Not sure if this one's been mentioned before, but...

Entertainers could use roving droid assistance much like medics. It could take the form of a module or a completely new type of droid. (Or possible put the Protocol droids to work at last..)

Just a though while I'm waiting for my server to come back up.

This isnt such a way out idea :-)

Believe it or not in the old Star Wars roleplay source material on Tatooine there was a demolition droid (the green dome thing you see the Jawas trying to 'herd' around when 3PO and R2 get sold to Owen Lars) that had been reprogrammed to act as an entertainment droid!

'She' (yes it had a female personality) was programmed to do a laser light show (using lasers mounted on her chassis) in time to music she played (again added amplification system) and play Sabac with the patrons where she worked

Its this kind of radical adaptation/jury-riging/re-design that master droid engineers should be able to do with any chassis (such as fitting medical modules to an MSE!!!!)

I also seem to remember R2D2 serving drinks in Jabba's floating barge before they tried to drop Luke into the Sarlac pit...

I'd like to have a droid that could play music in my shop...no actual entertainment value (doesn't heal BF or anything), but just played a little something for my customers...

I've seen the suggestion before. Will make sure to get it onto the centralized issue thread under wishlist.

There's an R2 unit in the cantina in Mos Taike (sp?) with one of those drink-server attachements. He's geometry, though... not one of those roaming droids.

This, like the slicing idea, needs to be something that enhances entertainers, not replacing them.

As I am sure some of you are aware, in Publish 8 a new droid module aimed specifically at entertainers will become availble, the details of which are as follows:

Entertainer module: Entertainers would get a certification so that only they could use this droid (no combat functionality is added so its different that the combat certs). This module would allow an entertainer to queue one of 10 different new effects (smoke, lighting, etc.) The advantage is that the droid won't consume entertainers HAM (just batteries). Each module will represent a different effect. So with 10 different effects, there will be 10 Entertainer modules which means the higher level droids with more module slots will be more useful for queuing different effects.

As a Droid Engineer I'm quite interested to know if there will be any interest at all from the entertainer community? If I'm reading this correctly it appears each effect takes a different module. As a "very" rough estimate you could expect tp pay around 50-60k for an R3 Advanced droid with maybe 6 entertainer modules. That sound a lot of creds to have to fork out for what I gather is one of the poorest professions. There will of course be cheaper alternatives, but they will certainly contain fewer modules (and therefore fewer available effects). I'm genuinley interested in the thoughts and comments of the entertainer community on this.

>a new droid module aimed specifically at entertainers

The entertainers have never asked for droid support. The entertainers have never asked for a functionalty like the one presented by the new droid modules. The entertainer have, however, asked for fixes to their profession. They went unnoticed, dancers haven't even got their top ten answered. I mean, when was that ? Back before christmas I think.

So this droids aren't aimed at entertainers. It's aimed at the droid engineers so they have something to produce. I just wish they had made it something cool and worthwhile, DEs sure deserve it. The droid invasion isn't meant to be 20 effects spamming afk-entertainers in the Theed cantina.

Also, while I would pay 100K for a nice droid, I would not power it with batteries that at the current price would cost more than I get in tips. Entertainment is a poor profession, always has been. If people pay, they pay for game mechanics like wound healing and buffs, and in terms of game mechanics, those droids are worthless waste of batteries. I'd waste batteries on something I like any day, but I already have effect for free...

Sorry for sounding negative, but after getting ignored for such a long time, some of us get bitter. I think you DEs will understand all too well

Well there are going to be 10 entertainer modules but the best droid can only hold 6. It won't do anything for me as far as fixing or enhancing anything that is important to me as an entertainer. And it will cost a lot of credits and won't do anything that will help me reoup it's cost.

If someone wanted to give me one I wouldn't turn it down but I won't be buying one. This is just another example of the fact that the DEVs aren't able to really fix anything so they just throw something new into the game to divert attention from their failings.

Well,

it appears that I'm the oddball here. I want to buy one to see how I can spice up my act even more - if not, then I'd at least tried.

You know I been thinking.

With last patch (7), camps are no longer needed to pull droids or vehicles, which cause quite number of people to drop scout and no one seem to use camp much except to let entertainer heal.

With new mind buffing food, the number of people who want to spend time finding the right entertainer then wait 8 - 16 min to get fully buffed by dancer and/or musician are kinda droppen.

With Jedi system change, my best guess is hologrinding entertainers would go poof, further decreasing number of entertainers which would lead to reduction in people who would come to cantina.

Then with patch 8 when regular stimpacks heal mind pool, whats left of entertainers except for roleplaying and socializing? (which I would grant is the most important reason to be an entertainer but them reasons don't pay the rent)

So with the entertainer droids, I hope we can use them anywhere to heal mind wound as well as BF expecially inside dungeons.

As a Master Musician with some skills in Dance I am less than un-interested in such a product. I'm actively insulted that this is the best the development team could come up for us.

When there's a droid module that will allow for at least the healing of Battle Fatigue outside the structures currently designated for it, I'll be interested. Even that would still be insulting if it didn't also allow for Wound Healing (Dance/Music), considering what medics/doctors are allowed to do with their droids.

But that's all I expect from the developers anymore in regards to the Galactic performing arts -- apathy and neglect at best, insulting patronization at worst.
