1K constitutes a good night for me.

Disclaimers: I'm a male dancer, I avoid NPC cantinas for the most part, my clothing can blind you from across the room, I never ask for tips, I spend way too much time screwing around and not working the room, and probably half of the things I say out loud are designed to make someone blush.

Well, Javy, thankfully you don't charge for doing that or I'd owe you big time!

I have never solicited tips either. Personally, I think its crass . . . One of the first things explained to me as a beginner in the world of the cantinawas that you should never ask for tips. Sometimes I get no tips at all. Other times I come home with a bank roll. It all pretty much evens out in the end, I think. And of course, there's the whole master buff thing going on above and beyond the patron tipper. Let's just say I earn a decent living . ..

I'm a master dancer, but I still play the cantinas. And I should clarify, I OWN whatever cantina I'm working that night. *grin* If I'm not in bouncy-happy-smile-at-customers mood,I don't dance.

General tips are between 500 and 10,000 per client, those who tip. I'd say maybea thirdof the people I heal tip me on a good night. (I don't ask either -- I've always found that somewhat degrading so I won't do it.) So, guess at 3 tips an hour if you want to round down, roughly 10K.

Mind buffs I get tipped between 3K and 10K, most are around 3-4K. I generally do 2-3 of those an hour.

Player events I don't do for less than 5K unless it's a favor to a friend, and generally they are 10K and up. It's the rare time I am firm about charging for my service, rather than working for tips.

Now, I do a lot of other things, so I'd say maybe 3 nights a week, tops, I work the cantina for probably 2-3 hours a night. Sum of averages says that's roughly 50-75K a week.

If you could include what your skill level is, and how much you make from selling mind buffs, this information would be greatly appreciated.

Per day, from tips, not including mind buffs, on average? Nothing. There's the odd occassion of running across someone who's got really horrid fatigue, who is so grateful at the speed I decimate fatigue (I'm a twi'lek on top of being a master musician, so I really tear through fatigue with my racial bonuses) who tips me 10,000 credits. But that happens...oh...once or twice a month?

I've been working on mastering Brawler and Pikeman (pikeman for the little blue cube, brawler to help get that out of the way more easily) lately, and haven't been concentrating on music. But I do leave my Master Musician title up, and am searchable, just to combat the "I can never find a musician!" whine. I've noticed the tips for mind buffs have been going down. A couple weeks ago it was at least 5k, usually more like 10k, sometimes as high as 20k. Now I've gotten two 1k tips for a master musician buff in a day. One wookie called me from my city to an NPC outpost, let me heal him from some truly nasty wounds and fatigue...and left without even compensating me for my travel expenses (he knew I had taken the shuttle). At least I won't ever be inconvenienced by him again, as he's now on my ignore list.

If I really concentrated on music, did nothing but that all day every day, built up even more of a steady patron base than I have and made sure that everyone knew the cantina I'm in was always staffed...probably 100k a day. On average, including mind buffs. That's a guesstimate.

If I were looking for a position as an entertainer in a player city, I would be happy with cantina maintenance covered, a small or medium house to put my things in (dedicated entertainers tend to have a lot of clothes even the guys) and a steady pay of, say...20k per hour spent staffing the cantina? That'd be assuming I'd be expected to heal and buff all the registered citizenry gratis. I think anyone who's a Virtuoso (music techniques line, where buffing is) or higher should be able to expect at least that.Basing it on hours dedicated to staffing the cantina makes it so that if someone has other pursuits, they don't feel obligated to spend every moment of their online time in your city's cantina if they need or want to do other things.

Just a thought.

I am a Master Musician on Starsider. For mind buffs, I would say I average 5k per, and the rate at which I dispense them varies. I have no set fees for anything, being far to whimsical to stick to something like that.

Skill level: Master Dancer, 3/3/4/4 Entertainer, LIVE.

Now, these are just average figures. Do keep in mind that I am one of those exceptional few that can make a better living inside the cantina than outside it. Most dancers do not make as much as I do. I accredit this to playing since June (Master since late September), being on nearly every day, having gotten to know pretty much everyone on the server, posting a lot on my server board(s), and being one of the rare few on my server that is always at the keyboard when performing. I do not charge up front for services, and I leave it up to the player to decide how much I am worth.

Regular service, I get tipped anywhere from 100cred-5k per customer.

