Thread: Some Advice Please :)

Hi,

I'm slowly making my way up the slicing tree. I wanted to buy a load of Mol Clamps off someone bought they offered to sell me the schematic instead. "Great" I thought, I can make my own. Problem is I can't, the data is in my datapad but not as a draft schematic - just as data. I spoke to someone who told me a factory! Is this true? I just wanted to buy the materials off the bazaar and make the mol clamps with a crafting tool.

Can someone please outline what I need to do to make molecular clamps using this schematic. Money isn't a problem and the helpfile is sketchy at best.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

You need to buy a factory, install the schematic, then insert the correct materials - they need to be the same type as mentioned in the schematic - ie, not just non-ferrous metal, but the specific type of non ferrous metal used to create the schematic. Bung some power in the factory, and away you go! If you have problems finding the exact same resources, buy enough resources for your means, then get another smuggler to make you a schematic using those. Hope this helps

Thanks, I'm finding out more and more as I progress. Like this isn't as straight-forward as I originally thought

Copper was used for the schematic, will any copper work or does have to be the exact type of copper orginally used?

Has to be the exact same type of copper that the guy who made you the schematic used....

When I was still trying to get to Slicing 4, I met an extremely nice smuggler on my server. I would actually take her a sample of the copper that I was going to use (having bought thousands of units to start off with). She would use that to make my schematic, and I would tip her for that service.

Best deal for both of us, and I reached Slicing 4 a lot easier because of it. Now, to be fair, I already had experience using factories, from when I was a Doctor. It was just a matter of buying an equipment factory and doing what I used to do best...

Hmm, I handed over the Copper to the smuggler when he made the schematic and didn't get it back. So I have no way of knowing exactly whatit was. There's a waste of 10K for the schematic and 3K for the Copper

Anyone here on the Chimaera server who can help me setup a factory for mol clamps from start to finish. I'll make it worth your while - say 10K for a new schematic, I'll pay for the resources, and 10K for your time?

Uless you have the creds (or resources) just burning a hole in your pocket, you are going about grinding the most cost-inefficient way possible. I grinded my way up the slicing tree on a shoestring budget, so maybe this doesn't apply to you, but...

I know with clamps you have 100% guaranteed slice, but those clamps cost twice as much to make as a FAN, which only fail maybe twice on every ten slices. That gives you about 900 units of copper to get 10 slices with clamps vs 480 copper for 10 slices (+ 2 failures) with FANs. That may not seem like a huge difference, but it definiitely adds up as you head towards that 50k slicing XP you need at level 4.

What you need is really just about 25k of the cheapest copper you can buy or mine. Then, (if you really want to make crates of stuff, go ahead but...) just get yourself like three crafting tools and spit out a FANs and Survival Knives. Slice the knives and repeat until done.

Using FANs to grind gives you the most efficient bang for your buck (but never use them to slice something you care about). But then again, I never had more than about 20-40k at any one time in my pocket while I was an up-and-coming smuggler.

Thanks Cannae, I'm not short of cash but I'm not into wasting it either! As soon as I get to slicing weapons I'll probably relax. It's just this container and terminal business which is apain.

You betcha. I still have to make myself sit down and grind though to Slicing 4. Always refer people wanting containers sliced to actual novice smugglers. Think about what you went though to get to Slicing 2

It's likely also worth your time to buy yourself a nice little medium harvester with some decent experimentation. You dont need any artisan skills to place it. Just find a willing soul to find a copper supply for you to drop it on. (In this situation you'd have to have power to put into the harv as well as creds...I personally employ a solar generator as well as a medium harvester). My friends are willing to survey for me...but I'm sure if you have no friends you could buy someones time.

Hi All:

I want to do something to help out the entertainers on my server. I want to make up some Entertainer kits to give away, here and there, to help our Dancers and Musicians out. Please have a look and give me some suggestions, I'd appreciate it.

Here's my proposed kit:

-Entertainer Kit (a Cargo Pocket named Entertainer Kit')

  • Contents(20 items): 1 each of the listed items...

-Foods(5 items):

  • Carmelized Pkneb, wound healing boost (dancing)

  • Correlian Ale, wound healing boost (music)

  • T'ssolok, Entertainer Buff Time Reduction

  • Accarragm, Action/Quickness/Stamina Boost

  • Vasarian Brandy, Mind/Focus/Willpower Boost

Equipment(2 items):

  • ENT Droid, MSE Adv (1 Ent Module+ 1 Storage)

  • Swoop

Clothing (13 items in complimentary mix'n'match colors):

  • Long Formal Jacket

  • Shortsleeve Shirt

  • Light Bustier

  • Small Bustier

  • Ribbed Pants

  • Noble Skirt

  • Hot Pants

  • Luxurious Gown

  • Revealing Fleshwrap

  • Uniform Boots

  • Sandals

  • Long Uniform Gloves

  • Emerald Pendant

Also:

  • some holomails with entertainment tips (suggestions please)

  • a nice cash tip to help them out (50K?)

