This from the guy who thinks entertainers don't make money because they both are and aren't jerks. Maybe instead of spending time to insult me you should spend it in some grade schoolimproving upon your obviously lacking logical thinking abilities.

Anyway, besides JasonK, you can make money as an entertainer. It isn't boring, it can be fun! And you can get rich if you realize this!

I just got lucky personally. I'm surrounded by great people in my server, made a funny charachter and people see that I enjoy the class. The rest just fell into place. At this stage in the game, my band is the most well known on the server and so we get ton's of gig requests which have always paid the best.
! Because believe it or not, I actually think you and I are on the same page here. So tell me this: How can an entertainer get credits when BF healing, mind wound healing, and buffs can be given freely by AFKers? Obviously its something, because I know that after a day at the cantina I come home with a lot of tips, and I must be doing something right in order to do it. Other entertainers may not get a lot of tips, so something they are or are not doing must be the reason for it. So please, tell us what makes the difference? I'm serious here, becauseI think newentertainers need to know what I (and I think you) already know.
Here's what I think. They don't really care about not making money but it's a convenient excuse for AFK hating, even though you're walking, talking proof AFKers don't hamper your fun or profits. Or they're too stupid to follow the examples set forth by those of you who are successful in the field. Probably a combo of both, stupidity and AFK hating. It's like peanut butter and jelly, they just seem to go well together.
Okay, I think that maybe I should explain it. You see, I think that we as a profession needs to understand that while JasonK may have a different way of putting it than I may, he and I are essentially correct that it is the effort that goes into entertaining that makes the difference. JASONK IS SPOT ON! He may not be the most...accomodating person on these boards, but the message is clear, you MUST put in the effort to make things work. And this was true before the holocrons, true during the holocrons, and will be true once the holocrons are replaced by quests. And quite frankly, whether or not SOE allows entertainers to go AFK or not will not change the basics of the profession. And the basics of the profession are: attentiveness, wit, humor, and proper use of your tools.
Now keep in mind that I have never botted my character, or went AFK while providing service. I imagine I could do so rather easily, but I won't. Rest assured I was at my patrons for every flourish, every emote, and every piece of dialouge. JasonK does not. He bots his character and/or sees nothing wrong with AFK entertainers (but I certainly hope you don't tip them dear). Yet, weboth essentially agree on the same point,and that isthat just as AFK entertainers do not do anything that is worthy of a tip, most live entertainers who are having trouble getting tips do not do the kind of things that make them worthy of a tip either.
Because I tell you, even before holocrons came about, many live entertainers did not work very hard. Sure, they /flourished and did the dancing and music, but they were more than likely talking in groupchat all day, or busying themselves with other things instead of ATTENDING TO THE PATRONS. Believe me, I was there to hear the chatter. And live players started spamming macroed commands too, like "/tip me" or "heal me." I was even guilty of it at times, until I discovered that such things cheapen my performance. For all intents and purposes, those playing entertainment careers WERE bots, or at least seemed like them, demanding tips and XP from patrons they could give a hoot about.
So let me ask you a question, if the ability to AFK were taken away tomorrow, would your tips increase? Would your respect on the servers increase? Would the incentive to do the job increase? They wouldn't. Because unless you are willing and able to find new and better waysof amusing the patrons, your tips, respect, and incentives will simply go to those that do. Because you HAVE to understand that one entertainer can service an entire cantina, and can buff up to twenty players, and does not need resources to do it. And that players will naturally get service and tip those entertainers who work hard at being amusing. I do. Can you?
Because if you can't, you aren't going to go very far as an entertainer, ESPECIALLY with unattended entertainers running around. But I'll tell you something else, what I, SweatyClimber, Tiaga, or Sultrina do can be done by anyone, and the more you do it, the better you get at it. But you have to work at it. You have to give the other players in the game something more than BF, mind wound healing, and buffs.

Your logical abilities are just fine. I have no doubt that you're one of the best entertainers out there and that others would do well to follow the tips you've laid out. The problem I have is, many people blame the system (ie AFKers)for all their problems, yet people like you can work within the system just fine. If you can make a killing and have loads of fun in the Coronet cantina then the problem must lie in the people who can't do that. The sooner the rest of the entertainers realize the problems theyhave are within themselves the better off they'll be.
I'm here to further my own self interests. I like to AFK andI like the convenience of getting the services of other AFKers. If some people here want to use retarded anti-AFK logic I will call them on it. If that makes me a troll I couldn't care less since the people who call me a troll are the same ones I smacked down for being stupid.
