Thread: Please fix the exotic line of dances

The exotic dance line which is the reward for achieving dancing mastery is horribly underdevelped. Not only does it have only 3 original flouriishes out of 8in each to the four types of dances (plus one older flourish which ris epeated 5 times) but of those three flourishes only 2 are functional. The other is either broken or mayas far asI know require buffs to achieve. Is this some kind of cruel joke. The animation on the flupped flourish is extremely spastic looking So the "crowning achievement" of the dancer line has little or no variety and can make the master dancerslook like noobs. And I noticed that in the upcoming big patch the only additional flourishes are been given to the lowest line of dances. So please tell my why this isn't being addressed. It seems very unfair to all of us who grinded itout tobecome master dancers quickly. This is no small problem. Its an embarrassment to the profession.

This may have beencoveredin an earlier thread but i couldn't find it.

Jay, Agreed 1,000%! Not only do we only get 2 flourishes for all those hours of work, but we still fall down just as much as when we were novices

I have a feeling, however, based on what's being promised with the coming "big patch", that we will gradually see more stuff added. Hopefully the crude-looking animations that are on Test Server are not the finished product -- if they are I may not keep my Master Dancer much longer. And that's going to really be upsetting.

Thanks for the support dear. I have a feeling that his forum is mainly frequented by musicians because there isn't a master dancer on any server who would disagree with us and chime in. We need toraise a stink. Which forum do you believe is the best for this? I'm very mad about this. By the way, I'm on Chilastra too. I believe we've met.

In this case I would suggest looking toward the Dancer forums where its been discussed often. Your also more likely to get a response there since this is a Dancer Profession issue. Just a thought, I hope it helps. Not trying to be rude, hope you don't take it that way. Just trying to help you direct your issues to the right audience so you can get a better response.

As Ravenmist suggests, the Dancer forum would be ideal. And there, you get the full attention of Ravenmist as our Dancer correspondent

Yes, I've seen you around Tempest Point I believe! I have a house there which I named "Sin's Delight". Someone last night wondered if it was a brothel, and after falling over laughing I had to point out that it's just a spin off my nickname

I feel very strongly about this, but I will try to refrain from ranting. The fact is that the reward for getting to the highest level of dance is sadly deficient. The exotic line of dance contains only two workable original flourishes. A third new flourish is an utter embarrassment to profession. Its undoable and the animation of the flub goes on forever and includes two failed attempt to achieve this move. In addition in groups attempting to band flo the exotic line, very often this spastic move pops up in one of the dancers while the rest of the girls have successfully performed another entirely different move together. "So that awkward dancer up there must be the rookie", everyone watching must think.

Sothere you area female dancer dancing infront of often several males, displaying proudly the title of Master Dancer and with one missed keystroke you look like an utter beginner. I really can't fathom whythis wasallowed to get in the game. Many of us Master Dancers have worked hard to achieve this level of distinction and therefore separated ourselves from others of our professiononly tofind that ourreward is a joke. The fourth flourish is from an earlier line that just doesn't match up with the style or pacing of exotic dance. I am fairly satisfied with the two workable flourishes but after performing this dance for any length of time these three movements start to get real old and the dance becomes boring and repetitive.

And now the final insult crops up. They are choosing apparently to fix only the most fundamental of dances and not the exotic line in the next big patch. This feelsa bit to me like telling the first few finishersof a marathon run to wait for the stragglersto come in because its not fair to them that they don't get metals too. By the time the exotic line of dance is properly fixedeveryone and their mothers will have exotic dance. Its hard enough to achieve distinction in a crowded cantina with dozens of dancers without some originality in your dancing style. And I know its more about your personality and charm then your dancing skills. And I know that many of the earlier dances can be quite effective in drawlng attention. But none of those tools in ones toolkit are related to the rewardsthatthe developershave given to dancers for their long days and nights of effort on the dance floor. Heck I would be writing this thread if the top four dances were square dances or polkas. So even if you don't use exotic dance you should be concerned about this development. Wake up SWG developers please.

High level dancers please chime in on this. I don't see how any of us could disaggree with this but i'm sure there will be some. <sigh> If you do agree then spam this thread with your righteous indignation. Itsthe only way I can see that we will correct this injustice. I'm sure this must have been dealt with in earlier threads but even so it needs to be hammered home again.

Oops, I guess I did rant a bit. Sowwy.

Jaysy10,

Don't feel too bad about this, from what i have seen of the new dance flo's on the Test server this is the least of our worries, the new flo animations are absolutely atrocious.

How these new dance flo animations got passed QC is beyond me.

And i thought that the footloose dance was a spastic looking thing WOW look out!

I would have to agree with you - It seems also that with the higher title of Master Dancer or any of the upper skills of this thread, you would not jerk in between flourishes and make a smoothe transition into the next one. SWG needs to change the flow into the next dance step (per dance) and give us more flourishes that would go along with the dance we do. ie: Exotic (make ALL the flourishes EXOTIC) and give us more of a selection of flourishes to perform within each dance.

Think of Exotic2/Exotic3/Exotic4 together as one dance-style with 6 flourishes that you can work together. Create the following series of macro's and use them to build your own routine...

/changedance exotic2;/flo 1

/changedance exotic2;/flo 3

/changedance exotic3;/flo 1

/changedance exotic3;/flo 3

/changedance exotic4;/flo 1

/changedance exotic4;/flo 3

I would *love* to have more exotic flourishs but it's not as bad as you make it out.

Thanks for the work around idea. Having to combine three dances to make up onerespectable performance still doesn't feel to me that the developers have tried very hard to please us.

Personally, I'd like to see all of the dances fixed.

More to your subject regarding Master though, I would rather see NEW dances for master, myself. I prefer Exotic3 and 4 to the earlier, so I am glad I have them, but in a perfect world (at least according to 'dara *smile*), the exotics would be combined into 2 dances, with one granted at dance 4 and the other at master, and there would be something totally new and exciting upon reaching master. Preferably, something that can be danced to fast songs. All of the highest level dances look best when danced to something like Ballad or Ceremonial, and those are played less often than the faster SW2 and such when in public cantinas. Something that is upbeat, and would go with those as well as Jazz would be nice - maybe a swing style or 20s style would be fun.

When you consider the fact that Musicians get Virtuoso, and a new instrument, and we get broken rehashes of two dances that we already had, it is VERY frustrating - I definitely feel your pain.

As some have mentioned though, use /changedance a lot when dancing exotic, and it does help some.
