Chimaera or Corbantis. I dont know about your servers but on mine, theres two options the deserted cantinas and the overcrowded ones. I try and be funny, i talk to people but they dont care. its a case of walk in run over to the guy behind the huge instrument and run out as soon as you can most people at least where I am care little for the social interaction.

I dont want a second profession, ive got a master bounty hunter and a fencer and all the other stuff combat is down right boring. starting from the ground up again aswell is plain dull. I cant train medic because ive got 1 lousy credit. Im not speaking for myself but I am trying to crafting a pure entertainer character, I dont see why our class should be forced to grind missons just to pay for a service we offer to others.

Im not trying to be advesarial but for low level entertainers at least since the holo craze its hard to make a penny.

I am not sure about either of those servers, but if you want to start a character on Bria, I'd be glad to help you out. Come check it out. This Sunday, we are having our first ever Entertainer Awareness Day

It would be a great way to get a character up on your feet... if your interested

I know this isn't quite the advice your after, but there are always the lame entertainer missions. You'll make a few pennies at them. Very few, it's true, but they can help with training in the early stages.

When I started out, I did the missions just to get a few thousand credits. If you find an entertainment terminal right next to a venue (Tyrena worked well for me, there's a mission terminal located at the cantina, and across the courtyard from a hotel), just refresh the missions until you get 2 at the same location. You'll complete both missions for the same performance, which really is just like one gig that pays a bit better.

Following that, maybe I just did everything right, but I started making great tips right away in the Tyrena cantina while I was on these missions. Not a crowded place, but if you practice your flourish transitionsduring the down times and entertain well when people do come in, I found them to be most appreciative with their wallets that someone was actually there when they needed it. It just takes some patience.

I considered them, 50ish missons might do them! sigh

Perhaps they do tip, I always did. Its just annoying how people bi-pass lower level entertainers so they can get in and out as quick as they can. I went to the novice and apprentice players, always liked to give them a hand. I dont really want to make lots of money just enough so I can train to be a dancer but cant be a dancer unless I have the money but cant make it unless im a dancer!, annoying circle!

Might try a few missons..

Now you know why I call these professions the toughest in the game. Your success or failure depends on you, not your skill boxes or loot. And let me tell you, you can make a living at this thing from day ONE. The first day I was dancing on Bria, I made 7000cred in about 1 1/2 hours. The second day, I made 15,000 cred in about a 2 hour stint. It can be done, but you have to work very VERY hard to impress the patrons. Its not easy to keep constant track of who is entering and leaving, thinking up good things to say, and demanding their attention. Many times, you'll get the grief crew, who doesn't care how hard you work and will insult you. Still, the basics of attentiveness, charm, obserrvation, and in-character play can still earn you tips. You'll get better at it.

Was it in a cantina filled with a bunch of afk holo spammers?

Hopefully when the jedi quest thing comes in it will make life more congenial for novice entertainers

Actually, Coronet. The travellers there are so desperate for something new and interesting, many of them will tip for trying.

I decided to create a new character, a dancer.

Ive been a combat character for ages and was looking for something a little different. So i create the character and level quite quickly but as I approach novice dancer I need money to train. But I have none! Nobody tips it seems! its unbelievable.

The amount of money combat and crafter characters can is massive, I know because I have been one but I always tipped my entertainers.

Its just depressing I may give up my entertainer character.

When the cantinas are no longer choked full of holowhores people may wish they treated proper entertainers better, if they find the cantinas deserted.

I cant be the only one who is sick of Doctors, TKM, riflemen etc leaving without eveninga thanks or a few measely credits. Considering how much money they make it shows the level of maturity of your average swg gamer.

Hold your bargasets,

First, what server do you play on and what is you characters name?

Secondly, you have to realize, you won't get many tips based upon your profession alone, until you start selling buffs, or are the only healer in an out of the way cantina. So you have two options:

One: Request help, from fellow ents. We ents (at least on Bria) are a tight nit group. I would gladly pay for training for a fellow ent. As I am sure many ents would on this board.

Two: Work for your tips. What I mean is, you have to make the customer want to tip you, greet them with a tell when they enter the cantina < /tell soandso Welcome > This not only distinguishes you from the other entertainers, but also shows you are ATK, which is a rare thing these days. Ask them, "How has hunting been?" or a profession revelavent question (ie. "Caught any bounties lately?" to a BH or "How is business going" to any of the Crafting Professions). Don't pester them if they don't want to talk, but I've founf most people are willing to talk if you humor them. Play off faction (ie. "A good rebel/imp is a dead rebel/imp"). Treat them as you would want to be treated, and you'll have not only a tipping customer, but over time a customer who will seek you out, a patron and in some cases a friend. This works especially well in the smaller cantinas. They usually have locals who always come back, and it is easy to develop a cliental.

Well there is my two credits. Hope it helps you out some.

The good ones are out there. Somtimes it's just a numbers game.

Yes, I'd love it if *everyone* tipped... but that's just not the case. I don't know if it's the "maturity level", or just that we're in a day and age where people have become cheap.

In my experience though, the tipping doesn't come from the dancing I do. It comes from the experience I give the patron while I'm dancing... the more fun they have during their cantina stay, the higher (and more frequent) the tips are. Sometimes it's due to being chatty with them, other times because I'll make someone laugh with a general comment.

I think the more fun you have with dancing, the more fun rubs off to your patrons. And the more fun the experience, the more generous people become.

Yes, it can be much harder, and much easier, in the crowded AFK centers... allow me to explain.

It's too easy to get lost in the sea, and never be noticed, let alone tipped. On the other hand, being the lone ATK performer in the sea of AFK zombies means that when that one person comes in looking to reward the live performers, guess who gets that reward? I received several 25k, 50k and even 75k tips that way.

I still recommend the slightly less traveled major cities for new performers though, overall. Look to the non-capitalcities with starports on the starting planets. Tyrena, Moenia, Dearic can be good choices, depending on servers, of course. There will be quiet times, yes... you can use these times to try things without anyone around to poke fun if you botch it really bad.. But when people filter through, which they do, you gain some vital experience in just being entertaining. It's a good environment for it... no noisy clutter and spam, it's easy to keep track of who comes and goes, and to track any conversations going on. People coming into those venues are usually so surprised that anyone is there entertaining at all, that they're glad to see you... which makes for a good, positive learning environment. Players coming into Tyrena cantina when I was starting, for example, didn't care that I was a Novice Entertainer... slow healing was better than none. And many aren't in as big a rush to get out to the next mission in the slower-paced cities, so they're a bit happier to have someone to chat with for a bit before moving back on out.

The last point makes a lot of sense, if you think about it. People in real world overcrowded cities tend to be more uptight than those in more relaxed ones. The crazier the spam, crowded spatial, laggy environment, the crankier people get. They're constantly assaulted by peopleyelling, the sound of blaster fire, swoop sounds rushing past, spatial chatwindows gone berserk, and laaaaaag.Makes for a tense environment. The quieter, more laid back thecities, the more thatpeople have just hadplenty of personal space and solitude, and a friendly chatcan bea lotmore welcome. And it's here that you have a nice, fairly controlled environment to learn how to be charming, witty, funny, responsive... whatever it is that works for you.

Maybe do a few delivery missions from Theed to Moenia and vice versa.

Each run is worth at least 1800 credits. ( 2 delivery mission each 1000cr,
minus the shuttle ticket )

After you buy Novice Dancer, you should be able to get trained by
fellow entertainers, so this is all the money you need to get started.

Add one or 2 more of this runs, and you should be able to buy decent
clothing.