Heya spaceguy!

Ok, I am gonna assume these are being made for newbie ents. Perhaps you should make 2 kinds of kits, one for newbie ents and one for higher level ones, since while your list is very good, there are items in it that are better for newbs and some that are better for we seasoned entertainers.

-Foods(5 items):

  • Carmelized Pkneb, wound healing boost (dancing) - excellent, a food works great and doesn't take away drink tummy room

  • Correlian Ale, wound healing boost (music) - this is good, but most will save that drink tummy room for Accarragm

  • T'ssolok, Entertainer Buff Time Reduction - great for seasoned ents, not newbs, since newbies can't buff until they get the tech tree in the elite profession, and even then, the buff % only starts out at 10% at novice

  • Accarragm, Action/Quickness/Stamina Boost - a VERY much needed thing. There are too many ents who just don't understand the value of a good bottle of Accarragm

  • Vasarian Brandy, Mind/Focus/Willpower Boost - not really needed by ents since our flourishes only eat our action bars, maybe a second bottle of Accarragm?

Equipment(2 items):

  • ENT Droid, MSE Adv (1 Ent Module+ 1 Storage) - I would suggest perhaps +10 storage. Effects droids are notorious for lagging cantinas and most ents need a place to put stuff as opposed to a flashing light, but that's just my opinion.

  • Swoop - oh...be still my beating heart...a swoop.../drool (I love swoops, sorry)

Clothing (13 items in complimentary mix'n'match colors):

  • instead of just that list, maybe a pack for men and a pack for women? Maybe make them even species specific. What happens when you get a novice ent wookiee? What about a twi'lek who would like a headwrap?Trandoshans can't wear shoes or gloves. I love this idea, I really do, cause c'mon, newbie ent clothes are just...yech.

Also:

  • some holomails with entertainment tips (suggestions please)

  • a nice cash tip to help them out (50K?)

Hope this helps!

If you give an Effects Droid to a rookie, make it clear they won't be able to run it until they make Novice Dancer or Musician.

Here's my proposed kit:

-Entertainer Kit (a Cargo Pocket named Entertainer Kit') - Last I checked only loot cargo pockets counted as containers. Crafted ones are only usable as subcomponents for certain tailor combines. Probably would be easier to use a regular backpack...

  • Contents(20 items): 1 each of the listed items...

-Foods(5 items):

  • Carmelized Pkneb, wound healing boost (dancing) - Good thought, unfortunately with things the way they are, esp after the last patch, wounds already heal MUCH faster than BF, so this really doesn't gain them anything...

  • Correlian Ale, wound healing boost (music) - Same as above

  • T'ssolok, Entertainer Buff Time Reduction - Last I heard this was still bugged. Also it's unclear as to whether the entertainer applying the buff should drink this, or the person recieving the buff... From what I've heard tho it doesn't seem to work either way. Also with the last patch this food became somewhat redundant, as ent buff times were halved anyway.

  • Accarragm, Action/Quickness/Stamina Boost

  • Vasarian Brandy, Mind/Focus/Willpower Boost

Equipment(2 items):

  • ENT Droid, MSE Adv (1 Ent Module+ 1 Storage)

  • Swoop - I've always been torn as to what vehicle to give a starting entertainer... Since the maintanence costs on swoops are so much higher than other vehicles, I generally start new players, esp ents, off with something a bit cheaper to maintain, like a speederbike or X34, tho bear in mind everybody gets an X31 these days, which are only 10% slower than the X34...

Clothing (13 items in complimentary mix'n'match colors):

  • Long Formal Jacket

  • Shortsleeve Shirt

  • Light Bustier

  • Small Bustier

  • Ribbed Pants

  • Noble Skirt

  • Hot Pants

  • Luxurious Gown

  • Revealing Fleshwrap

  • Uniform Boots

  • Long Uniform Gloves

  • Emerald Pendant

About the only issue with cloths I can think of is making a male and female version... Going species specific would be a bigger pain in your ass than I'd think it was worth, esp as about the only species that can't wear ANY of the above is wookiees and iths, and wookiees seem to be fond of running around nekid anyway, and if you run across a starting ith ent, you can probably get a special pack made for them. If you want to get really generous, get some of the cloths made with entertainer tissues. Unfortunately they require eggs, which are a pain to find, but you can often find a stack of a couple hundred on the bazaar every so often, buy out a couple of people and you can make a decent size run of tissues. This would give them a permanent bonus to music and dance wound healing, at likely a much cheaper cost than the crates of food. Granted the two would stack but you don't really need that much wound healing. If you want to be really really generous, you can hook up the female ents with exquisite dancers leotards, but these generally run a few hundred k each, unless you can find a bunch of same serial crystaline clothing treatments.
