Thread: Time to /covercharge

The latest publish has made insp buffs a necessity to play the game. Ex: pre pub22, as a Jedi, for killin a bol I got about 1k jedi xp, w/ a 100pnt insp bonus. Now, after the publish, its reversed. I get only 97xp for killing the bol, and a 1066 insp bonus. I'm basicaly getting the exact same amount of xp, but NOW i simply COULDNT grind w/out an insp buff, whereas before it simply helped. Anyway, the point is, I think its def time for all ents to start using their covercharge, and rightfully so. Not only is a 3 hour buff that you simply couldnt get any decent xp w/out worth 10-20k, but its incredibly reasonable seeing as how I would make that money back after only 2 group missions(and I'm only doing it for the xp, so the money is just bonus anyway).

I just want you all to know, that not only would Iunderstand if all ents have a mandatory charge now that your buff is a must have necessity, but support it fully. I'm happy for all ents that you have now been given a role that combat proffs simply CANT live w/out, instead of just making it a little easier to get xp, and its only fair that you bennifit from it. Cheers!

Honestly, I don't know if this is to poke fun at us or to try to convince us to do something we don't like?

None of us use covercharge. No reason to as long as there are AFK bots charging nothing.

This is on test server? It's not in any of the "in testing" notes.

I'd bug report that, honestly. I can't imagine that the devs would intentionally lower everyone's XP and force them to go to an entertainer to get the "real" XP they're entitled to. The kind of numbers you're quoting would assure that we had the macro-bot problem back again, only ten-fold because every PA in the galaxy would want a couple of bots around to service their members. You could play with battle fatigue if you wanted but this change would literally make people feel like they were being "robbed" of XP.

No, those numbers in my OP came from live, which pub 22 is on now. And I dont see it as people being "robbed" of xp, I see it as the Devs trying to give the ent proffession a more prominant role, which I have no problem with.

Why do you keep spamming all the entertainer forums?

If your figures are correct, it is bugged. Please report it as such.

This is precisely why combatters made buff bot alts. Do you seriously think we want to go there again?

Just use your favorite bot who's free, and leave us alone.

We can do nothing about xp changes, and trust me - I'm not any happier than you are that Inspiration buffs will be required. It will create, once again, a nightmarish AFK zombie fest of bots who spam incessantly, and who most every combat player adores and loves, until they create one of their own.

God help us all.

Esharra, the point is, we HAVE gone there again, bug or not. This should NOT have ended up happening in Live, and I fully expect it to be dealt with swiftly, I will not stand for, nor tolerate, yet another influx of bots into our profession.

If it's a bug, it's needs hotfixing ASAP. If it's not, well....I'll hold off on any decisions until I hear further on the subject.

I refuse to be "required" by combatants again, and I refuse to see these professions destroyed by bots again, even for a little while.

Please have the Devs fix this immediately, or state as such to the community through you Corrs, or directly to us.

I will not go through this hell again.

Chances are they just broke the xp display message, and it wouldn't be the first time.

I suggest you test this with and without inspiration buffs and take a note of how many xp you gain in both cases via your skill window (CTRL+S) - don't trust the system message. No need to start a panic about this before it's confirmed. I don't know where this sudden bout of optimism comes from, but somehow I think, despite all past experiences to the contrary, that SOE couldn't be so daft as to implement such a major xp change without a) putting it on TC first, and b) mentioning it in the Patch Notes.

Is this an actual change to the distribution of XP, or just an error in the message? Has anybody tested that? I suppose I'll do it myself at some point ... and things could get REALLY strange for pilots dropping squadrons, depending on how the previous fix worked.

That's what I'm thinking too. But I'm loading in with a couple of combatters to get some numbers.
