The Entertainer Group in the Intrepid Coronet Cantina has had an AFK Group Leader on at least two seperate occasions recently. This (non)player runs an auto-invite macro so the entire group is basically AFK.
Needless to say, I have not followed the spammed instructions on how to join the group, not that I need it any more since I got my Intrepid Entertainer her triple-Mastery (Dancer/Entertainer/Musician). It's still a sad thing. The end of the recursive macro cannot come soon enough.
On the up side, my Intrepid Entertainer has built up a loyal following who appreciate the fact that I am an ATK Entertainer and often some of my fans come just to "listen" to me "singing" as I dance.

How bad is it? Well on Corbantis there is an AFK solo-group leader spamming instructions in MO. He tells you where to stand for the invite, etc. Against the cantina is an AFK doc bot instructing people to line up along the wall to be targeted. In the cantina are 3 buff-bots. You can now go to MO and run all your solo-group missions without having to interact with another person. Yep Star Wars Galaxies - the Massively Singleplayer Online first person shooter game.
I've advocated ignoring them and just playing your own game. Well its really getting bad on Corbantis lately. I guess we are finally catching up with some of the other servers. I'm still amazed at how SOE didn't see this as a problem long ago or why this isn't being fixed immediately. Yeah yeah its going away, well thats been 6 months and in that time I've written major new applications with a team of 5 developers. I know they could have fixed this by now if they were really serious. It is getting to the point that if you want to talk to another person you better have a guild because every toon on the friggen streets is AFK.
I know how they can remove AFK easily, just put the blue frogs everywhere and remove all the level and group requirements for pulling the high end missions. Now everyone can build their dream template, get all their buffs, and run all their missions endlessly without bothering those of us that want to actually play the game that was intended.

Honestly, how many people want to sit at their computer screen and dance all day and night for people to get mind buffs. That percentage is extremely small, and what about when u can't find a doc buff.... Go to an afk bot. These bots don't destroy the game. they make it better in my opinion. The day that recursive macros die is the day that mind buffs go as well.

Then say good bye to your mind buffs. I won't even start repeating all the reasons that AFK does destroy the game and particularly certain play styles like ours there are enough posts about it.

I don't want to sit at my computer all day and night and do mind buffs.... but there are other people to buff when I am not available.... I read recently some fun things to do as a guild - one was going on a hunt with no buffs and no armour higher than ubese. GASP - go out into the big world without my buffs and UBER weapon and kill everything in sight... Actually those were my fondest days when I couldn't afford much more than pieced together bone armour that I bought in Coronet Bazaar a laser carbine and a few good friends that sat around laughing till we cried as the dang meatlumps almost sent us to the cleaners for the upteenth time.
If buffers aren't around - go unbuffed - it's a new experience if nothing else

It's funny you bring this up. Because just this past weekend I was at the Dant MO. And, on Kettemoor too, they have an auto invite bot for solo groups. He also tells you where to stand for the invite, etc. I haven't seen it in a Cantina on Kett yet, but I figure it's only a matter of time.
On a related note, three days last week I went into the Cantina and there were something like three small groups of entertainers, all of which had afk leaders. It won't be long before they find out about this invite macro.
Also, there was a buffbot in Theed. THEED! On Kett, the Theed Cantina is sacred. No buffbots. This other dancer and I were trying to politely talk the bot, who happened to be atk at the time, to go elsewhere. At first she said she was staying because even though the two of us were polite, she counted and had 23 nasty emails from other live entertainers.
I have a couple things to say about this:
First, the fact that there were that many angry live entertainers kind of gives one pause. People complain about lack of entertainers. But, apparently in the 24 hours that the bot was up, at least 23 entertainers came into the Cantina and sent her nasty emails. LOL
Second, even though the bots annoy the carp out of me, I think there's something to be said for politely asking a bot to leave. Many are nice people who may not understand the "unwritten rules" of a particular server or cantina. The ones that are unreasonable after the politeness...well, feel free to go on the attack after that's been established.
Anyway, I haven't logged in since that day, but I'm going to have to log in, even briefly, to see if the bot is still there...

Heh - Ki'ara almost never buffs or wears much armor (occasionally a light-weight, low resist Comp 4-piece). Only time I ever bother is if I have a hunting conract to fill coming up on deadline. Then again, she is a Ranger, and Rangers are kind of a strange breed.
Game is WAY more fun like that!!!

Someone....botted....THEED?!
I'll have to log in and see this for myself... that's just not right, Dry. The Chii is most displeased.

Agreed Trenkor - for a hunt 2 weeks ago I had the guild AFLAC go out - max armour you could wear was mabri - no doc buffs - no dancer buffs - no uber weapons - and we went out "hunting" together. It was fun - we needed the combat medic and medics to keep us alive - alot of us were wearing bone armor that a few of the city crafters had thrown together for us. It brought back alot of "fond" memories of times when we used to need 3 or 4 of us together to take out a meatlump on the outskirts of coronet.

Yes, this game seems to really have turned into a singleplayer game when it coems to adventuring, except for the highest mobs. Lol, I remember when I was new and went hunting rontos in a group of 4. Lol, we actually had to use a medic. Nowadays, I just put on the comp armor, get drunk out of my mind (lol) and then just spam AoE's. It was much more fun and exciting when I actually had to rely on other people to survive an adventure in the wilderness.