Dancing buffs, I get tipped anywhere from 1000cred-100k per customer.

Player events, I get a fee of anywhere from 10k-200k plus tips.

Hope this helps.

I really appreciate all the good info. Our city government is composed entirely of Fighters, Crafters, and Doctors, so this is way outside our area of Expertise, and we are truly clueless on what to offer. From what I have read so far, being an entertainer is like being a crafter, you can barely scrape by until you are almost a master. That has been my impression so far, again correct me If I am wrong. It sounds like we need to look at hiring someone who is a novice entertainer to fit our budget, since apparently skilled Musicians/Dancers can makeexcellent money selling mind buffs. All we expect of this person is to macro away for a day or so. We just need someone there so we dont have to go offworld to get our Battlefatigue healed. We aren't expecting anyone to actually stay there at their keyboard and buff people's minds, though we might consider hiring someone to do that for a rancor hunt. I posted an advertisement on the Valcyn Trade Forum, but I'm not getting many replies, and it occurred to me that perhaps entertainers don't spend alot of time on the Trade Forums, since it deals primarily in resources and skill tapes. So I may need to post on the Regular Valcyn Board. I am hearing numbers ranging from zero per day to 100k per day, with most people giving numbers closer to zero. So I'm going to post what we were thinking of offering(bear in mind that Valcyn has not suffered from the Zimbabwe-esque Inflation that hit other servers, T-21 rifles are 20k, and you can get a good suit of composite for 200k here on Valvyn) for a noviceentertainer(we are looking at hiring people to do gigs of between 2 days to 1 week). So anyone who is a novice entertainer, or remembers what it was like to be a novice entertainer, tell us what you think of the following offer. Again we have next to no knowledge of the Entertainment business, and bear in mind that these numbers are a "floor", since the City Government will "remind" people to tip our visiting entertainer and letting everyone know that we have an entertainer in town.

Round Trip Travel Costs

Daily Wage: 8k (5k if evenings only)

Clothing Stipend(total):

2 day gig: 1000

3 day gig: 2000

4 day gig: 4000

5 day gig: 8000

6 day gig: 16000

7 day gig: 32000

Bonuses:

Can advertise on the Planetary Map: 1000 per day.

Performs for an entire Week: 15000

So that could come out to 103000(14714 credits per day) in a week for a novice entertainer. Would that be an interesting offer for traveling to our city and turning your macro on? We are completely cool with you being AFK, so long as you stay logged on. I know that lots of you hate the AFK macro-tainers, but this would be boring work, and I can't imagine someone staying there for the whole time at their keyboard.

If you'll let them play afk, then there is no need to pay them. What i recomend is that if they play there for a week you ensure to mind heal partys where you hire a combat medic. If you choose to pay a real entertainer, then your pay is rather low from what i've seen. here is my pay averages

Gig: 100k-1mil (30k/hr minimum)

Non-Gigs

Buffs 5k-50k

Tips: 1000-10000 (as averages)

It averages out to (in a busy cantina) 60k/hr or so and (in a slow cantina) 20k/hr

If i had to guess, in an average week of playing, I make about 400k/ week to 1 million/ week off playing\

in summary if you plan to get a live entertainer, I would pay more.

I have heard several people saying enhanced clothes would be desirable. Since these are made by BE's , this is something we could do on a regular basis, unlike relying on skilltapes. Would enhanced clothes(i believe the bonus is to dancer/musician wound healing) be a better incentive than money?

While clothes are nice, if you want the entertainer to stay in the cantina instead of doing missions, they need to make credits doing so.

I'm assuming you have a Master Chef who owns the cantina, then? So you don't need a master Dancer or Musician to own it? And hon, if you don't need someone to do buffs, just base healing...a novice would be silly not to take your offer. However...please keep in mind that a novice Entertainer can't heal Battle Fatigue very fast. If what you need is lots of fatigue healed...try to get a novice Dancer or Musician who's interested in being a real performer, but isn't a master yet. That's when we get our Fatigue Healing starting to take off. Twi'lek have racial bonuses to this, but please don't cut out the non-twi'lek entertainers.

A thought...if you can offer an outfit with enough Fatigue Healing tapes in it to amount to +25, that would be a hell of an incentive. To me, anyway.

Luck to you in your quest! IfI played on Valcyn, I'd be there now.

I meant enhanced clothes in addition to money as payment.
