not have a mind healer at 3am in the morning..after you die..deal with it"

I'm going to lobby for fully automated combat types. The macros need to be smart enough to go out, hunt, rack up all kinds of mind wounds and battle fatigue, and then walk into the nearest cantina and watch/listen so we entertainers who play off hours don't have to actually try to find the healing experience we need.

I'd also like an AFK medic that I could pick up in town, put them in my group and their macro would just heal me all night long when I hunt. That would be sooo cool.

The old days were no picnic either, remember. We still got no tips (well, unless you were a half-naked female), all the male entertainers had their sexual preference constantly called into question, and some people even had the audacity to demand payment FROM us because they were "giving" us xp :/

For weeks after live all of us Moenia entertainers could not afford to advance any higher. Someone got a tip that a dancer and a musician in Theed had the next skill level, so me and a dancer spent our last bit of money on round trip tickets to go get that skill.

Granted we didn't have as many afkers around, but please do not say the old days were great..they are a nightmare that I'd care not to relive.

i'm using this one but there were many with similar responses...

i am just wondering if you truely remember the old days... the old days to me were this:

friends: would make 5-10new/ day and see 10-20 at any given time in the cantina

money: 40k/hr in tipsor more period (pre-buff ability)

fun: extreemly... i always looked forward to going to the cantina

content: we always made our own for us and the customers as our class was intended and between the two... there was always tons

respect: each of the main npc cantina's had its own reputation ie: coronet was known for the corrillian corvettes, eisly for fuzzy logic, bestine for the awi weu experiance and ffwb, theed for (no name at the time) XXXguild, kadara for muria and gang.... the list goes on but you get the idea... can you honestly say that is the case now or is it just known that theed, coronet and bestine will always have afk bands....

40k an hour in tips? What planet were you on? On Naboo if we got a 100 credit tip we would give it to the main trainer so she could give it to the person who just got a level. 40k/hour..Holy Tunare...I do not think any Entertainer on Naboo got nearly that level then or now.

Back in the day I did make a substantial amount of money. But it wasn't from tips. I made about 50k a week personally with my band Eternal Heart. And that's after splitting the fees with the whole band, buying new outfits, paying transport costs, etc.

It was a lot of work and I think that's why we all stopped doing it, but the money was rolling in, and we started up about the second week of July and started making large bank almost immediatly. To the point that the last week we played, we had 4 gigs and everyone in the band that came was getting individual tips of 10k at each gig personally, on top of the gig fees we charged.

That was back in the day, and we weren't making cash in the cantinas.

I just came back to the game yesterday. I left after it had been released for two months. At that time I was a marksman and was often in the cantinas to get healed. The way the "old days" were was that entertainers were CONSTANTLY complaining about not getting tips and that there were always broke. As a marksman I was happy to tip but couldn't figure out how much would be fair, when I asked I was always told "anythign is appreciated" so I came up with my own idea of 10%. That's the "old days" for the first two months of the game.

I'm not an entertainer, but I certainly do business with the nice half of the entertainer populace.

Today it was all trade deals: aset of action & action secondary buffs for the band leader at a 1k discount, for a spot in the bad for the only at-keyboard dancer I could find. The dancer, in turn, gave me a mind buff in trade for an action & secondary buff set. 5 minutes later, I tipped the dancer the full 2k for a friend's mind buff, and my friend did a disease for the dancer's friend for free.

...free trade all around. Benefits all around. A little smile, and a lot of free-flowing cash (from my end).

Customers don't do business with people who make it unpleasant, so quit whining and *respond* if you're so at-the-keyboard.

If this is the worst you have to complain about mate, you have it good. I too am "holo-grinding" and I do it afk...I.E. late at night/during the day when it is usually impossible to find an entertainer. I check my cash levels after every afk session and make sure that the tips I get go out to the real entertainers...whether they were there with me during the AFKness or not. If anything this grind has made me appreciate what a pain in the arse the entertainer professions really are. Also it has made me appreciate how much in tips that they DONT get. in the evenings I will still be grinding away atk conversing with some very nice and interesting people who are grouped with me entertaining the cantina. I greet/chat witheveryone that walks in and I still make feckall in tips. If you have some specific issue then by all means bring it up. Till then these "U R diluting my prof j00 n00b!" threads are a sign of immaturity, and a probably fatal lack of mental ability.

I've been trying to stay out of these threads, since the issue is usually a cause for what deveolves into flaming and name calling. Certainly this thread isn't a good example, as it started with flaming and name calling.

However, I would like to point out that what is a game breaking issue is different to everyone. To some entertainers, the fact that everything the profession does is being done by what are effectively NPCs is a game breaking issue. Many have left over that very thing.

If you want to have a better understanding of why, a couple weeks ago I wrote a post to addres this without flaming or finger pointing.

I am, however, happy to hear you are learning a new respect for entertainers. Even if the whole holocron system is a horrible thing, it is nice to see that occasionally, the spirit of the intent of mastering multiple professions still comes through, and people learn what it is like to walk a mile in someone elses shoes.
