Thread: Entertainment for the aspiring Jedi
I look at this way: I didn't take up smuggler because I wanted to open containers, I took it up because I wanted to slice armor and weapons, but I had to do containers to get there. Ditto in this case. After a few days of entertaining, I'm pretty sure I don't want to make this my preferred playstyle, but I'm glad the holocron sent me this way--I've met lots of nice people and I've tried a part of the game I honestly never would have otherwise. Thanks again.
Great!
But I have one correction: there is a workaround for makinga person bald again, once you have given them hair.
Some would call it an exploit, but sincewe are supposed to be able to make people bald anyway, it's a workaround. ID has a few bugs, and this is one of them:
1) give them a haircut, but have them close the "accept/refuse" window by hitting the X in the upper right corner
2) give them a haircut again. Have them hit "accept."
3) there will now be a wig in thier inventory. Have them delete it.
Wala! Baldness!

make a macro with that. Name it dump it in your hotkey.
Find someone willing to get spammed and that can click fast..
target them and hit that marco as fast as you can till your mind runs out.
I hope I am not being too presumptuos in adding to this thread - but something I encountered that I thought will be helpful.
I have heard from many musicians and entertainers that they get thoroughly sick of StarWars1, and there is an easy way to quickly get by that, and the next few levels - something artisans are quite used to...
Grind out slitherhorns in practice mode. It takes less materials than many items you make as a doctor, artisan, and much, much fewer than a Droid Engineer and Architect. It is only 45 metal - 2 clicks - and is 90xp per (not counting practice mode). You can macro four easily - so in less than a few minutes - you are already beyond Star Wars 1.
Note - this is not a perfect solution. You need entertainer healing XP - but it can quickly get you to more advanced songs/instruments (more XP/tick) and will enable the entertainers to pla7y a more varied selection.
I meant to try it with more advanced instruments to see if the XP scaled - but had to surrender Artisan.
Orin Scrivello, Master Doctor and the rest subject to change at the Holocron's whim, The Haven, Radiant
Slick, why are you so worried about others? People have the freedom to do as they wish. This means you dont have the right to deligate what people do. If they want to spam for tips or macro while afk in the middle of the dance floor, let them.

I'm sorry, I won't be pulled into an argument about whether personal freedom is more important than courtesy to your fellow performers. We ALL pay our $15 a month to play the game. It's a community, not a playground where each individual should be able to do whatever he pleases because he's paying for it.
I trust that most holocron chasers understand why courtesy is important when "passing through" some other profession's community. I'm not in the business of policing other people's behavior. I merely request that they consider their fellow players game as they play theirs.
Can someone explaing how you ID on yourself.
I target myself /image. but none of the boxes are highlighted. I can't select any of them
Im a wookie if that matters.
I've never worked on a wookie, so I don't have any direct experience. I'd presume, though, that there are fewer options for wookies and that they are more advanced up the skill tree than most others. I know that I was never able to set wookie fur color, for instance. If you're a wookie going for ID or ME then you're probably going to have to get a partner for the whole thing.
You get more XP for working on other people anyway. When I was grinding out my last box of musician I let a holocron-chasing ME do his ID on me while I played. He finished the entire novice entertainer ID 1-4 line in about two hours with me training him and buffing him periodically.
Awesome post, Slick.
Just like the smuggler who posted earlier today, I have no desire whatsoever to interfere with people who actually enjoy the profession, and I figure if they're helping me to get through a profession that I'm not particularly interested in, I owe them all the courtesy I can possibly show. Oh, and for the record, I only actually AFK when I go to sleep or work; otherwise, I'm just as bored as can be, sitting in front of the PC, talking to anyone who wants to chat.
And yes, I also agree with the other poster who stated that you have no right to tell people how to play the game, but... If I were inSlick's shoes, I'd quitely like kick the uncooperative, rude s.o.b. out of my group and warn others about him as well. People tend to forget that we needyour help to get through this profession ASAP, and although I can do it without you, it wouldlikely take about 10-20 times longer. Oh, and if I could AFK macro in my own house and level just as quickly, I sure as heck wouldn't be bugging you guys.
So... the choice seems to be, be polite, friendly, and cooperative, and give up a few concessions (like dancing on the edge of the group is a significant concession?) andwe won't be doing this for the next three months. Or... be a selfish bozo who doesn't care about anyone else and find yourself doing this well into 2004.
To target your self and do ID, press ctrl and the number 1, so its ctrl + 1
the exp sucks, but better then nothing
Thanks for the thread, I personally agree that even while grinding away at a skill, there is more to it than just your own experience to think about, there are others around you who are affected by what you do, whatever that may be.
To target yourself in a macro it's:
/ui action targetSelf;
Anyone have any options to macro other than hair_color 01; and eyeshadow 01;
eye_color 01; ? more? thats all i have...

Many thanks for this thread. As someone who does want to get in and out of your way as fast as possible, I have what might be a really stupid question
. If you are not flourishing, do you get ANY xp? It didn't seem like I was last night when I was playing around with it. Also, so that I understand... for maximum efficiency, you want people watching you to cheer or clap once every 10 seconds since that is a "tick" of xp?
Thanks,
Ani

You only get dance/music XP when you flourish, yes. However, there is a "decay" built into the system, so that you can flourish once and you'll receive diminishing amounts of XP each tick until you flourish again or your XP decays down to zero. In some situations the best way to conserve action is to flourish, pause through 3-4 ticks, then flourish again. If you are "holotaining" and you prefer to not migrate your stats to increase your action pool then this is a valid tactic for extending your dancing time.
For the average purpose, just flourish once a tick for dance and twice per tick for music and you'll get the max XP possible.
As for the clapping and cheering, I don't know of anyone who's ever measured the effect. It's unknown whether multiple cheers per tick (from the same toon) generate a bigger bonus than one cheer per tick.
